Quotes of the day

“‘I was told not to discuss Obama’s pastor of twenty years, Jeremiah ‘God Damn America’ Wright,’ Palin writes in the book. ‘I will forever question the campaign for prohibiting discussion of such associations. All the more since these telltale signs of Obama’s views, carefully concealed with centrist campaign-speak, have now been brought into light by his appointments and actions in office.’”

***
“John McCain asked former campaign staffers Friday to avoid engaging in a back-and-forth over claims made by former running mate Sarah Palin in her new book, CNN has confirmed.

“On a conference call with senior campaign advisers, the former Republican presidential candidate asked them to hold back from responding – telling them, in effect, that ‘this too shall pass,’ according to sources familiar with the call.”

***
“Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who spoke to The Hill Monday evening, denied Sarah Palin’s allegation that his campaign stuck her with a $50,000 legal bill to pay for the cost of vetting her as a potential vice presidential candidate…

“‘That was addressed by Trevor Potter,’ said McCain, ‘That was over the troopergate.’…

“McCain told The Hill that he nevertheless enjoyed Palin’s book.

“‘I hope she sells lots of them,’ he said.”

***
“‘This time, there wasn’t a family vote,’ Palin told Winfrey. ‘Other steps in my political life, I’ve polled the kids, and I have abided by some of the results of the polls that the kids have partaken in. This time, no.’

“But in September of 2008, Palin told an entirely different story to Fox News’ Sean Hannity.”

There wasn’t a family vote. She asked her girls, not her whole family. And as far as John McCain goes, I say to him:
My Friend, I want my vote back.

I’ve gotta tell ‘ya: I’m glad Sarah Palin means nothin’ to nobody.

According to them there news stories and polls and such, the left hates her, the right hates her, and she’s just a big…well, nothin’.

Although, you could’a fooled me.

Palin/Bachman 2012. Palin/Coulter 2012. Palin/Cheney 2012.
Do it to the left before they can claim it, and then watch their heads explode.

John McCain has political incompetence in spades. He lost because he values his own rules more than victory. It says quite a bit about the man. Honor to the point of absurdity = vanity.

Imagine if Palin’s pastor was a antisemitic hateful racist who she knew for 20 years. This would be the same pastor who baptized Palin’s younger daughter and married Todd and Sarah 20 years ago. The same pastor who Palin titled her book after..

Now, Do you think Palin would have any political future whatsoever if this were the case?

PS: It just bugs me that they would’ve hammered the heck out of out our party if our vp nm presidential or our presidential nominee had found themselves in this same predicament. It would’ve probably cost us the election pretty much.

The mention of Jindal’s response to the SOTU address got me thinking….. what kind of message would it send if the Repubs suddenly found their missing brains and asked Sarah to do the response for the 2010 SOTU address? Great kick-off to an election year? Shows that the Repubs are willing to put their money where their mouths are? Ruffle some feathers, show some guts?

Because I think that if they put anyone LESS conservative than Sarah up there (and to be fair, there are other conservatives who could fill the roll), there will be no end to the ongoing rebellion of conservatives against the GOP, and Mike Steele and his buddies will have wasted the perfect opportunity to take back Congress with a vengeance.

It’s an insignificant speech in the grand scheme of things, but it’s something I’d be willing to push with a letter campaign. Anyone?

Sharr on November 16, 2009 at 11:10 PM

OT, Sara’s still fightin….

The choice of photo for the cover of this week’s Newsweek is unfortunate. When it comes to Sarah Palin, this “news” magazine has relished focusing on the irrelevant rather than the relevant. The Runner’s World magazine one-page profile for which this photo was taken was all about health and fitness – a subject to which I am devoted and which is critically important to this nation. The out-of-context Newsweek approach is sexist and oh-so-expected by now. If anyone can learn anything from it: it shows why you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, gender, or color of skin. The media will do anything to draw attention – even if out of context.

The political left has been so successful poisoning the well that any mention of communist infiltration, or Marxist sympathizers gets you immediately labeled a kook.

Before the fact no one would have believed the charge. Even after the fact, with the evidence we now see quite plainly, too many people are still in denial.

Our only hope now is Obama will leave office peacefully if voted out, presuming we can get an honest election, and people will face the truth and vote him out.

I am so tired of the failed McCain campaign staff. They, after some terrible strategy and advice, continue one year on to try to blame the loss of Palin. See:

-decision to suspend the campaign and return to Washington in the midst of burgeoning economic crisis to do……..nothing.

-decision to rein Palin in instead of letter her “do her thing” that had generated so much attention

-decision not to go after Obama’s history and background…which were damning.

-decision not to go after Obama in debates…….want to be civil and all

Et Al….

Yep, listening to McCain and Campaign staff is a real winning strategy for the future.

Now that you’ve exposed Palin for the liar that she is (How dare she tell us she asked her kids for input about running for VP when she really didn’t!!),I feel so much better about ObamaCare, the deficit, unemployment, Afghanistan, terrorism, and our President bowing to the emperor of Bora Bora.

Erich66 on November 16, 2009 at 11:21 PM

Is this what CBS is b*tch about. Geez It was a secret and Todd told the kids when they were in the air to Dayton or something like that. Todd even took the kids cell phones. I don’t thinks Sarah had time to ask the whole family at the time because she was in AZ with John. If CBS did some research they might get the whole story.

Didn’t vote for him; I voted for her.

HAnthonyWayne on November 16, 2009 at 10:49 PM

I’m in this category also… Amazing how McCain threw it all away.

OT, but Biden’s escort was in a car wreck. I thought he was married.

I just got my copy of Going Rogue. Three more are due to arrive from Amazon. I will donate them to local libraries.

Governor Palin may not have contradited herself on these two occasions. She said “This time, there wasn’t a family vote,” Palin told Winfrey. “Other steps in my political life, I’ve polled the kids, and I have abided by some of the results of the polls that the kids have partaken in. This time, no.”

This statment must be viewed in the context of the whole statement, especially the latter comment, “Other steps in my political life, I’ve polled the kids, and I have abided by some of the results of the polls that the kids have partaken in.”

Mrs. Palin likely meant that on this particular occasion, that is, “This time,” regardless of the votes of the kids, she would overule them saying; in effect, I will not allow the kids’ views on this question to supersede my decision. In other words, she would not have “abided by” the kids’ votes on whether to seek the office of Vice President. In effect, she afforded the kids the opportunity to express their view in the form of a vote; but reserved for herself the right to make the final decision independent and regardless of those votes.

Is McCain going to finally start fighting! Fighting!! FIGHTING!!! like he promised?

Obama’s decision to bring “illegal enemy combatants” to NYC for civilian trials – in contravention of the treatment of such war criminals, spies, saboteurs and terrorists during all of America’s wartime history- would seem to be something McCain could put some of his much-vaunted energy into.

Instead of Trivia and Snark.

(BTW- Is that the name of his law firm?)

profitsbeard on November 16, 2009 at 11:50 PM

OT:

Beckel was swimming upstream to the point of hilarity on Hannity tonight attempting to defend the Obama/Holder decision to try KSM and his pals in lower Manhattan, USA.

Dennis Prager was a panelist alongside Bob “the boob” Beckel. That’s all you really need to know to understand the ebb and flow of the piece.

Maverick wanted to shut down Gitmo as well. So, he’d look like a bigger ass than he already does by arguing THAT point.

HornetSting on November 16, 2009 at 11:52 PM

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who spoke to The Hill Monday evening,…”

Seven Percent Solution on November 16, 2009 at 11:52 PM

Other than his military service McCain is a jerk. I voted for Sarah, not him, if she hadn’t been on the ticket I would’ve written in a candidate.

beachgirlusa on November 16, 2009 at 11:52 PM

One could almost believe that McCain deliberately threw the fight.

MB4 on November 16, 2009 at 10:44 PM

Sure seems that way. Either his staffers are stupid or they are working for the opposition. In any event a person who worked for CBS and was chummy with Couric should raise levels of suspicion into the stratosphere and should hardly be in positions of influence with the campaign. Sheeesh.

That would be like having a Jihadist in the Military dispensing psychiatic advice. O wait…

Geochelone on November 16, 2009 at 11:56 PM

Thank you to ALLAH for posting what “the others” have for talking points. The point is it’s crap. why dwell on it… they don’t and we only snark about it when thier stories don’t match. 24/7 news will catch you, but if it’s as small as the “vote with the kids” well that a cute story for saturday evening post, not a Iran has nukes and obama is sucking teet to china.

Geochelone on November 16, 2009 at 11:57 PM

Wow, they are right. I’m a huge Palin fan, but this does disappoint. Gives her less credibility…..

deidre on November 16, 2009 at 10:51 PM

The only way we will really know is if they bring in Piper for routine questioning. Give her some truth serum and monitor her pupil dilation and breath response while under forensic examination. She will snap and tell us the real story. Only then can AP finally get to the bottom of this crucial issue facing our nation. /s

Geochelone on November 17, 2009 at 12:11 AM

It’s an insignificant speech in the grand scheme of things, but it’s something I’d be willing to push with a letter campaign. Anyone?

former Republican presidential candidate asked them to hold back from responding – telling them, in effect, that ‘this too shall pass,’ according to sources familiar with the call.” McCain told The Hill that he nevertheless enjoyed Palin’s book.
“‘I hope she sells lots of them,’ he said.”

Thank you Sen John McCain, way to take the high road soldier!! We have the momentum, we don’t need an inter party squabble over silly things for the media to latch itself on to. We need all our energy to get these leftist socialists out of office before they do any more damage.

Dollayo on November 17, 2009 at 12:28 AM

“‘I was told not to discuss Obama’s pastor of twenty years, Jeremiah ‘God Damn America’ Wright,’ Palin writes in the book. ‘I will forever question the campaign for prohibiting discussion of such associations. All the more since these telltale signs of Obama’s views, carefully concealed with centrist campaign-speak, have now been brought into light by his appointments and actions in office.’”

This would have been a lot more relevant than the specious Bill Ayers stuff. But McCain got scared because Wright is black and he didn’t want to be called racist, which he was anyway.

Speedwagon82 on November 17, 2009 at 12:30 AM

Agreed. Remember when Jindal gave the SOTU response? He had to start by heaping praise on the “historic Obama presidency blah blah”. Same with Romney, Huckabee, and rest of the GOP.

Except Sarah. She is not afraid of taking Obama to the woodshed, and without hesitation.

Norwegian on November 16, 2009 at 10:53 PM

Cut Jindal some slack. We were still in the grips of Obamania. Anything less than kissing Barry’s feet meant we were racist. There should be no more harping about Barry’s “historicness” because he is mortal now (except on MSNBC of course).
