Once this is finally signed – that’s it. The Repubs aren’t going to repeal it, they won’t have the votes anyway. There certainly isn’t enough to override a Presidential veto, even a few years down the road.

Look, you go ahead and keep fooling yourself about how this isn’t a foregone conclusion. I might agree that there may be the slightest of chances this doesn’t get passed – but show me how it won’t.

This needed to be stopped last week, it wasn’t. The Dems have resorted to every trick in the book and they will continue to do so. Political whores like Landrieu show no price is to high to prostrate themselves for the Dems ideology and that pissants like Reid don’t care about principle or conviction, but bribery. If this monstrosity were so damned good for the country, why does he have to buy the votes for it?!

Show me the much ballyhooed ‘moderate Dems’ we were relying on to stop this? Show the much vaunted ‘Blue Dogs’ in the House who stopped their version from going through? Even Lieberman voted to allow this monstrosity through – ‘Independent’, huh? BTW, he’s such a friend or moderate – what’s his stance on cap and trade again?

You tell me how we can stop it. Nothing – NOTHING – done by the electorate to stop this up until now has done a damn bit of good. You may say it has – show me. Where are we today? Closer to this being passed or further away.

I’m not an appeaser, but I’m also not a fool. You know, you can call me anything you want. This is a comment thread where people are encouraged to express their viewpoint – I have done so. That doesn’t make me an appeaser. It simply makes me pissed off that you want to expend energy calling me names.

Repeal? Are you serious? Have we repealed Medicare? Welfare? Have we repealed anything significant from ‘The Great Society’? How long do you think it would take to repeal this? How many Senators and Congressman would we need for that – not to mention a conservative in the WH? You’re deluding yourself if you think repealing this is a viable strategy.

Being pissed we couldn’t get this stopped hardly makes me an appeaser – it makes me a pissed off American that we have to talk about inane strategies trying to stop something that my youngest daughter knows is bad for everyone, for the entire country.

I just retired, 1 November, after spending 22 years in the military sacrificing and bleeding for my country – I have every right to be pissed off and expressing my frustration, even if it offends your delicate sensibilities. I disagree that passage is a foregone conclusion. There are several hurdles left, and Harry has to hold every single Democrat, all we need is one. Abortion will also be revisited, endangering passage by the house.

If it passes, we work to repeal it. Period. Start now (a la Ramesh Ponnuru) and make sure Democrats know that even when it’s over, it won’t be over.

To me, Independent voters = no core values; blows with the wind. They’re the biggest reason we’re in this mess. It pisses me off that we have to “court” them. They’re fence sitters. If you talk to an “independent,” you’ll find that they can tell you about every contestant on Americna Idol, but give you a blank stare if you ask them to name even a few Supreme Court justices, or ask who is Nancy Pelosi. They seem to vote based on who has the briefest and catchiest, talking point. aarghh – a plague on all their houses.

She’s not a lib. She’s apolitical more than anything. Like I said initially she is opposed to ObamaCare on the whole, just thinks if it does happen, it will help her brother out so it’s not that bad. Her parents are raging liberals.

My BIL is a good kid, just doesn’t have his head on straight. And my in-laws are doing to him what Dems have done to millions of poor people for 50 years. Instead of saying kiddo, you’re on your own, they basically pay for his living. He has no incentive to straighten up because he knows mom and dad will be there to bail his ass out. He totaled his car not too long ago. What did the parents do? They bought him a new car, they pay for his car insurance too.

I don’t understand why more GOP aren’t discussing the specifics.

Landrieu should be forced to share the $300 Billion with Houston, Tx; where Katrina evacuees fled to in droves.

I know women who think that their quality healthcare will not be affected by Obamacare because they think that as long as they can pay for it out of pocket, it will be available to them. They are stupid. They do not get it. It won’t be available to them if they do not meet the government guidelines, regardless of their ability to pay. Of course there will be two seperate healthcare delivery systems. One for the elites and one for the rest of us. These libby women just don’t get it yet. They think they are part of the elite system, but they will not be.

Amen. No one seems to be looking at how the gubment is in charge of delivering the H1N1 vaccine, and they’ve failed miserably. American companies were not permitted to produce it (just foreign companies approved). Ten percent of our supply was promised to developing countries before we even began receiving the vaccine.

Now, ability to pay AND being in an at risk group doesn’t seem to make much of a difference, unless you’re a gitmo detainee. Distribution is a joke.

By ‘flipping the senate’ do you mean get a republican majority, or get us just above the 40 we need to stop a huge mess like this?

I mean getting 61 republicans. I still think that is very tough. However, I am very optimistic that we will have enough Republicans to sustain a filibuster after inaugurations in January 2011, even enough conservative Republicans.
