My term, not his, although he’s explicitly drawing a parallel with BDS. There’s something for everyone here. For conservatives, a little O-bashing over The One’s dopey bow to the Japanese emperor; for Palin fans, a little O-praising to prove once again that Huck’s not a “true conservative”; and for a certain Chamberlain-esque RINO candy ass who’s taking a beating in Headlines tonight, a very welcome distraction indeed.
Exit question: Would Huck describe hardcore O-haters as a conservative “nutroots”? Hmmm.

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney (Who I must disclose I am a huge fan of) is a very sharp speaker and looked tailor-made to be a president. He has excellent economic credentials, ran the 2002 Olympics and was a successful governor, elected in a very liberal state. However some people still have questions about the health care plan he tried to enact during his time in office. He will no doubt have to answer those questions if he decides to run again.
Sarah Palin is a triple-threat. She can rally a crowd while appearing personable. She has conservative credentials, and she can tout a successful string of jobs. She was elected to City Council, then Mayor, then was the Chairperson of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, and then finally Governor. While she did resign her term as governor prematurely, she did so only because the frivolous lawsuits kept her from doing her job. It was not often reported in the main-steam media that during her term as governor she enjoyed approval ratings in the high eighties.
She comes off like your neighbor. She is hitting two cities a day, signing over a thousand books per stop. When she entered the store and waved to the crowd outside, you would have sworn that Michael Jackson was in to sign copies of the Thriller album in 1984. The cheers were deafening.
She is a personable and genuine person, who is on what many people believe to be the ‘right’ side of the issues. (ba dum bum) For the first time in forty years, more people in the country are pro-life than pro-choice. The tea party movement has not only shown disgust with the current administration, but with mistakes made from the Bush years as well. They despise the rapid growth in government that has taken place since the year 2001. Palin is a small-government reformer who could if elected to the presidency, reduce the size of bureaucracy and government the way Ronald Reagan did in the eighties.
That’s something we could all use. Imagine a world with government half the size it is now. Imagine a government not so politically correct that we have a ‘civil court’ trial for the 9/11 mastermind planners so that we can curry favor with the rest of the world. Imagine a bureaucracy not so clogged with useless pencil-pushing jobs that soak up taxpayer money. Imagine a government not hell-bent on pushing economic crippling bills like Cap-and-Trade and Health Care reform. I imagine it every day.

With Congress and President Obama spending money on everything at breakneck speed, it’s interesting that they are only now getting nervous about spending – but only when it comes to providing the necessary funds to complete our mission in Afghanistan. They don’t need a new “war tax” to fund a strategy for victory in the war zone. They simply need to prioritize our money appropriately.
I find it telling that the Pelosi-Reid Congress is only cost-conscious when it comes to our national defense. Scary. Nonsensical. Unacceptable.

I do not like the term litmus test but when any Republican or so-called conservative bends over backwards to display white guilt (Bobby Jindal in his rebuttal to the SOTU) or goes out of his/her way to praise the Messiah, they are dead to me, at least until they can get themselves out of the doghouse and back Sarah Palin, as Newt Gingrich in a recent segment of Meet the Press.
The only reason McCain is not dead to me is that he brought Sarah Palin to national attention and without him the conservative movement would not have a bona fide leader. Think of it maverick, your legacy to the nation will be the resurrection of Reagan conservatism. How ironic?

Well, I expect this type of interview from Couric and it is sad to say I expect this type of interview from Huckabee. God forbid he runs in 2012 because he will not get my vote. Just because somebody says they are an evangelical Christian, that doesn’t make it so. Huckabee is best described as a centrist Democrat like Bill Clinton. He governed as a centrist Democrat. His positions are all aligned with centrist Democrats. He is a centrist Democrat no matter how much he claims to be a conservative and evangelical Christian.
He is too much of an Obama fan and far too liberal to ever be a serious contender for the GOP nomination. I wish he’d just shut the huck up and go away.

Huckabee had a copy of his diet up on a website before he ran for Prez. One of his recommendations was to cut the skin off chicken.
When Mitt went to a KFC and cut the skin off his chicken, Huck taunted him for doing that (the message was that only out of touch Ivy Leaguers for whom “summer is a verb” do that).
So yeah, he’s a phony.
