Video: Lou Dobbs quits CNN

posted at 8:20 pm on November 11, 2009 by Allahpundit

Verrrrry curious. His contract’s not up; he negotiated a release with management, effective … immediately. What’s going on? The cryptic money line:

Some leaders in the media, politics and business have been urging me to go beyond my role here at CNN and engage in constructive problem-solving.

Fox denies having talked to Dobbs, but he and Roger Ailes had a confab over dinner in September. Ailes’s game is straightforward: Boost Fox Business’s profile by bringing in big-name stars like Imus and John Stossel — and Dobbs. That has to be what this is about, no? Or is Dobbs thinking … bigger?

Exit quotation from an amusingly pissy TNR, shivering at the prospect of a Beck/Dobbs convergence at top-rated FNC: “By keeping Dobbs on CNN–where he had about 650,000 viewers–Klein was protecting the rest of us. Consider CNN like a quarantine for dangerously demagogic talk show hosts.”

You can bet Glenn is behind this somewhere. Remember Beck and O’Rilley were saying last week they had a big announcement, but then Glenn got sick so I guess they put it off. Something is going on.

They have been shutting Lou up for a long time now. He has been having to say “to hear my views on” whatever listen to my radio show. And they made him quit having his radio talk show hosts on. Yea Lou will be at Fox soon!

Well now I can take CNN off of my channel lineup. Lou was the ONLY reason I ever watched them any more. I don’t know how they could tank their ratings any further, but I guess they want to find out.

Dobbs will go to Fox “News” to join the “Hate Obama Brigade”. It will be interesting to see what Fox “News” will do for ratings if a Republican actually does make it to the White House.

You are exhibiting the same level of stupidity that suggests Rush can only gather an audience when a Democrat is president. Never mind that he started his national program and grew to over 600 stations while a Republican was in office.

Decider,

Your “comments” are non-sensical considering that Fox has been around and GREW IMMENSELY during the Bush administration. Your “opinion” as well as your use of “quotation marks” to make a point about Fox “News” is more than annoying. Have you seen sales for conservative books? Have you seen ratings for talk radio? Fox “News” will be fine, just like conservative books and radio because they are TRUTHFUL.

Dobbs should run against Schumer…..and after he beats Schumer, Lou uses his glaring white teeth to immobilize Schumer, while the “chattering classes” have their way with Schumer. It will not be pretty…..seniors extremists play dirty.

It is true that Fox grew under Bush but is growing exponentially under Obama… it helps that they’re the only network that tells the unvarnished truth about this administration. All the other networks feel a lot like Pravda. The Party Line Only, Comrade!

I used to not like Lou Dobbs, but his stance on amnesty changed my mind about him. Maybe he wants to run for office in 2010?

Give him one of Shep’s slots! It’s a win-win

I hope Fox will sign Lou Dobbs and then send Queer Shep to CNN in return. It will be the most one-sided trade in this history of broadcasting.

Well, O’Reilly and Beck just made their big announcement 3-4 mins. ago on TV: they’re going on some kind of speaking tour. Nothing to do with Lou Dobbs.

Not that Lou isn’t talking to FOX… but at least we know now that’s not what the big announcement was that O’Reilly had planned.
