Senate demands answers from Obama administration on Ft Hood failures

The White House’s attempt to stall Congress on an investigation into the failure to stop Army Major Nidal Hasan from conducting a terrorist attack at Fort Hood appears to have produced the kind of bipartisanship Barack Obama claims to treasure. Unfortunately for Obama, the Senate has united in an effort to tell the President to cooperate or face subpoenas. Along with Republicans, Joe Lieberman and Partrick Leahy said they will proceed with investigations and expect the White House to produce the data and witnesses they need:
A bipartisan group of senators began a concerted push Wednesday to get more cooperation from the Obama administration in its reviews of the Fort Hood shootings, which left 13 dead and a raft of questions about information-sharing among intelligence agencies.
In addition to the public hearings that Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman (I-Conn.) is set to begin Thursday, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick J. Leahy (D-Vt.) demanded Wednesday that his panel receive the results of a White House review of agency investigations of suspect Nidal M. Hasan’s communications with a radical Muslim cleric who has ties to al-Qaeda. …
Sen. Herb Kohl (D-Wis.), a senior member of the Judiciary Committee, was unmollified, telling the attorney general: “The FBI did not pursue an investigation of [Hasan] because they concluded that the e-mails were consistent with his research at Walter Reed, and no contact was made with the Department of Defense. I understand that a thorough investigation will take time to complete, but we need to protect our troops now.”
And that’s the point. Congress has no need to interrogate witnesses to the actual shooting, which is the focus of the Pentagon and the DoJ at the moment. They do need to find out how a man in repeated contact with the enemy could have been ignored for so long, especially since he was dangerously incompetent at his job.
Susan Collins had already been outspoken about the Obama administration’s attempt to stonewall on Hasan:
Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) is criticizing the Obama administration’s briefings on the Ft. Hood massacre, saying that information provided by the Defense Department and the FBI in a closed door meeting Tuesday “raised many troubling questions.”
The briefing, coordinated by the National Security Committee, for House and Senate leaders was scheduled after the administration bowed out of a closed hearing of the Senate Armed Services Committee that was supposed to happen on Monday.
Collins, the ranking Republican on the Senate Homeland Security Committee, said she’s calling on the administration to work with the committee to cooperate with its investigation of the Nov. 5 shooting deaths at Ft. Hood. Army psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan has been charged with the crime, which Collins called “certainly” an example of home-grown terrorism.
The investigation into the shootings themselves and discovering why no one wanted to connect the dots on Hasan are both high priorities. We can do both at the same time, and Congress is right to demand cooperation from Obama and the executive branch on the question of homeland security and proper threat analysis. Thus far, we have had only one failure, but fourteen people are dead from it and dozens wounded. We need to prevent another failure before more people get killed. That’s at least as important as pursuing the investigation into the Fort Hood massacre itself.

The Wingman series? Awesome books, and as you said frighteningly not that far from fiction.
I highly recommend the Ashes series. Similar plotline, but without anywhere as much gratuitous sex, and the author specifically gives libtards and their philosophy (such as it is) both barrels on a regular basis. Especially in the field of crime and punishment.

We really did see a serious downgrade over political correctness since Bush left office, and the Congress now is seeing this. If we have a really serious attack, after the public has been well informed, even over the mainstream media about this terrorist Hasan, Congress knows their constituents are watching.
Obama’s mistakes are coming home to roost… jobs, KSM in NYC court, Healthcare, Cap ‘n Trade, Hasan, ACORN, Van Jones… Obama has run out of feet to shoot to have any chance at all for reelection in 2012.

Wingman series, yes! And I think I read some of the Ashes series, too. They were all great reads, and helped me along the way from the liberalism of my college days.

The investigation was alive and ongoing through the end of the Bush Administration.
In my link above it points out at exactly the time the Obama administration and DOJ took over the investigation was ended by orders!
This sounds like the work of Holder who is lock step, hooked at the hip, same mindset as Pinnochio, following Pinnochio’s orders but willing to take the fall for the cause!
Holder will pay if anyone does and Pinnochio will escape as Pinnochio did to Treasure Island!
Same thing going on with Geitner and some are saying he may not survive the payoffs to AIG and Goldman Sachs. Gave em a blank check and may be gone!

Wingman? I believe I remember reading one book in that series. I recall it was sort of alternate history and the progatonist was from the regular timeline?
If you want a real good read I suggest the Posleen series by John Ringo but for a great book from within that series get a copy of Watch on the Rhine by Ringo and Tom Kratman, both are ex US Army. They take potshots at Liberalism, the Greens and the Communists every chance they get.
There is another author. Posts on Arthur’s Hall of Viking Manliness, goes by the internet handle Einarr but is infact an author by the name of Michael Z. Williamson who is currently in the National Guard.

This administration should walk the plank…soon please
19 repubs voted for Holder

I’m happy to hear this. Now I only hope that cover ups to protect any information, or evidence, that might cast a bad light on the administration, or anyone else, doesn’t play out. This was a situation that could have been prevented, and for Obama to not want an investigation begs the question. Why?

Nice that in the Pinnochio administration the number of unemployed Americans is now nearing the number of employed Illegal Aliens!
If we could just pass free healthscare for all and Amnesty this would solve _______?

Wrongo, although I know there is a series in which that happens.
Wingman plot in a nutshell: Cold War turns hot, Hawk Hunter helps kick Soviet tush, last-minute bomber offensive kicks arse to the point of Russian surrender. USA is backstabbed at the last minute by a traitor POTUS (or perhaps VPOTUS, I forget). America goes to heck in a handbasket, followed by rest of world.

1) the need for any future elections
2) the bother of referring to “pesky” foundational documents by which our nation has been governed for over 200 years
3) any opposition to our anointed Democrat masters
4) personal liberty
5) the continued existence of the Republic
6) all of the above

And as horrific [Apparently not all that horific to him] as this tragedy was, if our diversity [He is referring to Muslim "diversity" obviously as this has nothing to do with any other kind of "diversity"] becomes a casualty, I think that’s worse.

Congress will soon restate the diversity imperative. Obama will then let congress pretend to investigate.

Worried about that.
I do approve of this, as it stands…but, we’ll see how bold they remain.

Obama has already shot himself in the foot on this one. It’s about like the Gates affair. He spoke too soon in a way that puts him on the wrong side of the event.

dhunter.. you wrote the thing I noticed:
How is this not getting more notice?
The investigation WAS active and stopped…, If there never was an investigation, okay, I can see this not falling on PBHO’s head, but if it was stopped by exec.request, that’s directly who it falls on.

You’re 12 times more likely to die from accidental suffocation in bed than from a terrorist attack… yet we’re going to spend trillions of dollars trying futilely to prevent terrorist attacks, and our media and government will spend untold hours convincing the public that the government needs more power and money to protect them from something that throughout history has been an incredibly tiny risk to the average person.
This is yet another example of that. Take a nutball who goes postal, and he’s suddenly another excuse for the government to grow another department or two, require a few more billion dollars, and another excuse for the media to scare the crap out of the masses with FUD.

It might help your argument if you could cite something other that a single 2 year old post from a blog that apparently doesn’t even exist any more. Not questioning the numbers, but can you do better?

It matters not one wit if we consider ourselves at war with islam. islam is at war with all free men, and seeks to enslave the world.
Join the religion of Blood and Death, pay the jizya or die.
These are your choices.
I choose the 4th way. Resistance. No footbaths, no muslims only prayer facilities in public buildings,(college campuses, airports etc.)
Submission to islam never ends. It begins with small things and never stops. Each and every small step on the way to an islamic republic must be resisted.
This war had been going on since mo (Piss Be Upon Him) invented his perverted religion to enrich himself and allow him to live out his sexual fantasies.
I see muslims as the victims of islam. Brainwashed in some cases from birth to believe in islamic supremacy.
If islam will not reform then it must cease to exist and the slaves of islam set free. One may hate the sin without hating the sinner.
No islam…Know Peace
Know islam…throw up.

I got this in an email and don’t know, but if it’s true it would explain a lot of things.
Hasan was on Obama’s Homeland Security Transition Team!
They did a great job of checking him out, didn’t they? Does this explain why nothing was done after his red flag behavior?? Unbelievable! You’ll find his name on page 29 in 0bama’s report at the link below: It could be on more pages but I found this one.
