Happy Thanksgiving!
posted at 10:00 am on November 26, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
I’d like to offer a more traditional message of thanksgiving in this post, and wish all of our Hot Air community a happy Thanksgiving Day with their families and friends. I’ll be spending my day with our extended Minnesota family. My daughter-in-law’s family lovingly adopted us years ago and invite us to all of their family functions, and so we will get to relax with the whole crew over a traditional Thanksgiving meal. They have been a huge blessing to the First Mate and me, and I’m very thankful for that.
Of course, we will be thankful for the phone service that connects us to our families back home in California, where Thanksgiving Day is significantly warmer. I’m sure they’ll be thankful that the temperature won’t get down to the 41 degrees it will be today in Minnesota. We will catch up with them this morning and wish them a happy Thanksgiving, too, and be thankful for the opportunity to do so.
What will be the blessings I keep in mind for today, and for which I will thank our Lord? Of course, first and foremost will be our families and friends. After that, as always, I will thank Him for the good fortune to live in this nation where men and women can be free to pursue their dreams. I will thank the Lord for the men and women who safeguard that liberty and security, whether they be in Iraq, Afghanistan, on the seas, in the air, or in our local police and fire stations, ready to risk their own lives to secure ours. That is an awesome and moving dedication that may be difficult to comprehend fully, but I am fully grateful for its existence.
I’ll also be thankful for this forum, in which I get to express my sense of liberty, The Boss who graciously allows me to earn a living while doing so, my partner Allahpundit, and all of the readers and commenters who make it possible. It is such a blessing to be part of Hot Air, and the last six years of blogging has been a dream come true. Thank you, all of you, and may God bless you and your families on this contemplative holiday.
I’ll try to take the rest of the day off, but if I get some cute video of the granddaughters, I’ll be back.

I’m grateful for my family, friends, and home.
I’m grateful for this country that has provided an atmosphere for people to excel and improve themselves.
Lastly, I’m grateful simply to be alive; to breathe.

I’m thankful for all the wonderful blessing which the Lord has bestowed on me. My family. My friends. My talents. My home. My job. My health (as I type this home with the flu, but it could be worse).
This year I am also especially thankful that we have someone like Sarah Palin living rent free in the left’s heads.

A little message for a lady who loves liberty.
Happy Thanksgiving
Over three hundred years ago, a group of settlers fleeing religious persecution decided to set a new course for human history in a new frontier. Those early pioneers chose a rocky shoreline to establish their way of life. Centuries later, America continues to set the example of what can come from a free and hardworking people. We truly remain the shining city upon a hill that the colonial leader John Winthrop implored us to be.
What started as a small colony in the territory that would eventually become the Commonwealth of Massachusetts has progressed into the greatest and most prosperous nation in history. Americans remain the freest people on earth because of our cherished Constitution and the system of government it establishes.
We have so much to be thankful for. We should recognize especially the sacrifices made on our behalf by those in uniform. Thousands of Americans will be spending Thanksgiving overseas in combat zones in order to protect our liberty and way of life. We should give thanks to those who willingly put their lives on the line for the rest of us. Where would we be without them?
We are also thankful for what God has granted us. We are truly blessed in America with rich natural resources, plentiful energy sources, fertile land, beautiful cities, and the talented and industrious people we call “our fellow Americans.” We pray that God will continue to bless us.
In his farewell address to the nation, President Reagan reminded us that “all great change in America begins at the dinner table.” Thanksgiving is an opportunity to discuss where we are as a nation at this moment in our history and where we should be heading in order to remain prosperous and free. Take time to discuss these things with each other, and take time to teach the young people in your family about our nation’s history so that they may never forget all that we have to be proud of and thankful for.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!! I was waiting for a thread like this to show up to wish that. :) Everyone at HotAir is something I am thankful for, as it shows that there are great Americans out there who still believe in the strength of conservatism. *smiles* Although I may not post all the time, this is such a great place to come to get the whole story on event. I am even thankful for the Democrats and liberals around here who brave the conservative HotAir population to post a dissenting opinion, because all that does is help to strengthen the rest of us in our beliefs. It also offers dissenting views, which we need to have to retain perspective; which is another thing this great country was founded upon: the right to HAVE and express dissenting views, and discuss the merits of both sides.

Ok fine, here’s to Abe or Ted or Ernest Hemingway or whomever believes that having a nice Islay before lunch is a good idea.
I’m thankful for Scotland.
As for the little Norman Rockwell pic Ed included, it seems kind of…well…white. Didn’t the white man slaughter the Indians for their turkeys and invent slavery as a means to force black people to make mashed potatoes and gravy?

Happy Thanksgiving Ed, Michelle, and AP.
This site has been a gift. Thanks for everything.
I will Thank God today for my beautiful country. The only thing that will save it at this point is the Hand of God and millions of people crying out. We need repentance and redemption to turn things around.
How blessed are we to have been given the foudations for freedom, liberty and opportunity like never before is history.
A day of rest before the continuing battle to preserve and restore the gift of liberty.
Enjoy the day everyone!!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone at Hot Air. I’m thankful for my family and though I’m on the other side of the country from them, I miss them and am really looking forward to spending time with them during Christmas. I’m thankful that I do have wonderful friends that have invited me to their home for Thanksgiving dinner, otherwise I’d be spending this day watching TV or Netflix streaming. I’m thankful I have a job, an apartment to live in and am getting by. For all of that, I am most thankful that there are very brave men and women in our Armed Services, including my beloved US Navy, who help make what I am thankful for possible. If it wasn’t for them, none of us would have what we have. Thank you everyone and have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

My husband and I drove to my mother’s house last night, and are spending time with extended family today. The promise of my grandmother’s (RIP) stuffing recipe is the only thing that has kept me going for the last two weeks. “Yum” doesn’t quite describe it.
In all seriousness, as I sit on my mother’s couch, listening to her shoo the cat off of the kitchen counters for the 100th time in an hour (that cat will eat anything), I am so grateful for the life that I have. I have a wonderful husband and a fantastic family. I thank God for the fortune of being able to buy my first home last month.
And, while I don’t comment much here, I so enjoy coming here every day and reading the thoughts of so many like-minded, well-spoken, and downright hilarious readers.

In Puerto Rico, when Spaniards came, were friendly with the Taino tribe (my tribe, extinct) then found out about gold, started to kill, take women, force Tainos to find gold by the rivers, and of course, thanks to Spaniards/sarc, there are no living Tainos-no direct descendants.
There’s a famous story of one of the Taino indians where a small bunch grabbed one Spaniard and killed him (I believe they thought Spaniars were some sort of demi-gods and afraid of their weapons).
Anyways, I am also thankful that Puerto Rico is a US Territory, with all the rights that come from that. I wish for statehood still, hard to see that from where I am. Hard for us to see POTUS send troops from PR to Iraq and Afgh not voting for him, regardless.
Off thread-bye!
ProudPalinFan on November 26, 2009 at 10:39 AM
I am thankful for the true American patriots who, after a long period of dormancy, have finally awakened to the realization of the manifold internal threats facing our republic.
The battlefield is right here our own soil and the weapons are not bombs or missiles but rather words and ideas well expressed, spoken often and with force. Every last one of us must speak out and challenge the MSM for TRUTH in REPORTING or all will be lost.
We will not lay down or sit in passive abeyance and let what we hold dear fall due to apathy or the perceived futility at the struggles which lay ahead.
With no other recourse at hand, we must fight, fight with passion and steadfast determination. Our passions, properly channeled and focused we can, and we will, overwhelm the enemy and make them cower in fear at our growing numbers.
A new brand of Conservative activism is just now beginning. So prepare for 2010. Send a message and let the momentum carry us forward. Rejoice, the MSM is becoming increasingly irrelevant.
Long live the Tea Partiers!

I have always believed that this anointed land was set apart in an uncommon way, that a divine plan placed this great continent here between the oceans to be found by people from every corner of the Earth who had a special love of faith and freedom. Our pioneers asked that He would work His will in our daily lives so America would be a land of morality, fairness, and freedom.
Today we have more to be thankful for than our pilgrim mothers and fathers who huddled on the edge of the New World that first Thanksgiving Day could ever dream.

I have a lot to be thankful for. I got an insulin pump a few months ago and after 10 years on insulin my sugars are finally under control which allows me to dream of seeing my future grandchildren grow up. I am thankful my parents live with me, I am thankful for my daughter. She is growing into a wonderful woman. I am a single father and an only child. I have nobody to bounce ideas off so I always question if doing a good job. We moved about two years ago and I have been making monthly weekend round trips (550 miles) so my daughter can see her best friend there. This year they are here. They woke me up this morning and thanked me for all the trips I’ve driven to keep their friendship alive. I guess I did something right. It is all those special moments, all the handmade cards, the $2 gifts in the middle of Christmas morning, and “Baby Girl” by Sugarland that I am so thakful for every day; but more so today since I get to cook for 14 hours (so i miss the Ciwboys game yet again) then go to WalMart at 3AM because without these people in my life there would be No one to complain to about cooking 14 hours and Black afriday shopping.
