Video: 10-year-old refuses to pledge allegiance until gays can marry
posted at 5:51 pm on November 17, 2009 by Allahpundit
Via Greg Hengler, a palate cleanser you’ll never forget. Normally I’d suspect the parent of having put the kid up to this, but nope — not in this case. It’s actually a cute interview, but as an added incentive to watch, I’ll tell you now that the quote of the day is buried somewhere within. You’ll know it when you hear it.
I hope dad’s teaching him how to fight because this poor kid is probably in for a rough eight years until college. Exit question: You know who would be a sweet debating partner for him? Dude.

Blowback

Would a 10 year old who would refused to say the pledge until roe vs wade was overturned be featured on CNN?
ninjapirate on November 17, 2009 at 5:54 PM
Would this kid be featured on fox news?

The kid’s all right.
Might as well be in favor of gay marriage now, it will save us a lot of trouble re-amending our state constitutions in a few years when we realize what a bunch of bigoted jerks we were.
Enrique on November 17, 2009 at 5:56 PM
SHAZAM.
Allahpundit on November 17, 2009 at 5:56 PM
Someone who’s not even old enough to vote refusing to pledge allegiance to the United States because it refuses to redefine marriage.
How is that a “palate cleanser”?
amerpundit on November 17, 2009 at 5:56 PM
Most kids his age are interested in sports and cars – not gay marriage. What a nerd. And looking at his photo – it may the only way he gets laid.
Blake on November 17, 2009 at 5:56 PM
SNAP.
Allahpundit on November 17, 2009 at 5:56 PM
“… and to the republic …”
Obviously he has a problem with that part.
Ronnie on November 17, 2009 at 5:56 PM
The kid must be a huge Brad Pitt fan! That school must be a rough place where sexism and racism run rampant. What would make this perfect if he refused partly because of the ‘under God’ part.
Spirit of 1776 on November 17, 2009 at 5:56 PM
I don’t condone beating your children, but in this case….
Future Harvard professor.
HornetSting on November 17, 2009 at 5:57 PM
I wonder if he is looking to the future
Aggie95 on November 17, 2009 at 5:58 PM
Winner in one. That doesn’t happen very often.
portlandon on November 17, 2009 at 5:58 PM
Gays and lesbians have civil rights and liberty and justice for all…they just cant marry.
becki51758 on November 17, 2009 at 5:59 PM
What about polygamists and such? He doesn’t think they deserve “rights,” too???
Narutoboy on November 17, 2009 at 5:59 PM
I have no problem with kids that are interested in issues speaking on them, but how does a 10 yr old really understand homosexuality? Isnt gay secks above his ken? Isnt hetero secks above his ken?
di butler on November 17, 2009 at 5:59 PM
That is a more interesting question… I doubt they would… if some other outlet picked it up then they would jump on it….
ninjapirate on November 17, 2009 at 6:00 PM
Wow, AP, am I impressed! You’ve actually abandoned today’s endless supply of Sarah Palin stories, however briefly — a/k/a Shooting-Fish-in-a-Barrel, Guaranteed-1000-comment posts where HA readers can drag out those old canned responses once again (“I love that woman!,” “You GO, ‘Cuda!,” “I smell fear,” etc., etc., etc., ad nauseum) — for something that requires a smidgen of thought!
Yeah, I’m a troll, because I think the Palin fanatics, with this absolute, relentless and unquestioning idolatry are unwittingly poisoning any chance she has of holding elected office again. That’s a shame, really.
MrScribbler on November 17, 2009 at 6:00 PM
Peter Orszag is for gay rights???
WhatsRight on November 17, 2009 at 6:00 PM
Yeah, this little rat isn’t being influenced by his parental units AT ALL. He came up with this all by his little self.
Whatevs.
This is an idiotic story for an idiotic time.
mjk on November 17, 2009 at 6:00 PM
Let us hope the kid is one misguided idiot and not representative of stupid future generations.
Obviously Liberalism is a inherited genetic mental disorder and for the good of Society Liberals should be prevented from having Progeny.
Holger on November 17, 2009 at 6:00 PM
Heh, ‘severe ramification’. Chicks from Berkeley and daughters of Senators from AZ are lining up outside his door.
Spirit of 1776 on November 17, 2009 at 6:00 PM
We have soldiers dying overseas to keep us safe. The Constitution guarantees this kid the right to say whatever he wants. And yet he won’t pledge allegiance to his country because gays can’t get married.
Little snot.
amerpundit on November 17, 2009 at 6:02 PM
Someone say something witty so Allah can reply with “oh no you didn’t” for the trifecta.
batterup on November 17, 2009 at 6:02 PM
Im sure Fox would have this kid on. They’ve had atheists on, they’ve had other kids who wont say the pledge.
becki51758 on November 17, 2009 at 6:03 PM
There is not liberty and justice for all because Gays and lesbians can’t marry and there is still racism and sexism in the world.
All righty then. He’ll make a fine ACLU lawyer.
My opinion is that this little stunt will plague him for many years to come.
RagTag on November 17, 2009 at 6:03 PM
Put the kid on “Countdown” sitting next to gay marraige supporter Michae Musto and with Keith Olbermann prodding him for 10 minutes and the poor kid will probably start talking about gay marriage like an Islamic fundamentalist…
jon1979 on November 17, 2009 at 6:03 PM
It doesn’t have to be something witty. Just something that’s pro-gay marriage. Calling the majority of Americans bigoted isn’t witty.
amerpundit on November 17, 2009 at 6:03 PM
Kid’s upset because he’s gay.
GarandFan on November 17, 2009 at 6:03 PM
He sounds like a little Hollyweirdo-bot. Gays and Lesbians can marry. Just not people of the same sex. It’s the definition that they want changed and that is what I have a problem with.
JAM on November 17, 2009 at 6:04 PM
That’s my girl…!
Seven Percent Solution on November 17, 2009 at 6:04 PM
Hmmmm. Who on earth would call this little boy with lots of gay friends a ‘gay wad’?
clorensen on November 17, 2009 at 6:04 PM
Glad hes not living in Iran or Saudi Arabia.
becki51758 on November 17, 2009 at 6:04 PM
They would have the majority if not only viewers who knew the Pledge of Allegiance.
On the other hand – CNN now has 5 more viewers, so the number of viewers has doubled.
jdkchem on November 17, 2009 at 6:04 PM
Palin’s a newsworthy topic this week, in case you haven’t heard. And by the time my shift on the blog kicks in at 3:30, Ed’s already taken care of a lot of bloggable stories.
Allahpundit on November 17, 2009 at 6:06 PM
Someone is behind this for it to find its way on TV. Not like the Libs won’t use kids to promote their agenda afterall.
pathetic
jp on November 17, 2009 at 6:06 PM
I’m trying to think of how one of my boys would have ever come to this kind of action at 10 years old. Bikes, street hockey and baseball consumed most of their time after school and on weekends. No way would the implications of gay marriage amendments have entered into their thought processes. Gotta be macho man sitting next to him.
DanMan on November 17, 2009 at 6:06 PM
How about the ever popular:
Oh my.
Dude.
Dr. Carlo Lombardi on November 17, 2009 at 6:06 PM
Are you implying that he has a better chance tapping MegMac than a certain blogger?
jdkchem on November 17, 2009 at 6:07 PM
Ummm if you remember early 80 or late 70′s cartoons… I think Allah is going for that trifecta.
KaPOW!
upinak on November 17, 2009 at 6:07 PM
Have there always been shifts? I thought the two of you used to blog simultaneously.
amerpundit on November 17, 2009 at 6:07 PM
Who would’ve thought that bloggers are slaves to the time clock :P
lorien1973 on November 17, 2009 at 6:07 PM
I say let the kid spend a weekend at Barney Frank’s house.
Star20 on November 17, 2009 at 6:07 PM
Awwww, aren’t brainwashed leftist children sooooo cute. And he wants to be a lawyer. I’m sure he’ll find lots of people to sue in this evil, unjust country. I’d start with whomever robbed him of his childhood and turned him into a humorless, robotic shill for the gay political agenda — at the tender age of 10.
Rational Thought on November 17, 2009 at 6:07 PM
By What Standard? is the question to ask the ‘kid’ here, which liberals in general have a kid like mentality.
jp on November 17, 2009 at 6:08 PM
Anyone know what the QOTD will be… I didn’t bother watching the video…
ninjapirate on November 17, 2009 at 6:08 PM
Someone’s lining up a ‘sham wow’ back up gig.
BadgerHawk on November 17, 2009 at 6:08 PM
“I pledge allegiance to the f…..” OOPSE, can we start over?
marklmail on November 17, 2009 at 6:08 PM
Huh..
I guess you missed where a bunch of Palinista’s were goofing on Palin and the “Turkey” video.
So you may wanna go back and reharsh your comment.
upinak on November 17, 2009 at 6:09 PM
The pledge is a bit of mockery when you consider that caucasian heterosexuals are legally discriminated against with policies like affirmative action and hate crime laws.
Buddahpundit on November 17, 2009 at 6:09 PM
Just because he equates liberty and justice with gay marriage is not an indication that he doesn’t understand the meaning of other things.
He really lost me there because the meaning of both are easily found and understood and only a liberal upbringing could possible twist them into meaning what he thinks.
Besides for someone that “researched” it, he failed to note, as a lawyer may, that they really are not being denied any rights that everyone else has.
RagTag on November 17, 2009 at 6:09 PM
Kevin Jennings must be his mentor.
txag92 on November 17, 2009 at 6:09 PM
A big enough following of self-lobotomized robots got a Marxist-loving Chicago skunk elected POTUS. Why can’t it work again for a quitter snowbilly?
Dark-Star on November 17, 2009 at 6:09 PM
He’s “grown up with a lot of friends who are gay?”
Really?
At 10?
Bulls&%t
Gregor on November 17, 2009 at 6:09 PM
I bet Kevin Jennings has some candy for this kid.
BuzzCrutcher on November 17, 2009 at 6:09 PM
Um, well the kid and Ms. McCain are definitely on the same low intellectual level, so I guess I am. I don’t think Ms. McCain would ever go after AP because she’d feel guilty in the morning for sleeping with someone smarter then her.
Spirit of 1776 on November 17, 2009 at 6:09 PM
This kid realizes what a civil union is, correct?
baxtrice on November 17, 2009 at 6:09 PM
Sooooooo, a ten year old kid’s opinion makes the news? He refuses to say the pledge. I could really care less. He’s simply reflecting his dad’s opinion and I don’t care for his dad much, either!!
Isn’t this child abuse? Think about it.
GoldenEagle4444 on November 17, 2009 at 6:09 PM
“… and to the republic …”
Obviously he has a problem with that part.
Ronnie on November 17, 2009 at 5:56 PM
I would suspect the school but… the teacher sent him to the office. Then they state the teacher that sent him to the office was a sub. He has many “friends” that are gay. How old are they? Do they drive a van filled with candy and puppys? Whatever, he has the right not to say the pledge. But…
cobrakai99 on November 17, 2009 at 6:10 PM
Yeah but you would be hard pressed to find any liberals who would call them bigoted. The Arab Muslim are just holding true to their faith you see…something that is not allowed with Christians….or so says a liberal.
The Notorious G.O.P on November 17, 2009 at 6:10 PM
This kid’s going to get so much feminist law school tail.
BadgerHawk on November 17, 2009 at 6:10 PM

Logic not allowed, we are busy making category errors here in Secular Humanist la la land.

TheUnrepentantGeek on November 17, 2009 at 6:10 PM
Nah it was a “that’s so Raven” theme – or it could have gone Hannah Montana & the next one would be “blog responder, say what?”
batterup on November 17, 2009 at 6:10 PM
Yeah, I have to question how many ten-year-olds know they’re gay or straight. Sounds like a line fed to him by the parents or someone else.
amerpundit on November 17, 2009 at 6:10 PM
Kid looks pretty wound up…not a happy ten year old.
muggedbyreality on November 17, 2009 at 6:10 PM
Who cares what this kid thinks, does or says. As far as I’m concerned he can also stop taking baths and eating.
rplat on November 17, 2009 at 6:11 PM
I wouldn’t wish that on Allah!
upinak on November 17, 2009 at 6:11 PM
This kid is sooo getting beat up on the playground.
tcn on November 17, 2009 at 6:11 PM
Kids should not be put on national TV to further their moonbat parent’s political agenda.
They should just pretend to be blown away in homemade baloons like normal kids.
Oh never mind.
DrW on November 17, 2009 at 6:11 PM
The Village People suck.

Ugh! This poor kid.
Hopefully, he’ll grow out of his liberal indoctrination before his mid 20′s.
Gob on November 17, 2009 at 6:12 PM
Probably don’t teach that subject until next year……
BigWyo on November 17, 2009 at 6:12 PM
For all the things in life a 10 year old should be interested in it just doesn’t add up for him to be obsessed with gay marriage. Polluting this kids mind is child abuse no matter where it came from.
fourdeucer on November 17, 2009 at 6:12 PM
One day Allah, this kid is on your side. Great post again. You found this on one of your gay pride sites?
WoosterOh on November 17, 2009 at 6:12 PM
So the kid does not want to say the Pledge of Allegiance. His teacher probably was out of line. He apologized for his disrespect even though she may have deserved it. Big deal. Story over. Perhaps some day he will understand what marriage is.
duggersd on November 17, 2009 at 6:13 PM
Someones been watching a little too much MTV.
faol on November 17, 2009 at 6:13 PM
Whatever happened to the days of a teacher saying “Okay, Will, I respect your decision. Give me five hundred words explaining your position by the end of the week. Next week, I’ll take a five hundred word essay describing the opposing view, that is why you should pledge allegiance to your countrymen despite the societal inequities you perceive”?
Doorgunner on November 17, 2009 at 6:13 PM
Sorry, but to say the parents are not behind this is naive. They called the news to report this…
Smells like Balloon Boy, part 2.
Enoxo on November 17, 2009 at 6:14 PM
Well,
Anyone who refuses to pledge allegiance to the flag and to the Republic ought to be tossed on their keester across the nearest border. If you won’t support the Republic, then you should have every frikkin’ Constitutional right stripped away. No vote, no public school, no Bill of Rights protection, nada. Zip. Nothing.
Take his 10-year old collectivist butt, and all those who support him, and toss them over to Canada or Mexico with a “do not return” logo tattooed to their foreheads.
If you can’t pledge to support the Republic, then you are of absolutely no use to the good citizens who are. You cannot ever be trusted, and will forever be a crapweasely crapweasel Shut your damned mouth and start packing. The bus will be at your door shortly. Hopefully. :)
AW1 Tim on November 17, 2009 at 6:14 PM
That does seem a little hinky.
capitalist piglet on November 17, 2009 at 6:15 PM
Every adult in the United States – straight, gay, and other – has the exact same right: To marry another adult of the opposite sex.
Just because there is an inequality of desire for that right does not mean there is an inequality of any actual right.
—
I’d also like to know what “racism” and “sexism” this kid’s talking about. That would have been interesting to hear.
—
Sorry to be harsh, but that father is an idiot.
How many of our nation’s finest gave their lives for our flag?!? Did Veterans’ Day last week mean anything to this family at all?!?

DPierre on November 17, 2009 at 6:16 PM
Can I have a TV segment where I explain why I don’t give a crap about a 10 year old’s opinion?
mojo on November 17, 2009 at 6:16 PM
Don’t worry about it. A couple of weeks ago my assigned work vehicle (Ford Crown Vic) was in the shop for some extended maintenance that wasn’t done by the end of the day, so I had to borrow a Toyota Prius from the motor pool to get home.
I drop my 10 year- old daughter off at school on my way in to work every morning and she was mortified that some of her friends would see her father driving a Prius. She said that if anybody asked, she was going to tell them that the Prius was her mother’s car. When I pointed out that her mom picks her up from school and that her friends know that her mom has a minivan, she said that she would tell them that her mom’s car was the one being worked on and that the garage had loaned my wife the Prius and that I had just borrowed it from her. (I know. What a tangled web we weave, etc.)
When I asked her why she was so worried that people would think it was my car, she replied “Because it (the Prius)is kind of gay.”
I’m sure that many more ten year olds are like my kid and think that “gay” is a pejorative term than get uptight over gay marriage.
Dukeboy01 on November 17, 2009 at 6:16 PM
Better yet, what happened to the days of a teacher saying something like “You’re too young to have made that opinion for yourself and are just parroting your parents. Now either pledge allegiance to your homeland or come up and write ‘I am a potential traitor’ on the blackboard in front of the class’, young man!”
Dark-Star on November 17, 2009 at 6:16 PM
Exactly. By watching MTV you would think that the gay population in this country is around 40% rather than the 4% it is.
The Notorious G.O.P on November 17, 2009 at 6:16 PM
Thank God he didn’t say he was against gay marriage … an army of rabid gay marriage supporters would have shown up at his home and school. Death threats and pressuring his father’s boss to fire him would follow.

I have some suspicions we are not being told the whole story. Is his Dad married? To a man or a woman? Or at all?
Check out 5:17 of the video. My radar went off.
The kids is smart but what does racism in the world have to do with anything?
Gays can marry a woman just like I can.
