“I never lost consciousness, and I refused to.”

***
“The national grief won’t last.

“In our time, nothing was bigger than the nearly 3,000 killed on September 11. But anyone who got involved with the development of public policy then knows that for the next seven years the battle never stopped over the details of the Patriot Act, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, then Guantanamo, then waterboarding, renditions and secret prisons and all the other issues that for some could be summed up in two words: ‘Bush-Cheney.’…

“Now everyone thinks the call was obvious. But it wasn’t so obvious before the tragedy. Not if for years you have watched a country and its political class in rancorous confusion about the enemy, the legal standing of the enemy, or the legal status and scope of the methods it wants to use to fight the enemy.

“In war, uncertainty gets you killed. It just did.”

***
“Okay, he’s a Muslim terrorist.”

I bet 80% are doctors of some sort.

AnninCA on November 12, 2009 at 12:18 AM

When I was a kid there was a Saudi prince that lived my neighborhood. His house was very popular on Halloween because he, (or his servants at any rate), handed out full sized candy bars. He may or may not have had an expensive education, but it didn’t matter because he was one of thousands of Saudi royalty that lived a privileged life funded by the Royal family. If he was a doctor I seriously doubt that he actually spent any time doctoring anybody.

Excellent article on that at jihadwatch.org.

Check out Islam 101 and read the section on abrogation. Basically means if the Koran says one thing in an early sura and the exact opposite in later ones then the later ones overrule the earlier ones.

Allah is a capricious god who changes his mind. A lot.

Well given that Orwell used the term IngSoc to mean ENGLISH SOCIALISM and elaborated its inherent evils, I say that the Libtards DON’T get it.

Geochelone on November 12, 2009 at 12:31 AM

Folks like Quinn don’t want to accept the fact that people aren’t fundamentally good and the fact that not all cultures are equal.

So if someone does something like this they must be “crazy.” It can’t just be that they’re evil. It can’t be that their culture is evil, it must be that they’re insane.

Wow! These are probably the middle-class, then, comparatively speaking.

I still was often annoyed when my son was hanging out with them. First of all, they had every toy in the book. They would buy friendships. I decided in the end to let it go. Not my value, but I guess the kids might have had trouble making friends.

But the part that annoyed me most was that the sisters and mothers waited on the boys hand and foot. I looked like some schmuck mom! LOL*

AnninCA on November 12, 2009 at 12:35 AM

Not all muslims are bad. One night, me and a bunch of my Buds ran into these diminutive Arabs in their 20s. They had some serious bank and owned a freaking strip club we found out, er, while, er well never mind.

They actually were a blast but they were like children that had received a huge allowance to go play with in America.

They were wondering if we wanted to go into business with them just for fun and what they should buy next. What a riot.

It was a middle class neighborhood, although perhaps upper middle class, but the “prince” did have waterfront property with a slip for his cigarette boat in his backyard. The point is that a lot of Muslims that live in this country receive funding from their home countries.

These kids got involved in the Muslim activism at UCLA, but it was in a sweet way, really. They were idealistic and wanted to start free health clinics in the inner city.

They trooped up to Berkley to join other activists. Well, apparently that group was quite a bit more “activist.” They were far more to the radical Islam side.

The kids got scared. They were out of their league.

Thank goodness, they all went back to UCLA and to their computer/medicine degree paths.

Muslim is not the problem. It is anti American Muslims that are the problem. Just like anti American Tim McVeigh was a problem. Only there are a lot more anti American Muslims then there are Tim McVeighs.

Mr. Joe on November 12, 2009 at 1:50 AM

We in the West always want to couch things in therapeutic terms. These Muslims are NOT CRAZY! They are acting in a coherent rational way based on the teachings of the Koran. Hasan wasn’t a crazy man. He was a Muslim who actually believed the Koran and acted out verses like those found in the 9th Sura. Even his recent trips to the strip club (7 hours!) were based on his understanding of the Koran. He thought (thinks) that his act of Jihad would greatly outweigh his sin of going to the strip club so his place in heaven was secure. Going suicidal jihad is like carte blanc to have at any sin of your choosing. After all, all will be forgiven when you kill the infidels.

All this and every Muslim has to spend his life with a knife at his throat that threatens him should he want to follow Jesus or something like that.

I really do believe that we will learn, but thousands will die before we really act. Liberals just aren’t moored in reality.

Mojave Mark on November 12, 2009 at 1:54 AM

Quinn is exactly wrong. Everyone tries to complicate a very simple thing. Hasan was a terrorist. That’s not complicated. Stop the stupid psycho-distract tricks. I’m not buying it and most others aren’t either.

Hasn’t any of these talking heads ever learn the Duck Test?
If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck and quacks like a duck, odds are it’s a duck.

The Major gave lectures as to why Jihad is a good idea.

The Major had some 20 E-mails with a known AQ terrorist recruiter Anwar al Awlaki.

The Major handed out business cards that claim he is a soldier of Allah,

The Major yelled “Allahu Akbar” the Jihads battle cry as he slaughtered our troops.

These 4 clues make me think the Major just might be a Jihadist.

DSchoen on November 12, 2009 at 4:12 AM

I’d assume the military and the justice department consulted the definition when they decided not to try it as terrorism.
ernesto on November 11, 2009 at 11:12 PM

Okay lets go through your list!

The United States has defined terrorism under the Federal criminal code. 18 U.S.C. §2331[25] defines terrorism as:
…”activities that involve violent… or life-threatening acts…”

Check! Murdering 13 people and wounding many more qualifies as

“activities that involve violent… or life-threatening act”

“that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State and…”

Check! I think you will find Murdering people in the USA is illegal.

appear to be intended

to intimidate or coerce a civilian population;

(to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping….”

I would say Murdering 13 people and wounding many more qualifies as something to
“to affect the conduct of a government”

DSchoen on November 12, 2009 at 4:39 AM

I think that they were caught up with him being a psychiatrist. It simply didn’t add up that a psychiatrist really would go postal or that his radicalism was NOT just intellectual talk.

DSchoen on November 12, 2009 at 4:52 AM

You know what absolutely astounds little ole me? That so much time and effort is being expended discussing whether or not Hasan’s act was “Terrorism” in some sort of abstract.

Geeze, people. How do you think it felt to be in a room with no escape, with that Jihadist Hasan blocking the door, the only means of escape, armed with two weapons, one a tactical semi-automatic with a 28 round clip, shooting at will, killing your friends before your eyes, screaming “Allah whatever!”, and you are unarmed.

Terrified? Damn straight. Get real morons.

SEN Webb:
The incident at Fort Hood is terrorism and treason by an officer and physician sworn to protect and defend the Constitution as well as the lives entrusted to his care—he has violated both. The raters and senior raters of MAJ Hasan should be interviewed by Congress and asked as to why the radical, extremist and anti-American positions of this man were not acted upon. This man was responsible for the care of our soldiers and the AMEDD psychiatrists who both trained and rated this officer indicated that they would not want to deploy with him, but were comfortable enough to allow him to medicate and treat Army soldiers? It appears that Army psychiatrists will trust Hasan with someone else’s soldier but not with their own skin.

Where are his Officer Evaluation Reports? Where are his Academic Evaluation Reports? Where are the sworn statements from every person who attended the briefing he gave that clearly warned AMEDD personnel that Muslim soldiers ought to be released from service or “adverse events” would occur? Where are the Criminal Investigative Division statements on this individual? Where are the patient complaints and the corrective actions taken by his rater/senior rater and by the Walter Reed commander? Where are the patients who were treated by this physician? Where are the courses he took during OBC at FSHTX that clearly state that radical views in the Army are not tolerated?

Where are the hearings that should be conducted in Congress with officers in the rank of LTC and above who openly questioned his mental health and either did nothing about it, or shuffled him off to Ft Hood where they, “hoped he had more supervision.” There is no more supervision in the AMEDD than that which exists at WRAMC.

The biggest problem for this corrupt and morally bankrupt administration is the fact that none of the usual profiles fit (deranged Iraqi war vet, right-wing extremist, mentally unstable substance abuser). Instead we have a Muslim-American who benefited from society, was in a position of trust as both a medical professional and Army officer, and superficially had no reason to become a Jihadist. After the left has invested so heavily in lecturing to us that Muslim-Americans are all peaceful and good citizens, to have somebody like Hasan is embarrassingly close to stereotype for an administration which claims the stereotypes are wrong.

Fact of the matter is that Hasan was on the radar for a year and the filthy lying coward’s administration ignored the obvious for reasons of political correctness. 13/14 people were killed as a result.

There was an office in the WH basement under Gorelick that was the nexus for national intelligence during Clinton’s term. The FBI reported some nonsense about foreign students taking flight training. You may be closer to the truth than you realize. It is the HHS under Sebelius that will administer your healthcare reform personally.

Blacksmith8 on November 12, 2009 at 8:28 AM

Mr. Henninger, WSJ:

The most-heard reason for the possible failure is political correctness. No doubt. But Sen. Lieberman’s committee should avoid making this its main line of inquiry, because that is a problem without a policy fix. It minimizes the real problem.

The problem is confusion. The combatants at each end of the spectrum in the war over the war on terror know exactly what they think about surveilling suspected terrorists. But if you are an intel officer or FBI agent tasked with providing the protection, what are you supposed to make of all this bitter public argument? What you make of it is that when you get a judgment call, like Maj. Hasan, you hesitate. You blink.

What is the “Obama Doctrine”? The PC Diversity Policy: divide and conquer. And what results from PC and it’s promotion of “diversity” that divides one nation into many factions (to destroy the amalgam “E pluribus unum” with equality under the supreme law of the land that is the US Constitution)? CONFUSION.

PC begets Confusion.
Confusion begets Self Destruction.

The Marxist Obama Administration protocol is to enforce Self Destructive Behavior (SDB) upon each American and upon the entire American nation. We see what Obama has done and IS DOING TO ENHANCE the destruction of our nation’s military.

Retain records that Obama’s administration is destroying.
Dismantle the Department of Homeland Security

Michelle Malkin never met a tragedy that she couldn’t bend into an anti-liberal rant. The fact that Muslims are involved is like putting ice cream on top. Prosecute Eric Holder for corruption. Eric Holder is unfit and has multiple conflicts of interests and has issued corrupt official orders that prevent him from honorably discharging the duties of the office, US Attorney General, and worse, prevents anyone within the Dept. of Justice from officiating their duties honorably.

Take PC to the Supreme Court. Put our Justices on the line.

Victims of Hasan’s terrorism are NOT limited to those he shot at Ft. Hood.

First, the surviving Ft. Hood victims have legal standing to charge Hasan with torture. As US Citizens, and given the best Constitutional and Military defenders, they could take their torture case against Hasan to the Supreme Court if the military fails them and the nation in the solemn duty to prosecute this Muslim terrorist that the Military Establishment themselves promoted and enabled, carte blanche, to terrorize our soldiers at home.

Next, Hasan tortured and victimized our military members whom he was charged with the responsibility to aid their healing process from the terrific mental stress of their battle fatigue. While they were his patients, stateside under his medical psychiatric care, he intentionally inflicted guilt trips on them in their ill condition, knowing that he was compounding their stress rather than alleviating their stress. He tortured our ill soldiers in his care.

Finally, every member of the military now knows that they are targets of terrorists at home, not simply from liberal terrorists from the general populace of US residents (legal or not), but more specifically from Jihad Muslim terrorists within the military itself. And their Commander in Chief wants them dead or impotent, out of the way for Marxism to trump the US Constitution, and for the US to submit to global governance.

President Obama may not sweep America under his Marxist PC Rug O’ Thugs. Nor can he feign to be Aladdin on a magic Muslim Black Liberation Theology carpet, flitting hither and thither while dithering against our troops and conspiring against our Constitution.

After 9/11/01, the Left howled incessantly regarding federal national intelligence tagging international calls to/from known Islamic terrorists.

Chris Matthews, eat your own nose. Yes, it is a fact that YOU helped to make so widely known, that it is the Department of Homeland Security, FBI and CIA designated responsibility to trace American calls to/from known Islamic terrorists, to then collectively profile the American contact and PROSECUTE as a domestic enemy of the state.

How is one an enemy of the state if no crime exists?

More to the point, Matthews initiated the furtherance of the Obama PC Doctrine. It is no longer a crime to affiliate with known Islamic terrorists, nor is it a crime to be a known Islamic terrorist, even within the US Military.

Allah is a capricious god who changes his mind. A lot.

I like to think of allah as a made-up diety created in the sick mind of a murderous, child-raping extortionist who, in my concept of eternal justice, gets an extra large pineapple shoved up his a$$ by Satan every morning.

Yep. But that wasn’t MM’s point. Her goal is to use a tragedy to go beyond blaming Islam to smearing every member of this vague but menacing PC crowd which consists of anyone to the left of Glenn Beck, regardless of their actual belief or actions in this or any other manner.

The problem is most on the left would rather attack Conservatives that Islamic Terrorist….:lol

Anything MM says cuts to the core of most Libs motivations
and actions….which are usaully extremely vile these days.

Bleeds Blew…

“yep”

This is your dismissive response to Johan’s true statement that
“A muslim terrorist killed “those people”.” ??

Just a little gilr “yep” … you can’t even bring yourself to make the admission with a real affirmative. Like all your lib-ilk, I suppose you would just like us to move on now, “OK we grudgingly admit that it was a Muslim terror act..” but really means nothing in the grand sceheme, right?
you are truly vile

It’s not only a whitewash it’s a lot of A$$ covering going on after the fact.

I hope Joe Lieberman can get them All in on the carpet to testify. I hope the people involved get disciplined. There are 14 Dead people. That didn’t have to happen.

Hey, Ted C! It sounds as if you just got back an answer to your letter/e-mail. I just got one of those myself this morning. Absolutley maddening. Mine basically said to go to his website to see what he is doing. Uhhhhh, that would be a big NOTHING.
I don’t think going to charm school is going to help my replies to this POS.

“Okay, he’s a Muslim terrorist.”

Perhaps now, having, however briefly gotten religion, Sally Quinn will go out and openly ask:

Why is this officer not being charged as a terrorist? Or, with a treason offense?

The murder charges are expected to be announced Thursday afternoon.
. . . .

But, don’t hold your breath!

She would much rather spend her time trying to convince everyone that it is the military’s fault for not preventing it — regardless of how utterly hamstrung they have been over the years by the strictures of political correctness that she and like-minded others have demanded of them.

Huffpo is calling.

I would gladly be part of the shooters in this guy’s firing squad. It’s treason, no question about it.
