Jesse Jackson: “You can’t vote against healthcare and call yourself a black man”

Via Weasel Zippers. Just tossing it out there as a public service announcement, as a friendly reminder to black conservatives that they’re not really black.

The power of excommunication is an awesome power indeed, my friends. I wonder if he and the Pope ever kibbitz about it.

The Rev. Jesse Jackson on Wednesday night criticized Rep. Artur Davis (D-Ala.) for voting against the Democrats’ signature healthcare bill.

“We even have blacks voting against the healthcare bill,” Jackson said at a reception Wednesday night. “You can’t vote against healthcare and call yourself a black man.”

Davis’s overly conciliatory yet drily withering response:

Davis referred to Jackson’s 1988 run for president in a statement, issued through his office, that said he would not engage Jackson on his criticism.

“One of the reasons that I like and admire Rev. Jesse Jackson is that 21 years ago he inspired the idea that a black politician would not be judged simply as a black leader,” Davis’s statement said. “The best way to honor Rev. Jackson’s legacy is to decline to engage in an argument with him that begins and ends with race.”

Ironically, Jackson might have done Davis a favor here. Davis is running for governor of Alabama and doubtless feels pressure, as Obama did, to prove that he’s a Democratic candidate, not a “black candidate”; getting demagogued by this race-baiting bottom-feeder helps him in the same way that getting demagogued by Sharpton early on helped The One. In fact, it’s useful enough that I might suspect collusion, if not for the fact that Jackson has been bullying people this way for decades.

Speaking of telling black conservatives what is and isn’t okay for them to like, here’s some deep thoughts from tonight’s “Hardball” via Greg Hengler. Exit question: Will our post-racial president be coming to Davis’s aid on this one or will he be left to suffer in silence in the interests of passing ObamaCare?

Real subtle of Tingles to label all Palin supporters as a bunch of angry white people. BTW, that’s gonna be a major narrative pushed by the drive-bys if it’s Obama vs. Palin in 2012. White woman vs. (half)black man.

Now I’ll be hitting 2 Sunday services. Early mass and a stop in Pompano to hear what Rev. Oneal Dozier has to say about this. Google him, great local conservative!

Jesse Jackson can’t call himself a real man, because he’s nothing but a shake-down thug. He’s never had an honest job in his life.

What’s worse – this or what Glenn Beck said?

Dumb Jesse
Conservatives aren’t voting against healthcare. We have healthcare now. conservatives are voting against the Feds seizing healthcare industry.

Will this even be reported in the MSM?

Obama calls people racist like ten times a day. Why is it a big deal to call him a racist?

I think Obama’s an idiot. You can’t disagree with me and call yourself a white man. /s

Whats with this stupid dude? Where did he get his “Reverend” degree? I just wish he and Sharpton deal with the Gospel and other spiritual matters and forget politics. I think the ignoramus has it backwards. Sometimes I wonder if he got his degree out of a cereal box.

Superb. +10. I also have no idea whatsoever what is so wrong with Beck calling Obama a racist. In the words of John Adams, “Facts are stubborn things.”

The only way to honor Rev. Jackson’s legacy is to begin with “Sugar Daddy” and ends with “Shakedown”.
And that sums up the cancer on our nation that is Jesse Jackson.

Jesse says if you don’t collect welfare, become dependent on the government for the necessities of life and be subservient to white liberals then you can’t call yourself a black man.

AaronGuzman on November 19, 2009 at 12:53 AM

After viewing this latest edition of nonsense-babble from Matthews I really do believe that he not only has a sexual fetish for black commuity leaders but at some future date will attempt to undergo skin pigmentation coloring to attain the color of choice he so vehemently defends while putting down the rest of us white-a$$ honky crackers.

Goldy1 on November 19, 2009 at 12:56 AM

White against others, Matthews says, as usual, without a single fact to even suggest that. He is another disgusting race baiter.

GaltBlvnAtty on November 19, 2009 at 1:08 AM

“You can’t vote against healthcare and call yourself a black man.”

The good reverend would feel much better if good blacks would simply follow his shinning example.
1) Be non productive
2) Blame whitey
3) Maintain mistresses/girlfriends
4) Father illigitimate children
5) Shake down the producers of this country
6) Demand more govt handouts
7) Kneecap dissenting minority voices
8) Create multi-generaional dependency
7) Learn how to use race baiting for the power, the money and the chics.

Jackson’s whole persona is so 1980s. He might as well roll up the sleeves of his linen jacket and wear espadrilles because the whole social justice gig is now being run out of the White House. As a result, Jesse has been reduced to yelling from the back of the room “yeah, what he said!”

Racist is as racist does…

Gohawgs on November 19, 2009 at 2:00 AM

http://www.veteranoutrage.com

Thats because all the liberals want the abortion provision put into place

To cover up all of their sexual escapades with
their mistresses, underage girls and having this option makes it easier to hide their adultry.

Oh yea what ever happened to his mistress whom he paid off with funds from his rainbow co-olition..

I noticed there was never any lawsuits..
intersting.. very interesting..

veteranoutrage on November 19, 2009 at 2:26 AM

It seems as though everyone who has anything to say about it is trying their hardest to ensure that no black person can ever become president. The majority will never again voluntarily sign up for four years of being accused of being racists. This may occur as early as 2012.

just for the effect.

Enough of this crap.

I’ve always thought that Martin Luther King’s murder was a page from the Nation Of Islam playbook, but gussied up with a white shooter. I don’t think James Earl Ray ever knew who really put him up to it.
Who profited by Malcolm X’s death? He’s sitll in Harlem.
Who profited by Dr. King’s? His extortion racket is still going strong.

Just sayin’.

So how is Matthews identifying the crowd at Palin’s book signing as “white”, and as a ” a tribal” thing, not profiling?

tired of being oppressed as a “black man” .. vote against ObamaCare and you days of oppression are over.

MSNBC’s primetime line-up is rather monochromatic. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Did I mention they were all white? Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Matthews is a moron.

ynot4tony2 on November 19, 2009 at 9:34 AM

Palm meet grease. Jesse doesn’t say anything without some kind of payday. Black conservative consider themselves Americans first without a hyphen, as we all should.

You must have group think or be disowned by elites!

I’m sorry black conservatives! Your thinking isn’t the problem. This can’t be fun for you.

petunia on November 19, 2009 at 10:39 AM

Screw cris mathews. He is the voice of what is wrong with America.

saiga on November 19, 2009 at 10:49 AM

Jackson is absolutely right. Race no longer involves ethnicity or color in America; instead, it has become purely a matter of politics. That is why Clarence Thomas is not black, and why it was acceptable for newspapers to publish blatently racist cartoons of Condi Rice. That is why no one flinched when Bill Clinton grandeliquently styled himself “the first black President.”

I salute Glenn Beck for giving a voice to black conservatives, and I salute those conservatives for having the courage to resist the incredible pressures exerted against them. Kenneth Gladney’s beating at the hands of SEIU thugs at a conservative rally in St. Louis shows that black conservatives have more to deal with than simple peer pressure. That Gladney’s attacker shouted “What kind of n***** are you?!!” while beating this black conservative perfectly demonstrates that race in America is determined by a person’s politics.

Obama: “They Bring a Knife…We Bring a Gun”

Obama to His Followers: “Get in Their Faces!”

Obama on ACORN Mobs: “I don’t want to quell anger. I think people are right to be angry! I’m angry!”

Venusian Visitor on November 19, 2009 at 11:16 AM

“The best way to honor Rev. Jackson’s legacy is to decline to engage in an argument with him that begins and ends with race.”

Davis’ response will go down as one of the wittiest things a politician has ever said. He’s telling Jackson that Jackson belongs to the past, and has no power in the present.

Jackson seemingly hasn’t listened to MLK in ages. Maybe he needs to replay a few of the old speeches.

unclesmrgol on November 19, 2009 at 12:13 PM

After more than 45 years Jesse Jackson is not the best representation of this statement:

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. – MLK, Jr., 1963

I sure hope that MLK, Jr. was speaking as if his children represented all children of the future. I think he was.
.
Why hasn’t this high-minded philosophy been totally embraced by Jesse Jackson and the other contemporaries of MLK, Jr.? Could it be a “character” issue?

ExpressoBold on November 19, 2009 at 12:16 PM

So, Jesse is back trying to tell people who is and isn’t black, eh? Here is a little something I wrote during the 2000 election. The numbers may be a little out of date, but the principle remains valid:

Top 10 Reasons Jesse Jackson Is Not A Black Man

10. Only 1% of black Americans feel that reforming the justice system is a top priority.

9. 54% who had an opinion felt that government programs are part of the problem rather than part of the solution.

8. 51% feel that things in their community are going in the right direction.

7. 60% support equal opportunity employment practices that do not use government-imposed racial quotas.

6. 70% believe there is a limited role for government in solving today’s challenges, but that family, faith and community are ultimately the best solutions.

5. Over 70% of blacks favor vouchers or other types of school choice.

4. 79% support the use of local community policing programs in neighborhoods to help stop crime and to build trust with the local police.

3. 82% of blacks favor parental consent for minors seeking abortion.

2. 89% believe that “the future of our children is good education and making better schools for our children depends more on parents and communities getting involved in the schools rather than government programs and mandates.”

1. 90% agreed that promoting strong moral values, like personal responsibility and honesty, are the best chance we have to improving most of our society’s problems.

Jesse Jackson has personally or through support of the Democratic party platform betrayed each of these ideals held by a majority of black Americans. I therefore conclude that Mr. Jackson is not a legitimate black person and demand that he turn in his race card immediately.
