The chair of the House Armed Services Committee has sent a letter demanding the appearance of Attorney General Eric Holder to explain his decision to try Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four co-conspirators in federal court.

Does Holder have to show?

Yes.
If Congress really cared (which the Dem members don’t) they could solve this problem really easily. In the separation of powers, the founders gave Congress the power to determine what the courts could hear, i.e. the court’s jurisdiction. A federal court can only hear what Congress allows it to hear. Therefor Congress could remove the power of the federal courts to even hear terrorist trials. Problem is the Dems would never do that.

Regardless his “aggressive” questioning I think Graham’s a horse’s ass not to call Holder out. We’ve got Jayson Blair running the Dept. of Justice. I’m f’g sick of all this Miss Manners crap when you’re facing off with lunatic, commie idiots. Bloody the bastards every time they speak. Lindsay should have laughed in his face. The guy didn’t even check precedence on his case. He couldn’t be a clerk in a decent law office. Holder was sweating bullets. I bet our gay little JAG could have got him shedding tears if he’d cut loose on him.

How Obama is Bringing Martial Law to America

The greatest danger posed in the trial of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM) isn’t that he will go free. The greatest danger is that he will be convicted and that during his appeals the courts will ratify all of the extraordinary measures used to capture and convict him. The great danger is that the courts will ratify the rough, inaccurate and ambiguous norms of martial law as applying to all civil criminal trials.

After a couple of decades of these court decisions reverberating throughout the legal system, we could end up living under de facto martial law.

Skelton, like many, cannot determine how Holder and Obama decided which went where, and implies that it seems arbitrary and not based on any legal considerations.

Wouldn’t we all like to know.

These are the people in the middle that Ayn Rand talked about. They’re “good guys” but they are the ones who are bringing us the evils of socialism. Here’s her full quote:

Is this all just a high stakes political manuever? Is Holder bluffing? Will Holder reverse his decision once the Health Care legislation has been accomplished? Is Holder just taking one for the team? The #1 priority of the Obama administration and the Democrat leadership is this Health Care legislation. They must have a win this year or the momentum will be lost.

Ed, and everybody else: Please get out of the habit of using the word “democratic” instead of “democrat”. There is nothing democratic about these goons. Please?

And, he in for the hardest fight he’s ever had in his long career of Congress. There are at least two Republicans, one of them very popular (forget the name) vying to challenge him.

This bit with the KSM trial is going 180 from the KC (Red) Star Editorial Board. Wonder if they’ll endorse the other guy instead of him this time? (HAHAHAHAHAHA)

This is the first significant public pushback from a Democratic Congressman, although some in the Senate expressed at least reservations during Holder’s appearance this week.

Obama’s numbers are down and he needs to remind people why they voted for him by demonizing Bush again. He wants to appease the “Bush as war criminal” folks as well. Not even really about Bush – its still all about Obama. I wish he would find another way. This way is wrong.

As much as I miss the guy, the best thing Bush has been doing is laying low and out of the spotlight. The less people see of Bush now, the harder it is for Obama to blame him for all today’s issues. Obama “owns” these unemployment numbers, terrorist issues, foreign policy screwups, gov’t spending, etc.
