Video: The R Files and the Phantom Congressional Districts

posted at 3:35 pm on November 20, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

Kudos to the Danny Tarkanian campaign for what is easily the funniest and most acerbic take yet on the phantom Congressional districts of Porkulus. As Jim Geraghty says, watch it while you can, because YouTube will probably pull this over copyright issues soon. Mulder and Scully figure out that with Harry Reid, the truth is way, way, way out there:

The more liberals open their mouth, the better the 2010 ads will be. Should be entertaining.

txag92 on November 20, 2009 at 3:42 PM

Rush brought up something Mark Steyn had said about Acorn not having to worry about a few non existing voters when they can count entire non existing Congressional districts. Greta video too.

fourdeucer on November 20, 2009 at 3:44 PM

that was pretty good, my guess is that the jobs and districts went to the other dimension, you know the one in that twilight zone episode.

rob verdi on November 20, 2009 at 3:44 PM

Now the question is if Reid is voted out of office, will a amish group get their hands on him, put him in some goob under a barn, turn him into a woman, and have hime run for office again.

WashJeff on November 20, 2009 at 3:44 PM

Greta video too.

Great video also

fourdeucer on November 20, 2009 at 3:45 PM

Awesome! Love The X-Files, and that was pretty creative of them to do.

changer1701 on November 20, 2009 at 3:52 PM

This begs for an ‘Unsolved Mysteries’ follow-up.

Tarkanian can probably argue Fair Use under parody.

amerpundit on November 20, 2009 at 4:02 PM

Great job. Nevadans, is Tark the man or shall we wait for the primary to send support?

Christian Conservative on November 20, 2009 at 4:05 PM

Well, I don’t know if he is ‘the man’, but I’ve already sent him a couple of modest donations, just to keep him encouraged.

Big Government has a link to a story in NH of a man who really did publicly announce his candidacy for district 00 there — ironically, the district that got the most stimulus money in that state. He even got endorsements from other GOP pols, including his former primary opponent in the real CD-2 of NH. Funny!

amerpundit on November 20, 2009 at 4:02 PM

I’m not positive, but accusations are enough to get it removed, and defenses aren’t enough to keep it from being removed. It’s the DMCA!

misterpeasea on November 20, 2009 at 4:27 PM

Funny!
jwolf on November 20, 2009 at 4:26 PM

Hah!

What idiots run our country, but it is a democratic republic, so we get what we deserve.

WashJeff on November 20, 2009 at 4:30 PM

Eh…goes on for about twice as long as necessary.

DaveO on November 20, 2009 at 4:31 PM

There is a fifth dimension, beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition.

Should be “The DX Files.”

Star20 on November 20, 2009 at 4:46 PM

Now I got to pull out my X-Files DVDs and watch the first few seasons again…

Spot on.

rbj on November 20, 2009 at 5:01 PM

That really is funny.

Terrye on November 20, 2009 at 5:03 PM

I can’t watch it where I am at, You-tube is blocked here but I did have a thought, if that’s where our missing money went, maybe those phantom districts also have our missing keys, pens, and socks!

Lily on November 20, 2009 at 5:04 PM

Very good commercial.

And I’ve decided to run for the North Carolina “Unspecified District” slot.

Anyone want to contribute? :)

tickleddragon on November 20, 2009 at 5:08 PM

While you wait for the demand to watch that video ebb a bit, there’s also the phantom campaign of Grant Bosse (NH-00) to entertain you (he was just interviewed on Neil Cavuto). “Bosse explains that his candidacy is just as real as the jobs created by the $787 billion stimulus package.”

Good ad, not sure who to back yet. Tark has had some of the Heaths (Palin’s dad, etc.) in his corner, and I think Romney’s in Sue Lowden’s corner. Lowden also has more of a history with the state GOP, FWIW.
