Via Greg Hengler, the key bit runs from around 3:15 to 4:30. Cynics might regard the Sarahcuda name-check in the book as a mercenary attempt to capitalize on her rock-star popularity among social cons (good thing I’m not a cynic!) but Prejean’s point is well taken, especially the comparison between Olbermann and Hannity. Don’t think so? Watch this golden oldie and try to imagine the reaction among the lords of outrage on the left had it involved Hannity and, say, Dennis Miller goofing on some lefty pageant contestant who’d spoken in favor of gay marriage. QED. And that’s not the only time the modern-day Murrow’s devoted bizarrely long stretches of his show to dumping on her.
As for the “sex tape,” which she also discussed with Hannity last night, I don’t think hypocrisy is the problem. There’s nothing hypocritical about a Christian sinning; the whole point of the faith is that people will inevitably sin, which is why redemption is needed. The problem, rather, is that it raises the possibility that she doesn’t take her faith all that seriously to begin with. I’ll be curious to see how well the book sells now, knowing who the target audience is.

Meh … she has nothing to worry from. The MSM is dead – no one’s listening to them anymore and every day they just dig their hole deeper. This week’s “steam shovel”? “Pre-Traumatic Stress Disorder” … it’s the sickness that causes Muslims to go insane even before they’re subjected to a traumatic event.

What kind of Christian does she profess herself to be?
I guess I’d say there are a lot of Christians- who really love God and Jesus- who are out there having sex and taking naked pictures of themselves.
I see a lot of sports stars and rappers thanking Jesus. We know they aren’t angels, but we don’t question their faith.
So why her?

Allahpundit, are you suggesting that Christian who sin simply do so because they don’t take their faith seriously? If so, you seem to be contradicting yourself all within your own commentary.
If that is true, how is that different than the typical lib’s opinion?
How old was Carrie when the tape was made? A teenager, correct? Not yet an adult? Not yet someone who should be able to make good choices?

I am not thrilled with this chick in any way, but in her defense she made a video of herself masturbating and sent it to a boyfriend she loved. She was a teen. They all do stupid stuff, and with sexting as it is now, guys should probably hang onto those pics. There will be plenty of famous women in the future who were also stupid teens. What Perez Hilton and the insane media did to her was atrocious. She honestly answered a question that an overwhelming majority of Americans agree with her on.
However her 15 mins. have long been over. What other “sins” does she have that we don’t know about? The social conservatives need to stop parading her around. When half-nude photos of her came out, she blamed the photographer. She says she was “forced” to get breast implants. Now a sex tape.
Her bringing up Palin to win points with the base is smart, but I’m not buying it.
I’ve had enough. There are better ambassadors of social conservatism.

I’m still not seeing the hypocrisy in her making a private sex tape that went public. In this day and age its a dumb idea but is it against her faith? Is it hypocritical to simultaneously have a) made a sex tape intended for private use and b) be against gay marriage?

But, do know that I have with all deliberateness chosen to disobey what I am morally certain are Christian principles, and more than once. If I didn’t take my faith seriously I wouldn’t even notice I did wrongly nor would I care, and I certainly would not ask for forgiveness. Maybe that’s the difference between serious and shallow faith?
