Video: San Diego TV station says Porkulus created … one job
posted at 3:35 pm on November 16, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
The continuing exposure of Porkulus Job Fables goes to San Diego, which used a Barbara Boxer appearance hailing job creation in the area. KUSI-TV reports that they can only find one job created by stimulus dollars in the area. In fact, they expose Boxer’s dishonest representation of NIH grant money for research as “stimulus” funds, and marvel at the poor performance of Boxer in office (via Brian Faughnan):
“Her self-importance will likely be [an issue] in her re-election campaign.”
You think? One can only hope that Californians will be embarrassed by her ignorance of military etiquette and her self-absorption. If nothing else, though, the utter failure of Porkulus to slow joblessless in California and Boxer’s shameless flacking for it should allow the eventual Republican nominee to gain ground in a tough election.

I hope they have body guards.

Boxer’s inflated opinion of herself would be a perfect match for Obama’s. He should have chosen her as VP.
jwolf on November 16, 2009 at 3:43 PM
The same way Dems in general win elections.
A combination of utterly ignorant constituents and voter fraud.
Midas on November 16, 2009 at 3:45 PM
They say that she likely STILL WIN even though she and the Democrats suck and lie.
Sultry Beauty on November 16, 2009 at 3:45 PM
lol. They highlight Fiorina with a shaved head then say Boxer has no real opposition. nice.
NickelAndDime on November 16, 2009 at 3:45 PM
Why are most Californians stupid. Oh… That’s right. I forgot. Most are registered Democrats.
Sultry Beauty on November 16, 2009 at 3:46 PM
Babs is a complete ignoramus. I’m glad I don’t live in California.
OhioCoastie on November 16, 2009 at 3:46 PM
Her constituents are all liberal idiots filled with the same hate for God and country that fills her. She’s in office until she dies, like Kennedy. And like dear Barney the Clown here in MA.

Support Fiona and throw out this hack!
rightistliberal on November 16, 2009 at 3:47 PM
Ditto.
But, really, seeing that from even a local station in Cali is a bit surprising. National media won’t touch it but local media can’t help but admit that the clothes have no emperor.

What’s with Fiorina’s buzz cut? Is she/was she in the midst of cancer treatment?
That’s a serious question, by the way.

sammypants on November 16, 2009 at 3:56 PM
So much for her political career.
I’m not saying that to be mean, it’s just reality that voters are fickle. Especially in the heavily Democratic PsychoBabs district of CA.
They won’t elect someone with health issues, real or perceived. Remember the “McCain is too old to be president” meme?
UltimateBob on November 16, 2009 at 3:56 PM
Didn’t know about the cancer, and I try to keep up on this stuff. Fiorina is a definite step up from Boxer, but that’s as far as I would want to see her rise, politically. She isn’t my idea of a Reagan/Palin/Bachman conservative.
pugwriter on November 16, 2009 at 3:57 PM
Hmmm, are you sure it was that many?

Trying to find a job created by the stimulus is like blind man looking for a black cat in a dark room that isn’t there.
MaiDee on November 16, 2009 at 3:57 PM
You don’t know many Californians, do you?
OscarSchneegans on November 16, 2009 at 3:57 PM
Peloser and Boxer must make their supporters proud to be Californians. With elected officials like this moronic duo, it makes it easy to understand why their state is bankrupt if their elected officials are half as intellectually dishonest.
volsense on November 16, 2009 at 3:58 PM
“Ignorance of military etiquette” and “self-absorption” are two of the defining characteristics of the brain-dead voters who continually return Boxer to office. It’s unlikely that those qualities are going to lead to her defeat.
I know, it would be nice…in a logical world, but we’re talking about California here.
Django on November 16, 2009 at 3:59 PM
Actually, I only read the “liberal idiots” part (which applies to most CA voters), and missed the “hate of God and country” part (which only applies to a small subset concentrated in the bay area). Most “liberal idiots” are the God loving kind.

You know, a real investigative reporter could probably make a career out of discovering where all this stimulus money has gone.
rbj on November 16, 2009 at 4:02 PM
The lying liars lied about the stimulus again? Shocking!!! Not to worry though, the liberal/Marxist faithful are still okay with Boxer, BO…, because lying is a requirement for promoting their ideology. Frequent and blatant lying only proves their commitment to the cause and comrades. Hagelliberalsieg!

tommer74 on November 16, 2009 at 4:07 PM
What is truly refreshing to see here are the strong indications that Californians themselves are now tired of Boxer and her antics.
Sounds like she may want to brush up that private sector resume of hers. She may be needing it in less than 360 or so days from now.

There have to be several jobs. They hire people to put up signs claiming Pork projects. That has to take a few workers.

Oink on November 16, 2009 at 4:14 PM
Don’t bet on it. That “self-serving” moment with the General? The lib nitwits in Berkeley think that was her finest moment… poor little Babs standing up to the big, bad Military. Until the state collapses entirely under the weight of it’s own malfeasance, don’t expect much change.
Kalifornia Kafir on November 16, 2009 at 4:19 PM
Was there any of that UCSD stimulus money spent to research the effects of black and white checkerboard patterns on apparent breast size? If so, we need to see those results.

Perhaps they should add an upper case “A” to that “D” for Dumb Ass party. Like when the money is all gone and nobody still is back to work, will they wake up to the realization that they possibly screwed up a little?
larvcom on November 16, 2009 at 4:21 PM
I was in two cities in Calif. a month ago and an going again tomorrow for a few days. I had time to hang out.
They were stunned out there with the state’s problems and they can’t blame President Bush or anything but their own crazy programs but the Dems are sure trying. They really loved The One and they don’t know how it all went so wrong. Ha, wait till they see how bad it can get! Notice that I used past tense about The One.
They need a leader and the media is shooting down all conservatives as fast as they appear.

On ABC Radio news this afternoon, they were discussing some of the stimulus jobs listed on the White House’s website. They have several instances of jobs listed in areas that don’t exist.

Thank goodness Chuck DeVore is running against her!
And he’s doing well in straw polls, actually beating her in one. Unfortunately there is a RINO rising in Carly Fiorina, who helped ruin Hewlett-Packard, and who the GOP will probably back instead of the awesomely awesome (IMHO) DeVore.

clorensen on November 16, 2009 at 4:42 PM
Even that isn’t a stimulus job, that’s NIH funding. There’s nothing new or unusual about that and it doesn’t appear to be stimulus related. There are thousands of research doctors out there that are being paid out of the $28 billion NIH budget. It’s what the NIH does.
So, the one job isn’t a stimulus created job. You might as well call every government employee a “saved” job because they keep writing them paychecks.
Pablo on November 16, 2009 at 4:47 PM
Research docs go from grant to grant to grant. They’re never so much employed as they are funded.

VoyskaPVO on November 16, 2009 at 4:57 PM
Yes, but it’s difficult to describe to people who don’t live here in California how deep and intense the conditioned, Pavlovian response is in California voters. The Dems have controlled everything in California for years (including the Governor’s office via RINO Arnold) yet the instantaneous response from most people when government screws up yet again is “Those damned Republicans! It’s all their fault!” I’m not kidding.
I have a couple of relatives here in Los Angeles who say they are Communists. Communists who continue to lead lives of conspicuously capitalist consumption. Seriously, it’s difficult to exaggerate the ignorance and roaring stupidity of most voters here.
Django on November 16, 2009 at 4:58 PM
I don’t know, is it just me or is the discrepency between Boxer’s 60K jobs created vs. the 1 job created as reported by KUSI sizable enough to not be considered a rounding error?
Just askin.
Archimedes on November 16, 2009 at 4:58 PM
Sorry. The report said the areas but I guess it would have to both. I tried to find a link but it’s a radio story, they just repeated it. ABC is awaiting an explanation from the White House.
Cindy Munford on November 16, 2009 at 5:03 PM
Wow! All that stimulus money and only ONE job created. Boxer should lose her job!!!

Buy Danish on November 16, 2009 at 5:34 PM
Can anyone really even credit that one job as “created” by the stimulus? My guess is that the oncologist was fully employed before this opportunity came along, so it is a wash.
By the way, ma’am has 2 serious contenders: Fiorina and Chuck DeVore.

The majority of voters in CA are too ignorant to vote against an obvious statist hack like Boxer. The state is gone, face it.

The stimulus jobs’ tally for California will net to zero when Babs is bounced out of office in 2010.
ya2daup on November 16, 2009 at 6:26 PM
Californians fall into 3 categories:
1. Illegals who will vote for the D no matter what (30%)
2. Aging hippies who will do likewise (20%)
3. Normal people who will split between Ds and Rs (50%)
Doesn’t matter what Boxer does, she will win easily. Sad but true.
