Video: Palin, like, totally pwn3d by Canadian comedian or something
posted at 2:47 pm on November 27, 2009 by Allahpundit
Via Think Progress, this one’s making the rounds on liberal blogs but even left-leaning Mediate can’t fathom why (“the video actually acquits Palin quite well”). The politics are elementary: She gets ambushed with a question about a boutique subject, i.e. Canadian health-care policy, and offers a boilerplate answer about carving out space for competition from the private sector (which is precisely what Canada’s been doing, when it’s not busy sending patients it can’t treat over the border for medical care). Ho hum. What makes it worth watching is the fact that the “comedian” actually got close enough to Palin to hit her with a gotcha question — and this is the best she could do. There are literally a million snotty/funny one-liners a talented comic could come up with for Sarahcuda — imagine what Robert Smigel would do with 30 seconds as Triumph the Insult Comic Dog — and these people, who are billed as Canada’s answer to The Daily Show if you can believe it, whiffed on all of them. Merely mentioning Levi Johnston’s bare ass in her presence would have earned an obligatory embarrassment chuckle, but they couldn’t even muster that. Never have I appreciated Jon Stewart more. And I don’t even like Jon Stewart.

If that woman in the clip was trying to imitate Dame Edna, she forgot the wig.

The whole concept of “the media ambush” really irks me. It’s like what Howard Stern does to celebs- try to push the victim’s buttons so they get pissed off. Then record the reaction so you can play it on the show and say “See what a jerk/moron this person is?
She got kicked out of the store b/c she ran up , out of line, and ambushed Palin in a grandiose over-the-top fashion. It had nothing to do with her question. It’s just an example of this lame media tactic.

Ditto for me.
And ANYONE, whether conservative or liberal, who is engaging in this will be dropped as soon as we have an alternative.
And that includes blogs.
I watched blogs go from popular to zip posts.
It’s all about perspective. If you really don’t have a sense of what people are thinking about?
You’re pretty much dead, no matter how your “boss” promotes you.

Personally, I can’t deal with “Teh” as in “Teh One.”
Why oh why do adults have to intentionally mis-spell simple articles and carry on like 14-year olds typing text messages to each other on the school bus?
It’s only THE MOST COMMON WORD IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE.
So by all means, let’s spell it “teh” and show the world how immature we are.
Rant over.

The Alaskan Aphrodite? That’s a new one. Also, it this woman wanted to be “funny” she could have easily asked Gov. Palin the questions instead of making snarky comments after the fact, like her book being full of lies, her not being of the people, etc. I can’t understand progressive humor.

OK, so Mary Walsh, a.k.a., Marg Delahunty reminds me of a loud, obnoxious aunt, who laughs boisterously at her own jokes, but whose lasting memorial is only her loudness and reek of stale cigarettes and cheap bourbon.
justltl on November 27, 2009 at 4:34 PM
Over 9900 comments at Huff Po?
On this clip?
It’s garbage. It hardly zings Palin.
The Marg character is usually a thousand times better than this.
And again, This Hour has 22 Minutes was on the air 3 years before the Daily Show, so it’s not the Canadian answer to it.

Stupid Cannucks. I always believed that all we needed to take over their frozen tundra of a country was a couple of baseball bats, a FordF150, and a case of Schlitz. This just proves it.
CapitalistPig on November 27, 2009 at 5:01 PM
As a Canadian, I can say that is not even remotely funny, my position on socialized health care notwithstanding. In fact, considering how much of my paycheck goes to subsidize crap shows like This Hour, it’s actually vomit-inducing in it’s mediocrity.
The only “Canadians” who will find this remotely funny are the ones who get their comedy fix from MotherCorp (the CBC). These are the people who have only three channels, mind you.
As for your 80% stat; it could be true as long as you’re survey sample is composed of people who have had no close interaction with the health care
bureaucracysystem. Canadians will insist that we have a superior system not because they think it’s true, but because they don’t want to concede that the Americans do something better. A big chunk of our national identity is tied to our health care system, if you can believe it. To concede that it’s shit would be devastating to our collective egos.landshark on November 27, 2009 at 5:03 PM
Michael Moore says hello. He’s proud that Canada is being represented by the Dave Rywall’s. Canada’s needs a voice like yours to tell the US just what socialism is all about.

I doubt I’ll win influence here or anywhere. As for friends… :) I’ve got plenty in the real world. I tried to talk sense on LGF but got banned with the rest of them during his big purge of “right wing extremists”. I didn’t say anything REMOTELY controversial. And now I find this idiotism among HA’s commenters. It’s the same stupid mentality. Just of a different political stripe.
You know what’s really great about Canada? There is no extremism here like in the States. Well, that’s probably too broad of a statement, but whatever extremism exists here is nowhere NEAR the level that the States has. The political discourse is more polite and contains less demagoguery on both sides. Thank G-d for that!
As for the States, “you have been outlawed – ….ing will commence in 5 minutes…“.*
* do I really have to make a disclaimer that no bombing will commence so the RCMP don’t come knocking on my door?

Don’t kid yourself. Dan Quayle could never have galvanized debate on an issue with one two-word phrase. Nor would people have lined up for a mile and a half to see him. Now would he have sold quite as stunning a number of books. Quayle never fought back.

If you want to throw out generalizations, I’d saw the average Canadian is just slightly to the right of communists.

About vetting and being punked.
You can’t “see” the other person on the phone.
Didn’t someone high up in the Obama admin, like V.P. Biden, kinda sorta get his pic taken with two White House State Dinner party crashers?
All those folks were invited, that means the White House should have known WHO they invited. Yes?
Shouldn’t the White House know who the White house invited? Yes or No?
Allegedly, security checks were done as folks showed up, my guess would be something like “do you have an invitation” “can I see your ID” then matching the photo ID with the name to a photo and name on the “who is invited list”.
Every person seeking a photograph at the PARTY was INVITED to the PARTY.
Yet V.P. Fife is grinning like the moronic clueless fool he is with the “White House State Dinner party crashers”
Do you really want to go into “vetting and being punked”?
On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being the Most Punked and 10 being the Leased Punked, where does the imposter on the other end of a phone rank compared to the White House State Dinner party crashers?

I’m coming to believe that Sarah Palin will be our first woman President and that it will take place in 2012.
.
1) She’s the only Conservative running.
2) Her outstanding personality will be the easy antidote to the social and political malaise caused by 4 years of the Obambi.
3) Either 1 or 2 will be sufficient by then.
4) Her policy credentials will be sufficient for the moment. “Drill, Baby, Drill” and “Fight to Win” will be even more compelling in 2012 than they were in 2008.
.
I offer as point of comparison the Carter years. If you lived through it please regress in time and remember the black public mood of the later years of Carter’s mess. In 1980 we would have voted for PeeWee Herman to escape the damage done by Carter. However we had the choice of an authentic Conservative. Remember also his easy confidence and his smile and his belief in America?
.
Yep, I’m totally aware of the negatives she has arrayed against her. She will never capture 40% of the populace who are fully complicit in the Progressive/Socialist/Elitist faith. She won’t need them anyway.
.
Go Sarah Go!

We have a faux-Canadian troll here –Drywall– who even on this post says nothing about Canada except very vague comments. My experience with Canadians is that they strongly tend to reference their country, especially when talking to people they know to be Americans.
Drywall doesn’t mention Canada except to not capitalize ‘Parliament’ or ‘Queen’, and keeps using American spelling.

That’s the sad part about all this. There are Canadians. And then there are dependants of the Canadian state. Mary Walsh is a dependant. She makes her living by being as absurd as possible. And because she makes it on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, which receives $1 billion in money from Canadian taxpayers, she is untouchable. Normally, she skewers Canadian politicians and conservative Americans, but from Canada.
Thank you to those sensible security people who gave her the bum’s rush. It’s not done up here, and to our shame. Her act has always been as funny as a pie throwing protestor – it makes the target of the “act” embarrassed, it makes her look like a fool, and it makes taxpayers cringe that we’re paying for it.
For all America’s perceived faults, at least you haven’t already capitulated to faux “humour” in the form of political socialist theatre. Be thankful. You survived Carter, you’ll survive Obama.
I hope.

Heartening to see a lot of the young from about 7 to college age. And she is more beautiful in person..if that is possible. and it was worth every second of the total 9 hrs. spent….

Sarah Palin has done a lot of good in the past two weeks, raised money for charity, and been a one woman stimulus package for book sellers nationwide, and yet you drag out this BS, with seriously pathetic commentary.

I ain’t wasting time on watching it. I have had enough proof of the obsessive, puerile hatred the Left has for anyone who threatens them. They are Hitler’s Stepchildren: euthanasia, suicide, murder, power-seeking, controlling, you-name-it, they always eventually adopt the way of the full-blown fascist.

Hear, hear. Allahpundit is the Oprah Winfrey of the blogosphere: all about superficial, trivial drama, never about any real content or facts. It’s womanish.
