The concept of a six year vote for representative is a good one - if we go back to the senate being chosen by the state legislature. That gets us back to one of the basic concepts of the consitution - that the people have their representative - and the states do as well.

Lets make it happen people...

Is BleedsBlue still here? I have a question Bleeds if you are going back in history to accuse Bush of destroying the economy then I am going back a little further. the question goes back to 04. If as you say Bush is an idiot, then how come Kerry could not come up with a plan for Iraq? He was asked numerous times and neither Kerry or his supporters could answer. Do you have that answer? By the way how did bush destroy the economy?

The poll states the whole problem in the first line:

Your representative: 52% for and 29% against.

They then go on and state 34% for and 53% against for other representatives, but that is irrelevant because only the 52% of idiots who would continue to vote in their present incompetent matters.

Yes I am from CA and will see the same idiots get elected again because of this.

Ten-Penny Jenny ran a scorched earth administration. When she is term-limited out next November all she will have left to do is turn out the lights.

But she told the truth in her last election slogan: "Give me another term, because you ain't seen nothing yet". The Canadian-born governor was correct...

Which will be a small consolation once the law is on the books, but even so, why is the left so confident that passage is a net vote-gainer for them?

Because they really and truly believe everything they read in Salon: that America is desperate for Healthcare Reform and are proud of all Obama's hard work on their behalf.

why is the left so confident that passage is a net vote-gainer for them?

Because if they pass it now they know they can beat back any rescind attempts by a majority RINO party with filibusters so it stays in place. The RINO party starts to worry more about the media than who elected them and lose their base. The children who are singing Obama's praises now put the Lefties back in charge to finish the job. 12 years tops.

Obama's change he can believe in in 2010.

Vote the democrat turds out in 2010.

On the swine flu: So far in 2009, the H1N1 virus has killed 4,000, a typical flu season 25,000 people die. Never let a crisis go to waste........say, by hyping this swine flu to assist in passing gov't run healthcare?

As Obama said about his presidency: "We acted stupidly"

On TERM LIMITS:

There's a serious problem with term limits in Washington. New members of Congress, by necessity, are captive to something far worse than lobbyists... experienced capitol staffers and lifetime agency bureaucrats, who have their own powers and agendas.

Indeed, what Congress actually votes on is mostly researched and written by this elite crowd, with the help of lobbyists, for sure.

In fact, a lobbyists dream scenario would be a constant revolving door of voting members, where they could focus almost entirely on lobbying staff and bureaucrats. And, they wouldn't have to contribute as much to elections, which is a good third of their overhead.

I'd far prefer term limits on the non-elected, who do far more damage than even the worse elected member can do, coupled with an active, informed electorate who'll kick the bad ones out every cycle.

On TERM LIMITS:

There’s a serious problem with term limits in Washington. New members of Congress, by necessity, are captive to something far worse than lobbyists… experienced capitol staffers and lifetime agency bureaucrats, who have their own powers and agendas.

And, they wouldn’t have to contribute as much to elections, which is a good third of their overhead.

I’d far prefer term limits on the non-elected, who do far more damage than even the worse elected member can do, coupled with an active, informed electorate who’ll kick the bad ones out every cycle.

Rush made a great point today; if the health care bill is so awesome and the key to re-election, why not wait and pass it right before the elections next fall?

His other point was even better- that Clinton was on the hill encouraging Democrats to become Kamikaze’s for the good of the party.

He made a third great point. The man is on a roll. Reporter from his hometown paper was told at his doc's office only 3 H1N1 shots available. Could not give it to him despite being in the over 65 high risk group. Must Call County Health Dept. They said no,......only children and those pregnant. Observation: Kathleen Sebelius directs distribution, "rationing" and this amounts to "death panel" bureaucratic decisions of a botched program already. So what if you are over 65 and get it? Too bad.... Imagine calling your County Health Dept, then HHS on anything....

Quit with all the parsing and trying to read the tea leaves on the Democratic push to pass OBamaCare. All the liberal headfakes about handwringing are simply to lull us into complacency and that it is doomed.

Not. It will get passed. Nelson's statement said "strong public option", an intentional qualifier.......he will easily be bought off to support a "weak" one, and Lieberman will simply get the insurance industry in his state paid off and he will be on board. Trust me, it is a done deal. Snowe will be a cupcake.

It is about 'spreading the wealth' and control. They will do anything being this close. Polls be damned. Soros is going after the ones in the house that voted against it.
