Video: Huckabee on Obama Derangement Syndrome
posted at 10:11 pm on November 24, 2009 by Allahpundit
My term, not his, although he’s explicitly drawing a parallel with BDS. There’s something for everyone here. For conservatives, a little O-bashing over The One’s dopey bow to the Japanese emperor; for Palin fans, a little O-praising to prove once again that Huck’s not a “true conservative”; and for a certain Chamberlain-esque RINO candy ass who’s taking a beating in Headlines tonight, a very welcome distraction indeed.
Exit question: Would Huck describe hardcore O-haters as a conservative “nutroots”? Hmmm.

Huckabee is trying to be the independent-thinking, maverick guy who’s not afraid to criticize his own party. Kind of like John McCain attacking 527s and local orgs who dared to attack his opponent.
amerpundit on November 24, 2009 at 10:13 PM
Quit your bellyaching. I think Proud Rino is getting a better beating than you, AP.
Now, if you bring us a humpbot, all will be forgiven.

What Huck missed out on saying is that the bow is *not* customary…when greeting a foreign leader. That was well documented here and on other blogs. He let Perky back him into a corner on that and he came off looking sheepish.

anniekc on November 24, 2009 at 10:19 PM
Come on AP, you REALLY have to ask that question? I think that has been thoroughly proven on HA for many months now.
davek70 on November 24, 2009 at 10:19 PM
Huckabee’s a nanny-stater. I don’t want any politician telling me not to smoke or increasing taxes on a lawful product because the reality of the times has succeeded in demonizing it.
Hey Huck, and you too, Jeb, if it’s soooo goddamned bad, evil and dangerous, get together and BAN IT. Stop making it some kind of government cash-cow for phony programs.
You guys are just as bad as the filthocrats for telling me what’s good for me.
Lanceman on November 24, 2009 at 10:19 PM
Allah,
Huckabee was your go-to guy whenever you sensed that Romney might have won the nomination. He’s McCain enough for you that you can overlook his faux evangelical claims and enough of a social liberal that you’d give him a full lick-locked kiss.
I’m among those of us who are more critical. I’m not a Palin fan and I like her far more than this RINO “populist.” In short, he’s popular with people like you, not the real GOP base. Good luck in using him to attack the real candidates in 2012- we are on to you now and have even less tolerance for people like you.
highhopes on November 24, 2009 at 10:20 PM
I guess we’ll find out in the comments. I don’t really think so, but phony is a hard word. Certainly some are closer to conservative values then others. There was a tremendous amount of anti-Huck sentiment around here (including my own) during the cycle, but I think now Palin fans may pull for Palin first but would be happy to hear Huck criticizing Obama.
As an aside, Huck earned a lot of ire for his two-faced behavior. So the point I would make is that there will be correlation but not causation with respect to Palin fans and anti-Huck sentiment.
Spirit of 1776 on November 24, 2009 at 10:20 PM

Huckabee gave an excellent interview with Katie Couric. It was about 45 minutes long. All questions that were asked were answered.
While many on hotair are not big fans of Huckabee, in viewing the whole interview, you could see how he would be an excellent POTUS for all of America. Unlike Obama who keeps shoving all of his lefty ideas down our throats.
The interview is blocked in segments. So obviously, allahpundit chose which one he wanted to profile. The rest of you can pick your own segment to watch at:

nickj116 on November 24, 2009 at 10:27 PM
I think it is probably mostly based on the idea that Bolton was utterly off base about a terrorist threat to NYC. It is compounded here since Huckabee was the way he pitted “evangelicals” against mormons (aka Romney) so that McCain would come off looking good. There was one point when he had something like 13 pro Huck/anti-Romney threads going on.
I, for one, still hold a grudge against Allah for his unfair treatment of GOP candidates during the primaries. Enough people I like and respect (Michelle Malkin for one) say nice things about the bastard to let me know that what we see here isn’t all there is but I’ve got to go with the Christian-hating RINO that shows up in these threads. He worked overtime to squelch all but Rudy and McCain and the GOP lost. I’m not blaming that defeat on Allah but he was decidedly biased when he should have been furthering debate. That is an unforgivable sin.
highhopes on November 24, 2009 at 10:27 PM
Huckster who has extreme Romney Derangement Syndrome is an expert on this.
Huckster loves to forgive and pardon murderers, liars, and thieves. He just hates good men who actually work for a living.

I don’t question Obama’s motives. I know full well what they are. I’ve never been a member of the Huck for Prez crowd, but I have to tell you that I heard Huckabee Unleashed the other night on his show. I’d dozed off after watching Journal & Newswatch and woke up during his show. I was still groggy and can’t remember for the life of me what he was talking about, but it was just before the segment on the journalist who was murdered. If anyone here knows what he said that had me thinking, “Wow! If he’s saying all that, then he’s definitely decided not to run,” let me know. Because whatever it was, he’d be excoriated for during a campaign. I looked around for a clip, but couldn’t find anything.

when huck embraces conservative principles he will be a true conservative like not raising taxes, like not voting for isolationism. stuff like that.

20 months ago, we were saying the same about McCain.
AP, I’d think you of all people would have the ‘snake handling preacher’ detectors working. Early in the primaries, he caught my attention due to performances in the debates. Made me want to look into him some more. I did. That looking took care of my interest in him. As was said above, he’s pretty good on Fox. Let him stay there. He’s the Republican that proves the Left’s point about Repubs wanting to force their morality on others.
bikermailman on November 24, 2009 at 10:32 PM
Huckabee, in my opinion, is the worst kind of conservative.
He’s a nanny-stater who’s weak on foreign policy and qualifies as a conservative only because he’s so socially so.
He strikes me as the type of guy who’d be fine with a soft tyranny, so long as it were a religious one.

Huckabee would decidedly not be an excellent POTUS. He has a radio segment that comes on at the same time my alarm goes off in the morning. Five minutes of pure socialist propaganda presented in his folksy way. He praised the filthy lying coward in the White House far more than he is critical.
As to Allah, Huckabee is his favorite way of marginalizing Romney so that we get stuck with another Democrat-lite in 2012. Do not trust him when it comes to elections.

ncjetsfan on November 24, 2009 at 10:45 PM
I don’t think Huck’s a phony. He’s a “compassionate” conservative who lets his social justice compassion outweigh his conservatism. There’s a fine line between knowing we have to teach a man to fish and knowing when the man just needs a darned fish. Do you feed him once, then put a pole in his hands, or do you keep feeding him hoping he’ll get off his butt and find his own pole? Huckabee would choose the latter a bit too frequently, I think, and when you do that, you are allowing the set up for the statists.
