Video: The greatest rock cover evah?

posted at 7:53 pm on November 24, 2009 by Allahpundit

For your enjoyment as we transition to a holiday state o’ mind, a palate cleanser that’s destined to go mega-viral. Three possible explanations: (1) there’s some heavy drug use going on these days at the Muppets Studio; (2) this is actually a clip of Queen’s video and I’m seeing it as Muppets because my takeout order tonight was laced with something; (3) I can’t think of a third. Bottom line, someone’s tripping balls here. I hope it’s not me!

As always, Animal is the star of the show. Just wait for it.

Abso-freakin-lutely awesome. Big steaming piles of odoriferous awesomeness.

When the Muppets are good, they’re very, very good. But since Jim Henson died, most of what they’ve done has been either lame or awful.

I actually found Miss Piggy somewhat endearing at the end; I got some kind of nostalgic pang. Which is likely definitive proof that I’m “not right.”

Animal forever! He steals the show every time.

Ms Piggy, shut up and get on my plate already. Always my least favorite Muppet but otherwise… AWESOMELY AWESOME!!!!

Is this a subtle ad for Microsoft? Look at the computer at the end.

Sydney Carton on November 24, 2009 at 9:56 PM

As a Muppet Show viewer from WAy back, this was brilliant. They even had the Mannah Mannah’s.

Awesome Allah.

Allah, on the off chance your take out guy doesn’t work in a French Connection kinda side business, – Have you changed your cat litter recently?

Make sure the Kitty’s get their “Cut” of the Thanksgiving goodies or you WILL PAY!

FloridaBill on November 24, 2009 at 10:17 PM

Great — they were all there. And if there was ever a video ripe for parody, it’s that one.

Mr. D on November 24, 2009 at 10:28 PM

I very much want overnite delivery on whatever drugs that envisioned that video. Now. Before Thanksgiving and seeing family. It could be all the difference in the world. I might even enjoy it.;-)

di butler on November 24, 2009 at 10:35 PM

The Muppets have sucked for a long time now.
Queen has been great for a long time now.

Ain’t watching it.

HAnthonyWayne on November 24, 2009 at 10:38 PM

Allah,

I don’t care what Kermit says about you, you’re all right by me;)

Laura in Maryland on November 24, 2009 at 10:44 PM

Btw, today happens to be Freddie Mercury’s 18th death anniversary – was this just a mere coincidence, AP ?

RIP Freddie – you will always be missed.

What did you get? :-) I hear you can get anything delivered to your door in NYC.

SouthernGent on November 24, 2009 at 10:47 PM

That was the best youtube video I’ve seen since Drinking out of Cups.

russcote on November 24, 2009 at 10:49 PM

Thanks so much for that!! When my brother and I were young, we had only CBS, PBS, ABC, and if the wind was blowing correctly, NBC. The Muppet Show was on Wednesday nights at 7, but choir practice at our country church 6 miles away was at 7:30.. we would have our suppers eaten and be dressed to go before Muppets came on, then sit in rapt attention. My mom would go out and get the car at 7:20, and sit honking the horn while we watched every last minute of the show we could. We were always 5 or 6 minutes late, but so were a bunch of the other kids, for the same reason. It aggravated our choir instructor so much, she switched practice to 8 instead. Simpler times!!! Thanks again!

Cornhusker on November 24, 2009 at 10:57 PM

That was Palin in the Whitehouse, Ronald Reagan coming back to life, them having a kid who grows up and marries Ann Coulter’s and Rush Limbaugh’s kid, and that kid getting hit by cosmic rays and becoming a superhero good.

Maybe I wasn’t a big enough fan of the Muppets, but this didn’t do anything for me.

I’m more partial to this cover.

As always, Animal is the star of the show. Just wait for it.

Well, they had to find some way of making “Momma, just killed a man. Put a gun up to his head; pulled my trigger now he’s dead” family friendly.
