Carrie Prejean: I’ve been Palinized

posted at 8:33 pm on November 10, 2009 by Allahpundit

Via Greg Hengler, the key bit runs from around 3:15 to 4:30. Cynics might regard the Sarahcuda name-check in the book as a mercenary attempt to capitalize on her rock-star popularity among social cons (good thing I’m not a cynic!) but Prejean’s point is well taken, especially the comparison between Olbermann and Hannity. Don’t think so? Watch this golden oldie and try to imagine the reaction among the lords of outrage on the left had it involved Hannity and, say, Dennis Miller goofing on some lefty pageant contestant who’d spoken in favor of gay marriage. QED. And that’s not the only time the modern-day Murrow’s devoted bizarrely long stretches of his show to dumping on her.

As for the “sex tape,” which she also discussed with Hannity last night, I don’t think hypocrisy is the problem. There’s nothing hypocritical about a Christian sinning; the whole point of the faith is that people will inevitably sin, which is why redemption is needed. The problem, rather, is that it raises the possibility that she doesn’t take her faith all that seriously to begin with. I’ll be curious to see how well the book sells now, knowing who the target audience is.

There is no hypocrisy in any Christian defending Prejean. In fact, there is hypocrisy in not forgiving and judging her.

Convenient though. You types slam Mark Sanford then conveniently whitewash John Edwards planning to marry before his cancer-strick wife has even died, moving his mistress into the home his wife still inhabits.

Liberal logic:

When a liberal releases a sex tape it is something to celebrate.

When a Conservative does it, it is morally wrong!

When a Liberal has an affair, it is a private matter that has no bearing on the individual.

When a Conservative does it, it is a grevious break of the public trust and an indictment of the individual’s ability! Said person needs to be indicted and impeached!

Liberalism is like Rabies, it is more humane to end the lives of the infected.

Yea man….those crazy stupid Christians are nothing but a bunch of homophobes that get all Wee Weed Up against gay marriage.

Just a bunch of bible thumping Neanderthals like Obama who is against Gay Marriage right simple boy:

HOPEFULS DIFFER AS THEY DEBATE GAY MARRIAGE

Several gay friends and wealthy gay donors to Senator Barack Obama have asked him over the years why, as a matter of logic and fairness, he opposes same-sex marriage even though he has condemned old miscegenation laws that would have barred his black father from marrying his white mother

.

The difference, Mr. Obama has told them, is religion.

As a Christian — he is a member of the United Church of Christ — Mr. Obama believes that marriage is a sacred union, a blessing from God, and one that is intended for a man and a woman exclusively, according to these supporters and Obama campaign advisers.

Holy crazy religious zealot Batman…Simon boy needs to get his Move on and code pink friends on this right away.

Obama invokes Jesus more than Bush
By: Eamon Javers
June 9, 2009 04:09 AM EST

At the University of Notre Dame on May 17, Obama talked about the good works he’d seen done by Christian community groups in Chicago. “I found myself drawn — not just to work with the church but to be in the church,” Obama said. “It was through this service that I was brought to Christ.”

Still, it is ironic that Obama, who rode a wave of young, Internet-savvy and more secular voters to the White House, would more freely invoke the name of Jesus Christ than did Bush.

All my GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!! run for the hills before the crazy Christian in the White House turns America into a theocracy.

President Barack Obama says he’s gone from praying nightly before going to bed to praying all the time because he has a “lot of stuff” on his plate and needs “guidance all the time.”

Obama made the comments in an interview to air Thursday on ABC’s “Nightline.”

Obama is seeking “Guidance” from God…..how can this be….only a stupid hypocritical, idiot, holy one would “pray to God” according to super smart simple boy.

Simple boy has committed the biggest liberal sin….he has insulted the liberal messiah……oh God how is he going to face the other coffee shop philosophers down at the Starbucks.

Jim Geraghty reports on Barack Obama’s statement on the sanctity of human life during today’s National Prayer Breakfast:

“We know there is no God who condones the killing of an innocent human being.”

You mean like killing innocent children Mr. infanticide

Oh GOOOOOOOOOOD Obama has shown himself to be a hyprocri- holy one again.

Simple boy must be peeing in his mommies under ware by now over his liberal messiah being such a crazy Christian.

Obama’s prayer

http://www.beliefnet.com/story/228/story_22894_1.html

By the way, an alert reader spotted this exchange from Barack Obama’s January interview with Beliefnet

Q:

Is it difficult in the rough and tumble of campaign politics to stick to that, to live out your faith? And can you talk about whether you have a favorite prayer or what you pray about?

Obama:

The prayer that I tell myself every night is a fairly simple one: I ask in the name of Jesus Christ that my sins are forgiven, that my family is protected and that I am an instrument of God’s will. I’m constantly trying to align myself to what I think he calls on me to do. And sometimes you hear it strongly and sometimes that voice is more muted.

(OOOOHHHH MMMMMYYYYYY GOOOODDDDDD!!!,did he say he is an instrument of God’s will?,Ruuuunnnnn from the Crusader,Run awwwwaaaayyyy!!!)

Barack Obama: The 2004 “God Factor” Interview Transcript
30 APRIL 2008
Chicago-Sun Time religion columnist Cathleen Falsani (”God Girl”)

GG:

Do you still attend Trinity?

OBAMA:

Yep. Every week. 11 oclock service.
Ever been there? Good service.
I actually wrote a book called Dreams from My Father, it’s kind of a meditation on race. There’s a whole chapter on the church in that, and my first visits to Trinity.

GG

:Do you pray often?

OBAMA:

Uh, yeah, I guess I do.
Its’ not formal, me getting on my knees. I think I have an ongoing conversation with God. I think throughout the day, I’m constantly asking myself questions about what I’m doing, why am I doing it.

Whoa…Whoa…Whoa…Whoa there.

The hyproci-holy one liberal messiah says he attended Trinity every week but somehow was not there when Rev. Wright was spewing all his anti-American racist crap.

Looks like more skeletons for simple boy to whine about.

Looks like the crazy Christian Obama also has “ongoing conversations with God”.

So not only is he the liberal messiah, he has straight up conversations with God.

This is kind of starting to make simple boy and his liberal friends bashing of Christians look pretty pathetic and stupid since the liberal hero they stay on bended knee for apparently talks to God on a regular basis.

Yea that’s a real great point you made there simple boy about these crazy Christan holy ones.

You are a real genius.

5) On which stop on her book tour will Governor Palin receive her largest reported crowd?

6) Will a bid on her in the 2012 intrade market exceed 30 at some point during her book tour? (for context, the last bid placed on her was 25.1)

Baxter Greene on November 10, 2009 at 11:34 PM

Heres another thought on this subject-who said she was a Christian when she made the tape or even took the suggestive photos? Maybe she has only recently joined the faith? She is a very pretty girl who is not terribly bright, just like most beauty queen, actress, model types. She was also just a kid. Kids do this sort of thing all the time, unfortunately. People grow up, and hopefully learn from their mistakes. Most of us get to do it without the whole world watching. I am more interested in the little douchebag who she was in love with that decided to pull a Levi and get $$$ off of a private tape she sent him. Hes the real bad guy in this story. She is just a naive ninny.

di butler on November 10, 2009 at 11:35 PM

She made a slutty tape for her boyfriend when she was a teenager, and paraded around in almost nothing in a beauty pageant. Obviously, she doesn’t live up to high Christian standards. Probably not a good idea to idolize her.

But she stuck to her guns when the pressure was on to give the politically correct answer, and she spoke the truth instead. So she had real courage of her convictions, and that is truly impressive. There are many who don’t have the same skeletons in the closet who would have folded in the same situation.

She’s human. Is it really so hard to believe that such a courageous Christian can also have been guilty of things in the past.

As a preacher said in church when I was a teenager, “God is not so much concerned with where you have been, as He is with which way you’re going.”

We really need to quit confusing forgiveness with hypocrisy.

Liam on November 11, 2009 at 1:01 AM

How can we believe liberals when they say they respect women when they support those who attack and abuse them? Clinton, Kennedy (all three) John Edwards, Roman Polanski, and a very long list of Hollywood liberal elites have been and are sexual predators who behaved in a way that would have made Republicans a pariah if not put them in jail, with Roman a possible exception (we’ll see). And the way liberals in general have treated women such as Carrie and Sarah are literally acts of hatred. There is no doubt in my mind that liberal Democrats consider women to be nothing but tools to be used for their own enjoyment.

AaronGuzman on November 11, 2009 at 1:13 AM

Being unchristian would be to watch a video of a 17 year old doing such things. It isn’t appropriate.
tomas on November 10, 2009 at 9:14 PM

Did Jesus Himself tell you that? I am willing to bet my life that Jesus cares less what she did on/with that video than people like you do.

Do you believe that masturbation is sinful? Do you believe that fantasizing while masturbating is sinful? If you answer “yes” to either of those, you need some spiritual help.

Why do I have to be subjected to this? What value does this dopey woman bring to the table?

She could never be Palinized, because she is no Palin.

Anti-gay bigotry makes Jesus proud.

The Race Card on November 11, 2009 at 2:49 AM

So if you don’t approve of redefining marriage to include men marrying men and women marrying women, you must be an anti-gay bigot?

Attitudes like that help explain why 31 states now have rejected “gay marriage.”

That, plus the fact that most people instinctively realize there’s something wrong with the idea.

But I love how you bring Jesus into it! As I recall, it was Jesus who said that in the beginning God created us male and female, and that this was why a man will leave his father and mother, and be joined to his wife, and the two will be one flesh. Then he said the famous words “what God hath therefore joined together, let not man put asunder.”

Good luck finding any reference to two guys becoming one flesh, or two women.

There Goes The Neighborhood on November 11, 2009 at 8:38 AM

This woman is no Sara Palin. It’s great that she stood up for her values at the beauty contest she did, but she’s annoying and not too bright.

Urban Infidel on November 11, 2009 at 8:45 AM

There’s nothing hypocritical about a Christian sinning; the whole point of the faith is that people will inevitably sin, which is why redemption is needed.

Possibly the most insightful comment I’ve seen from AP.

The fact of being a genuine Christian implies that one sees oneself as incapable of living right.

From a Christian point of view, most blokes get by in life just fine, and the awareness of an innate defect never comes up.

Then comes the crisis. Whatever, a DUI, the sudden death of a loved one, drug addiction, etc., and it hits you between the eyes that you have no real control over your life. That your best efforts achieve pretty paltry results.

Becoming a Christian is an act of giving up, no doubt about it. But it’s a good thing to give up the illusion that you’re in control over your life. A totally good thing. You come to feel sorry for those who cling to the illusion.

If the sad, portly folk that were spotted waddling around DC on 9/12 are any indication, the Snickers population has already been spoken for.

simplesimon on November 10, 2009 at 10:53 PM

Jon Corzine, is that you? Calling people fat seems to be a liberal failing and it works so well for you, too. Not.

This is a sad story, and truly a non story. A teenager did something dumb. Dog bites man. The real story is that any ideological departure from the PC crowd creates a giant target for the left. What’s disturbing is their fascination with sex, could it be that it’s just not all that satisfying for them. That’s the typical underlying reason for voyeurism.

Also, isn’t it interesting that Christians who forgive and don’t judge are called ‘hypocrits’ while Christians who condemn are called ‘hypocrits’? Either way….

The left is sooo tolerant.

Why is she trying so hard to hock a two-bit paperback when she has a SEX TAPE to offer? This woman needs a better agent.

Underage sex tape.
Prison time for just looking at it.

That’s what I thought, too. Try digging up Traci Lords’ early work. Carrie just made a video of her naked and alone for a boyfriend. That’s not a sex tape, but I admire her for not shrinking from the word.

The essence of Christianity is life. Homosexuality is defiant and nonproductive. If that’s what you’re into, fine, but don’t expect the Church to validate it.

All of America will have the opportunity to see ‘what’s left of him’ next month! Isn’t America great?!

99% of sex is non-reproductive, though can be productive as a way of conveying love. If churches believe that their principles require treating gay relationships as sinful, then the government shouldn’t, and wouldn’t, interfere.

dedalus on November 11, 2009 at 10:39 AM

Someday, I will use Carrie (and Bristol, et al) as lessons for what not to do to help teach my daughter. For now, I’ll just keep fighting the “Why can’t I have a cell phone? Why can’t I have a facebook? Why can’t I have a YouTube account?” battle, even if it is a great big headache. I only have to read about this nonsense, that sure as Hell can come back to haunt you in one way or another, to know I’m doing the right thing. Tough love…it’s a good thing.

I pray that Carrie comes to know how wrong she was to do some of the things she has done (as I do for my own sins), but I don’t really see her showing any sort of humility or regret. She seems to only blame the messenger, so to speak. They are only attacking me because I stood up for my beliefs….Okay, that is true, but are you horrified and ashamed of giving them the opportunity? Are you sorry for your sins…beyond that they were found out and used against you? It doesn’t seem that she thinks she has done anything wrong. And yes, intentionally promoting lust, which she has done in the extreme, as evidenced by posters on this site, is a sin, for those who don’t realize it. But I say to you, that whosoever shall look on a woman to lust after her, hath already committed adultery with her in his heart. Remember that little detail about whosoever shall lead one of these to sin…

While I am sickened at the hypocrisy of the left who attack her, she did rather set herself up. Anyone who argues that this behavior is just normal crazy kid stuff has a distorted view of what Christianity teaches and/or has been sorely desensitized by our vile modern culture. If Carrie was a Christian at all during her teen years, she knew better. At any rate, anti-Christians are of course going to jump all over her for what does seem like hypocrisy.

For whatsoever things you have spoken in darkness, shall be published in the light: and that which you have spoken in the ear in the chambers, shall be preached on the housetops.

Whatsoever you have videotaped in your room shall be published on youtube…

Because she was a teen who did something stupid. News at 11.

Darth Executor on November 10, 2009 at 10:07 PM

Making suggestive films for boyfriends is not limited to teenagers. Some unsatisfied women do such things well into their 40′s, and can inflict terrible harm on themselves and others. Give Carrie Prejean credit–at least she realized that it was a mistake by her early 20′s.

Yep. Attractive girls/women tend to fall for complete douchebags. Seen it more times than I can count.

Darth Executor on November 10, 2009 at 10:23 PM

I second that emotion! If a man is honest, loyal, and responsible, he has three strikes against him, while liars and con artists are surrounded by beautiful women. I too have seen it happen.

But then, what do women use douchebags for?

Steve Z on November 11, 2009 at 10:53 AM

Olbermann’s “bravery” is limited to making fun of teenage girls who have zero power while bowing to the Obamessiah.

Speedwagon82 on November 11, 2009 at 10:54 AM

Just for pure educational and investigative purposes, I will need to see that sex tape.

dedalus on November 11, 2009 at 10:39 AM

Pleasure alone is not enough to sustain the species, and it is not the end-all-be-all of life. Homosexuality is decadence. Period. Call it sinfulness, too. It does nothing to perpetuate life.

Everything that marriage does from the standpoint of civil unions issued by the government can be accomplished through contract law.

alliebobbitt on November 11, 2009 at 11:09 AM

They are only attacking me because I stood up for my beliefs….Okay, that is true, but are you horrified and ashamed of giving them the opportunity?

She answered a question in a beauty pageant, unless you mean that’s a sin? Carrie Prejean was commenting on the nature of her overnight celebrity.

Are you sorry for your sins…beyond that they were found out and used against you? It doesn’t seem that she thinks she has done anything wrong.

She said she did something wrong when she was young, and she lived and she learned — like we all do. She sent a tape of herself naked to a boy she thought she was in love with. That’s not even a sin.

And yes, intentionally promoting lust, which she has done in the extreme, as evidenced by posters on this site, is a sin, for those who don’t realize it.

No, it isn’t. Tell me where it says in the Bible that “promoting lust” is a sin. If the man in question acts on the sin, the burden of responsibility falls on him. That is the lesson I took from the story of the fall of man. Eve tempted Adam, but when God found them out, all Adam could say was, “She made me do it.”

Men are irresponsible idiots and untrustworthy is the moral of that story, and it is the oldest story of all time. Teenagers don’t listen, young girls are stupid and men run from responsibility.

But I say to you, that whosoever shall look on a woman to lust after her, hath already committed adultery with her in his heart. Remember that little detail about whosoever shall lead one of these to sin…

Urgent message to all women:

If you make pictures of your lady parts, some one you don’t want to see them, will.

bloggless on November 11, 2009 at 11:25 AM

The problem, rather, is that it raises the possibility that she doesn’t take her faith all that seriously to begin with.

Of course she doesn’t. Just like all the other ‘social conservative’ posers who use their religion as a mask for their prejudices and hateful fear of different people and different ideas. But then, she’s in good company here, isn’t she?

Grow Fins on November 11, 2009 at 11:32 AM

While lady parts are indeed nice to have, it is not wise to photograph them for any purpose. Imagine your dismay at finding photographs of your own lady parts in the home of Keith Olberbiteman.

bloggless on November 11, 2009 at 11:34 AM

I think young Carrie is learning. She’s a good lesson for youngsters, our sins are like charges on a credit card. Eventually, you gotta pay the bill. Singles always have to ask themselves how much 100% of them is worth.

Fair interview.

The problem, rather, is that it raises the possibility that she doesn’t take her faith all that seriously to begin with.

In other words, that you and her passed each other as you went in opposite directions down the highway?

A bunch of my college friends once posed nude for each other and they tried to push me into doing it — called me a “prude” and other interesting words for saying I wanted no part of it. They weren’t bad people, just stupid people. I doubt any of them know what happened to the negatives…

She’s a fine and fine-looking lady.

Who got involved with one more loser guy.

He is the a**hole.

She will eventually find someone decent (who would beat the crap out of a schmuck like that sleazy, betraying twerp).
