Video: Turkey saved or created at the White House
posted at 4:10 pm on November 25, 2009 by Allahpundit
Via MKH. I wish I could take credit for the headline but that joke comes straight from The One himself, winking here at the sublime nonsense of his job numbers. And why not? No one’s buying it, so he might as well have fun with it. This is actually surprisingly funny in parts, most notably the line that comes at 2:35 but more generally in Obama’s amusement over the whole goofy ritual. Too bad Biden had to go and one-up him.
As for the policy implications here, Lileks has got you covered. When will we learn?

the turkey later asked to be executed instead of being forced to live with Obama as President.

lavell12 on November 25, 2009 at 4:17 PM
Given the policies and appointments of this administration, I can well believe that they created the turkey. They have laid enough eggs to do so.

Why’d he have to save a White turkey? :(
If I were president, I would refuse to do this. It’s dumb and stupid.

From the cheat sheet:
“Democrats have won all four Congressional special elections since President Obama was inaugurated. Earlier this
month, Democrats defeated Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin’s “tea party” candidate to win New York’s 23rd
District for the first time in more than 100 years.”
They cite two private citizens as opposition. Makes sense, doesn’t it?
They also repeat the “more than 100 years” bullsh*t.

He and his family were great in this clip. That’s the thing. How can you NOT like Obama? THAT’S the problem. He is personable, likable, and has a great family.
If he didn’t feel like it was his job to take money and redistribute the nation’s wealth I’d support him like crazy. I just wish he didn’t think spending money was the answer to everything. Check that. . . spending OTHER PEOPLE’S MONEY was the answer to everything.
There are solutions that don’t cost money. But like sex sells, it’s easy to give away money. That gay american idol guy can’t rely on his talent. He’s got to use sex and shock to become popular. . . how original.
Barack Obama seems like a great guy. I just wish his policy decisions were for less spending.

That was actually pretty enjoyable. And to quote a well-known movie line, “The colossal prick even managed to sound magnanimous.”
“Courage” is from my hometown (Goldsboro, NC) and needless to say, the locals are practically giddy over this.
There are lots of turkey farms in the area and you’ll always know within about half a mile whenever you’re about to pass by one.

Generally good. I did like the: “Is there an official gesture?” At least he didn’t bow to the turkey. (Hope and change!)
But, “New perils and new hardships”? Hardly. Same old perils – statists trying to control and dictate everything. Same old hardships – the inevitable results of statists trying to control and dictate everything.
I give thanks to HotAir, Biggovernment.com, Instapundit, Fox News and the like for doing the jobs others won’t do – namely journalism.
Well done folks!!

Did anyone else get the notion that was the first time he had read the speech? His little pause and smirk at the kicker ‘saved or created four turkeys’ seemed to amuse him as much as it did the crowd, kinda like that was the first time he’d seen the joke.
Or maybe it’s just me…

NTIM (we are talking a turkey pardon) but it’s pretty obvious he never saw the joke before (see 2:20-2:30). Just for comparison purposes, though, the next time we see a laugh like that on a more substantive policy speech or greeting of a foreign dignitary.
