Breitbart to Eric Holder: Investigate ACORN or we’ll release more tapes — before the election

I do not believe him to be bluffing. I am not sure, but do not believe so, and I have my reasons for so thinking.

If he is not bluffing, and what he has is of the kind that I but think it is, with only the scale of the offense being the variable, then this message needs to be understood loud and clear by them who need to understand it: the damage is already done. It’s already over. Let us not make it worse–because it can be made worse, far worse, and not because some man calls for it out of spite, but because the spirit of the people is such that certain things attempted will. be. repudiated. Always. So don’t do it. Don’t defend it if it is what I think it is.

For if it is, it’s over–and quite a bit will be over, actually, but it doesn’t matter. All the MSM spinning in the world cannot, repeat cannot, save certain things–and they are not things worth saving. You cannot do evil to do good. So don’t defend it. Because you can’t defend it, you won’t defend it, you can’t win, and you won’t win, and it’s entirely the fault of the side that did it for doing it to start with. So it’s over. They lose. Just figure out how badly you want to win in support of them, because that is how badly we will all lose. Period.

For this is a democratic Republic of equal individuals, and though one day we may lose all sense of right and wrong, that day is not yet, and thus certain things just are not going to be permissible; and the mere fact that they were gotten away with for a while does not mean they will either be gotten away with forever, nor forgiven when discovered. For that is not in the nature of liberty-loving men. This problem will not be “Alinskied”-out of; it will not be spun; it will not be put to rest with slanted polls and saying that certain news organizations are illegitimate. It is–once again, if it is as widespread and serious an issue that I can but imagine–a little more weighty than that. For the people are not a beast to be ridden by elites, booted and spurred, because they think them best able to lead the beast to water. So don’t try to manage something that should not be managed. Just take the loss and learn from it, as a person of integrity does.

And so the choice is before you, you being those who are going to have a choice between supporting honor or faction, and are going to have to make it, and are going to have to stand by that choice, to be known by that choice, to be defined by that choice for all of history.

And the choice is this, from the Bard: “What say you? Will you yield, and this avoid, or guilty in defense, be thus destroyed?” Because we are going to have a rule of law Republic with each citizen the equal of every other, and each citizen respected not on the basis of wealth, birth, education, or belief, but on the virtue and wisdom that resides within.

We are not going to do evil to do good. And that’s all there is too it. And so you that will choose, it is time to start thinking of that choice, and to choose wisely. Accept your loss so that we can all gain. Because if this is what I believe it may be, then you will not win. Ever.

When the facts come out, let us all look upon them and learn from them; let those that need to atone do so, or be made to do so; let those who did the good be goodly rewarded; and those done bad be made whole as best as we can make them whole. And, finally, let us always remember that both civilizations and Republics are strong and yet also fragile, and while they may absorb heavy blows, they cannot do so indefinitely; and that if we here have been given a gift of Providence in order that we should avoid greater calamity later, let us use it wisely, and learn that self-governing Republics do not have self-limiting lifespans by nature, but only by nurture, a nurturing, through either negligence or intention, of a spirit that says the ends justifies the means in the acquisition of power.
