New L.A. ACORN sting: Why, sure I’ll help you launder money to pimp underaged girls

posted at 9:03 pm on November 19, 2009 by Allahpundit

I should have known better than to doubt Patterico. Fifteen minutes of fun this time; if you can’t spare it, watch the highlight reel at the beginning of clip one and then 90 seconds starting at 1:45 of clip two. That’s where our heroine lets us know just how far she’s willing to go to prove her nonjudgmentalism about child sex slavery. Fair warning, though: If you don’t watch the whole thing, you’ll miss the part where she drops Larry Flynt’s name.

What makes this sting a bit more special than the rest is that the star’s already been featured in connection with the scandal. Patterico’s been needling LA Times columnist James Rainey for weeks over a column he wrote in late September defending ACORN, in which he uncritically accepted the assurances of a certain local employee that there’s no funny business going on in the L.A. office:

No one at Fox apparently bothered to try to verify the fantastical claims of a San Bernardino ACORN worker who said on another video that she had killed her ex-husband. Police have since said her former spouses are alive and well.

And visits to other ACORN offices have gone almost entirely unmentioned. Lavelle Stewart, a fair-housing coordinator in the group’s Los Angeles office, told me this week that she tried to get the “prostitute,” who claimed she had been beaten by her pimp, to go to a women’s center.

“The fact she was not taking the help I offered her made me think something was not right,” Stewart said. “It raised a red flag.”

Meet Lavelle Stewart. Can’t wait for Rainey’s next column.

The problem with “journalists” like Rainey is that they are more interested in creating reality than reporting on it.

BigAlSouth on November 20, 2009 at 6:27 AM

Nothing wrong with that.

You forgot the sarc tags…a good person embracing child prostitution…these ACORN employees have no, not one bit of sense of morality.
A “good person” doesn’t help in trafficking child prostitution…you are an example of why our court system can’t convict people that do wrong…they are basically “good people” in your eyes.

The “Shadow Party” is a term originally devised by journalists to describe “527″ political committees promoting Democratic Party agendas. It is here used more specifically to refer to the network of non-profit activist groups organized by George Soros and others to mobilize resources — money, get-out-the-vote drives, campaign advertising and policy iniatives — to elect Democratic candidates and guide the Democratic Party towards the left. The Internet fund-raising operation MoveOn.org is a key component. The Shadow Party in this sense was conceived and organized principally by Soros, Hillary Clinton and Harold Ickes. Its efforts are amplified by, and coordinated with, key government unions and the activist groups associated with the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN). The key organizers of these groups are veterans of the Sixties left.

Great Site by David Horowitz
Acorn is well funded and doesn’t need Government money, but it will get it one way or the other.
We have a shadow government now. G Soros is investing heavy in rouge nations. ObaMao is tasked with opening these centralized markets and enslaving the US market so G Soros can cash in and reward all those who are helping him take over the world. God Help US!!

Senate approves ACORN/abortion radical judge David Hamilton
By Michelle Malkin • November 19, 2009 03:59 PM

David Hamilton is a hard Left, former ACORN fund-raiser and abortion radical who was rated “not qualified” by the ABA.

Now, via LifeNews, he is federal judge:

Sen. Jim DeMint, a pro-life senator from South Carolina, agreed.

“Judge Hamilton is the definition of an activist judge and is clearly not qualified to sit on a court of appeals,” DeMint said during the debate. “Hamilton, who spent years working with the ACLU and ACORN, has used his position on the bench to drive his personal political agenda.”

BigAlSouth-It would be simple enough for the California Attorney General to launch an investigation and find out if this is made up or not.More likely, however, the AG will investigate the two undercover journalists instead.

rogersnowden on November 20, 2009 at 9:10 AM

This story is simply fascinating. It was so smart to hold back on some more tapes.

I cannot wait to hear what the “other” groups are. SEIU?

AnninCA on November 20, 2009 at 9:30 AM

I hate to admit such, but i have known people such as this lady before and have worked with people who are street wise. Got an education as to how it works.
This lady is a predator and a hustler. She is look for a cut on the side and to get some of her “people” involved to bum rush these two.”How can i take what is yours, make it mine and make a profit from it?” Acorn is filled with nothing but thugs and hustlers looking to get over on people and then get over on the government. And just think, the biggest one of all is sitting “Mac Daddy” style in the White House!

How’s Lavelle’s job situation this morning?

unclesmrgol on November 20, 2009 at 11:11 AM

From the Rainey piece that Patterico skewered:

But then, journalists are supposed to take the raw material and meld it into something more meaningful. That requires context, proportion and, above all, a sense of reality.

Little wonder “journalism” is so corrupt.

RushBaby on November 20, 2009 at 11:28 AM

I have to admit, while this obviously reflects horribly on ACORN as a tax-funded organization, Lavelle personally is probably one of the more sympathetic individuals we’ve seen in any of these tapes. I, at least, got the sense that she didn’t just smell money, but was interested in doing the best for people in a bad situation, out of which she probably knew she wasn’t going to talk them. True, that ultimately would mean abusing funds for illegal activities, which is where the federal support comes into unequivocal question. But I don’t know. I’m inclined to give her, personally, a bit of a break.

Blacklake on November 20, 2009 at 12:20 PM

***
Lavelle comes through as a sympathetic clueless person. But if this had been 2 FBI agents recording her she could find herself charged with conspiracy to violate the Mann Act, money laundering laws, and fraud charges. Lots of jail time could be coming.
***
But A.G. Holder has a lot of bigger fish to fry–like ex-post-facto persecutions of CIA Agents for protecting our country against more terrorist attacks.
***
The hits just keep coming. ACORN seems to lack some ethics training programs for their employees!

Why do people pretend ACORN is anything more than Carnys? ACORN Walnut how cute.

Shell Game (shell-and-pea game, three-shell game) — One of the ‘big three’ dishonest street games sometimes played on the long-ago carnival lot (the others are ‘fast and loose’ and ‘three-card monte’). Played, like the other two, on a small portable tabletop. Three hollow half-walnut-shells are mixed around rapidly on the tabletop, and the bettor (victim) attempts to keep track of and guess which one hides a little dried pea. But with simple sleight of hand, the grifter can easily control (both while the shells are being mixed and after the guess is made) whether the pea appears under any pea he likes. This enables a skilled operator to put on a performance that attracts swiftly-escalating bets and walk away with big money every time.

It’s never been a legitimate organization that is the pretense the cover…just a bunch of Carnys, who figured out how to shake down the Government for the people’s money.

Actually, the most exciting part of all this was Breitbart’s not so thinly veiled threat regarding the videos they’ve got in hand not being limited to ACORN employees. I wanna see those videos REAL bad.

Lavelle kept saying that this sort of thing is not new. Apparently she knows of other operations of child destruction. Is nobody going to ask her what she knows? To me this is very frightening.

Criminy! What is wrong with these people? Our government is so corrupt! How did we get to where we are today? It’s like there is a whole world out there of completely corrupt people… and they sound nice and normal! Lavelle sounds like a normal person as she says she will check up on how to get things going! What kind of parents raised kids like this? How do you not blink?

This and what congress is doing with healthcare right now is just impossible to believe. I think someone should wake me up from this terrible dream.

Why does Beck keep going on and on about corruption in both parties? There is nothing even close to this on the right! Not international child prostitution. All these folks… they don’t even blink! It is just how the world works for them!!!!!

Ugggggg!!! How did they get control of the Democratic Party! How did that happen?
