Via Greg Hengler, didn’t Cronkite used to end his nightly show this way? “And that’s the way it is. And a personal note to the boys at Lincoln Elementary: Quit pulling Joey’s underwear over his head.” Don’t get me wrong, it’s a sweet sentiment and doubtless appreciated by anyone who’s ever been called a nerd or a geek or a dweeby little beta male who should run home to mommy. *cough* But … calling kids “wads” during a national newscast? I knew CNN was going to have to jazz things up once Dobbs left, but this bold new direction is even bolder than expected.
Here’s the original clip of the pledge kid, who has Jon Stewart on his side too. Exit fun fact: Joey’s underwear is now on display at the Newseum.

It take a lot of guts to be different. I am a firm believer in taking a big stick to bullies. As to this young woman, not quite the reaction we need from the “adult” world but I am sure the bullies are watching and will instantly repent.

It’s not for everyone, but if you’re an insipid idiot, who believes everything they see on CNN, and use it as fact, and for credibility, then you watch that channel. I for one, would rather gather my info from all over, and not base my opinions on obviously blatant, one sided political hackery.

My problem with the kid isn’t that he’s refusing to say the pledge to protest for gay marriage – it was the lame attempt to bolster his argument by saying “Plus, you know, there’s still racism and sexism in the world” (paraphrasing). First off, America can’t really do much with racism and sexism outside our borders. Secondly, just because some idiots are still racist and sexist doesn’t mean miniorites and women don’t have the same rights as everyone else in this country now. So, why the connection between saying the pledge and that? By making such a stupid argument, it was clear to me this kid is the product of at least some liberal brainwashing.

Well, my understanding is that in this context the term (if taken literally, though I’ve never heard it used that way) refers to ejaculated fluid, and is often the second half of a composite word (following a word starting with the 4th consonant of the Latin alphabet and rhyming with “truck”).

This is idiotic for a couple of reasons. First of all, she doesn’t sound the least bit authentic calling them “wads… dork wads.” She sounds just like the parent that tries to be cool but fails oh so miserably. Secondly, the whole “jealousy” thing is total bullshit 99% of the time, and no kid ever actually believes it.

I’ve never heard it used in that context. I’ve heard “gay/geek/dork wad” back when I was in elementary school, but I’ve never heard the word “wad” itself used as an insult. A wad of what? We may never know.
Dude, I read a book that used the word “clip” in reference to an M-16 magazine and thought of you. I thought “Noooo! It’s a magazine, not a clip! MadCon would so not like that!”:-)

I’m not realy an Onion fan (some of their videos are funny), but if you watch a news story these days and wonder to yourself “I can’t believe the media just said that.” – go do a site search on the onion. They did it, 10 years ago. And now it’s seriously reported as news. It’s a joke, it really is. But not on the Onion.
And the Onion is generally leftist, too. There’s a bigger point there, too. Liberals complain about things they imagine the right doing; but they are the ones who end up doing it – and then justifying it later.

Originally the insult was “d*ckwad” -a “wad” being the [sperm] “load“, from the root word: [cotton] “wadding“, used in early rifles as a packing material.
“Dorkwad” is the supposedly “softer” p.c. version, although “dork” originally meant a dildo, or fake phallus, ~so, essentialy, this is a supposedly hamless “silly sound“, used by people who have no idea how really crude and obnoxious they are being.
Similar to: “scumbag“, which originally meant testicles (”scum” also once meant sperm ), but has morphed into an ambiguous “goofy noise” insult.
Scatology is a strange bondage and discipline.

Years ago when I was about eleven I was bullied. Back then CNN didn’t have the distribution in my hometown that it enjoys today. So I had to deal with the bullies my own way…beating them with a tee-ball bat the next time they came after me.
The bullies sure left me alone after that. I’m not convinced the CNN reprimand method will be as effective.

Getting teased by his peers for being silly is actually good for the kid. At best, it might teach him a lesson and at worst, it hardens him up for the rest of his life. He shouldn’t expect everyone to support his political nonsense.
