Surprise: Obama addresses Berlin on the fall of the Wall

posted at 5:43 pm on November 9, 2009 by Allahpundit

I’m giving you two versions, the unedited BBC transmission and the censored version that ran on Russian state television (which omits the passage about the Declaration of Independence but not, curiously, the one about the Iron Curtain), thus proving that the old Soviet spirit is alive and kicking. Even in a two-and-a-half minute speech about an event as epochal as the fall of the Wall, somehow he finds a way to make it about him:

“Few would have foreseen … that a united Germany would be led by a woman from Brandenburg or that their American ally would be led by a man of African descent. But human destiny is what human beings make of it,” Obama said.

Skip ahead to 4:30 or so of the Russia Today clip to watch Hillary introduce him as “someone who represents the fall of different kinds of walls.” Even here, history is a handmaiden to The One’s grandeur.

Fox News speculated earlier that Obama might have decided against attending in order to avoid annoying his new partners in peace in Moscow. Think they’re wrong? Watch the BBC clip and count the number of times The One names either “Russia” or the “Soviet Union” as the party responsible for the Wall. The closest he gets is the reference to the Iron Curtain; aside from that, all we really learn here is that there was some vague tyrant that used to oppress eastern Europe but has since receded into the mists of history. Ask the Poles and Czechs how they feel about that “recession” in the wake of our new missile defense arrangement.

Be sure to count the number of references to Reagan and Thatcher too.

So far in this thread I have learned FDR won WW2, the Russians won WW2 and the Berlin wall coming down somehow involved Obama.

Sad, really. But somewhat fun to watch…kinda like the last 15 minutes of “Mr. Holland’s Opus”.

Actually, it was the Russians. But feel free to bask in your version of history if it makes you feel better.

Now, this, ladies and gents, is liberal revisionism, per the (indoctrination) books. Tell this to all the moms who lost one, two, and more sons in the war. You have no decency.

Yes, the Russians too…but by themselves? No need to answer.

WWII was nothing more than a ruse in order to test atomic weapons in a real-world scenario. Hitler was in on it, and his purpose was to draw in the Japanese (as the target) and provide a political cover story to justify the bombs. That whole Holocaust thing is just a ruse; never happened.

Just ask the Muslims. They’ll tell ya straight.

Military Industrial Complex. Lenin had it right.

(you have no idea how hard it is to write that stuff, even as sarcasm)

At least he didn’t say “Ich bin ein schwarzer Berliner” – I’m a black doughnut.

Obama returns to his birthplace. That’s right, Obama was born on 9/11 at the Berlin Wall under a magical light of Ramadan while dancing on the moon.

Lourdes on November 9, 2009 at 7:49 PM

Now, this, ladies and gents, is liberal revisionism, per the (indoctrination) books.

Richard Overy, professor of contemporary history at King’s College London, notes that after the war, Hitler’s foreign minister Joachim von Ribbentrop listed three main reasons for Germany’s defeat:

* Unexpectedly stubborn resistance from the Soviet Union
* The large-scale supply of arms and equipment from the US to the Soviet Union, under the lend-lease agreement
* The success of the Western Allies in the struggle for air supremacy.

This 20 year anniversary of the wall coming down, just pales in comparison. For on that same day, Obama was probably smoking a doobie, or snorting some coke, and realized his destiny was to screw the U.S. with his high morals.

I’m waiting now for his birth to supercede the birth of Christ, and we dump Christmas, for Obamamas!

…So Obama’s Mythology continues, to add to the Mythology that he supports Capitalism, was serious when he took his Oath of Office with a Bible sworn to uphold and protect the Constitution, that he’s stopped smoking, that he’s in good health, that he is smarter than just about everyone else, that he got into Columbia and Harvard because he’s such a great student, that he actually knows what the Constitution even says…

You know, that Obama Mythology. Making it up as he goes along. Whatever works.

You have a career as a re-writer of our nations history from the liberal perspective:

Let’s see, ahhh: England won the Revolutionary War, they sent us here as released prisoners of war which explains our extreme hatred of anything decent and our love for slavery, murder, mayhem. As the lovable lug Rev. Jeremiah Wright says: “Our chick-enz…pause for effect…comin’ home…. pause for effect….ta roost”.

Then the clouds parted and Obama descended from some Chicago deep pockets and Soros funded distortions to become the supreme leader of the planet and the universe.

Or something like that.

You routinely insert ridicule about any and all questions about Barack Obama or Barry Soetoro’s Birth Certificate.

Since you again raised the issue, allow me to point out that no courtroom has ever produced PROOF of (legal, legitimate evidence that establishes) where he was actually born, nor has Barack Obama or Barry Soetoro or anyone on his behalf.

The only thing all cases attempted so far about this issue have resulted in is the denial of the discovery of such proof.

That means, there’s nothing been proven so far, there’s only been a suppression of all inquiries as to proof or even as to establishing any facts in this regard (where Barack/Barry was born, when, to whom).

P.S.: graphic files on the internet are ONLY proof of a graphic file hosted on a server that publishes to the internet; they do not establish, legally, that anything IN those graphic files represents reality other than a graphic file of whatever imagery was composed and published.

Jim Treacher on November 9, 2009 at 8:03 PM

Issue, uknowmorethanme, is as to whether or not Barack Obama or Barry Soetoro or Barry Obama is natural born, as a U.S. citizen.

Though I have read much information about whoever he actually is that suggests he forfeited U.S. citizenship by becoming an Indonesian citizen and never applied for naturalization when he later came to Hawaii, but just floated through…

Those are possibilities. As long as he refuses to provide proof of what his citizenship actually is (passports, academic records, actual Birth Certificate), the information that remains available about his travels throughout his life strongly suggest he’s violating our Constitution by forging his way into the White House on fraudulent information that he is well aware of (compounding his crimes, if so).

Real men have steely ones. Obama has ping-pong balls.

“Tear down that wall” – 4 words which changed the world for millions, and millions…only for this creep to move them back toward such travesty.

Ronald Reagan would embarrass himself and the country by asking Mikhail Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin Wall, which was going to be there for decades. So the National Security Council (NSC) staff and State Department had argued for many weeks to get Reagan’s now famous line removed from his June 12, 1987, Berlin speech.

With a fervor and relentlessness I hadn’t seen over the prior seven years even during disputes about “the ash-heap of history” or “evil empire,” they kept up the pressure until the morning Reagan spoke the line. “Is that what I think it is?” I asked White House communications director Tom Griscom about a cable NSC Adviser Frank Carlucci had been nudging at us across the table during a White House senior staff meeting at the Cipriani Hotel in Venice. (Reagan had been attending a G-8 summit there and would shortly fly to the German capital.) With a shake of his head and a smile, Mr. Griscom confirmed the last-minute plea from State to drop the key sentence.

I’d conclude you were obsessed with nothingness — the need to have nothing established, the need to demand everyone “else” make no points that require discussion unless it’s about you, the demands that everything be reduced to nothing if not acronyms like “LOL” and such — based upon witnesssing you showing up on these Hot Air posts time and time again to ridicule any and all questions about who Barry/Barack is.

Why? If you can’t stand the discussion of such, then stop participating in it. But, worse, it’s you who suggests the issue repeatedly in the first place. Others remark afterward, you get acronym-intensive afterward. Not the actions of good motives.

Do I have to re-write the whole friggin’ war? Oppenhiemer was born and raised in Wichita, KS.
Hell, do I have to show his birth certificate too?
BobMbx on November 9, 2009 at 8:16 PM

Wait a minute. Obama’s mother was born in Wichita Kansas? Is this when Oppenheimer and Obama were secretly twins, born in a time warp, separated and hidden from the evil Lord Bush in the land of Halliburton?

dthorny on November 9, 2009 at 8:27 PM

WHY did Barry Soetoro change his name to Barack Hussein Obama?

And why can’t liberals just answer questions rather than attack the questioner?

dthorny on November 9, 2009 at 8:17 PM

He CLAIMS (here’s that Obama Mythology again) that he was born as “Barack Hussein Obama” but that’s only what a graphic file of a Certificate of Birth from the state of Hawaii declares — such Certificates can be obtained by anyone from anywhere by mere filing and small fee payment after requesting your own (sourced) information appear on such a Certificate (or was possible for years in Hawaii — you showed up, filled out a form, paid a small fee, someone typed up whatever you asked them to on the form you filled out, with whatever you alleged there).

Meaning, the Certificate of Birth from Hawaii, even if it’s an actual one and not a mere graphic file from a Leftwing website later picked up by B.O. as “proof” of his “birth,”, does not PROVE HE WAS BORN THERE OR EVEN THAT WAS/IS HIS BIRTH NAME OR PARENTS.

It just means someone in Hawaii walked into the Clerk’s office and filled out the form, paid the filing fee, told the Clerk what to contain on the Certiticate, etc.

The Governor of Hawaii today says that there’s a Certificate on file there.

THAT DOES NOT MEAN THERE’S A BIRTH CERTIFICATE ON FILE THERE, it just means there’s some Certificate of Birth that was “typed up” so to speak and filed.

Even Barack Obama’s sister — born in Indonesia and not lying about it — has a similar Certificate of Birth from the State of Hawaii as does Barack Obama or Barry Soetoro or Barry Soetoro.

IF HE WAS BORN IN HAWAII as he alleges (or “believes” he was), then he’s likely got a birth name of Barrack or Barry Dunham, since his mother “wasn’t really married” to the man they claim who fathered him.

But quite likely also, the mother was in Kenya with the father when Barry/Barack was born, and the grandparents obtained that Certificate of Birth in Hawaii afterward, where they lived. Obama’s mother is documented (and witnessed) as being actively enrolled in and attending classes in Washington state something like 3 weeks after his alleged birth, for more intrigue.

crr6, you may congratulate yourself, but you’ve been toyed with all along, like a light feather that you are. Keep kidding yourself.

Schadenfreude on November 9, 2009 at 8:28 PM

I think Barry/Barack was born a Dunham and the surname of Obama was alleged and that he’s coasted through his life assuming he was a U.S. citizen and that the “natural born” requirement for the Presidency has been swept under the rug by Nancy Pelosi, who is the person responsible for “swearing” “Barack Hussein Obama” was Constitutionally eligible for the Presidency.

If he was, then they’ve never proven that he is. And I think by this point that Nancy Pelosi has been abundantly proven as both a nincompoop and a liar.

I wish he would stop dropping hints, man-up, and announce that he is a devout marxist…

And Obama’s floating continued on towards Alabama where his mother and him marched in Selma four years before the voting rights movement. See, Obama was a trend setter.
It all makes sense.

It’s always the same with those who come here to mess up threads and level discussion–name-calling, altering facts or denying them, changing the subject, etc. And stubbornly mixing the tactics, going on and on so nothing is ever accomplished. I wonder why they even come here, except to be annoying. They don’t want to change opinion, unless they think that sort of thing will work.

Wouldn’t they be happier going someplace where they’d be more among their own? Their ceaseless ploys waste everyone’s time including their own. It’s gotten so bad it’s almost impossible to enjoy an hour or so talking enjoyably with others across the country (brought you by: Your Friendly Neighborhood Liberal–pick one up today before they’re all sold out!).

Hussein Obama messed up another speech, ruining another chance to be truly called a statesman by giving a genuinely inspiring speech. Sure, he tried blowing sunshine in the Germans’ collective ear but had to add the ‘hey, look at me, too!’ mantra that’s becoming his trademark. Truly shameful…

“Few would have foreseen … that a united Germany would be led by a woman from Brandenburg or that their American ally would be led by a man of African descent. But human destiny is what human beings make of it,” Obama said. What is clear to any freedom loving person is that a women leading Germany was never “unforeseeable” nor that the US would be led by an African-American.

Maggie was a staunch partner in the effort to destroy Communism. MLK, like many others foresaw the day that a Black would lead the US, not because he was black, but because of his character. However, few ever foresaw that a 1st generation African would shuck-n-jive his way into the most powerful position in the world merely on a promise of hopey-changey.

One of the most overused word in Obambi’s vocabulary is “clear”. Obambi’s speech is just a bunch of words. Just words… with no clear sense of where we’ve been, nor where we’re headed in the eternal quest for self-determination.

“Obama notes proven method of keeping the productive class from leaving.”

Glenn Jericho on November 9, 2009 at 8:59 PM

1/ Obama is uncomfortable with the idea of American greatness

2/ Obama attaches little importance to the advancement of human rights on the world stage

3/ Obama cares little about the transatlantic alliance

4/ Obama is keen to appease Russia

The striking absence of the leader of the most powerful nation on the face of the earth from ceremonies marking the fall of the Berlin Wall is yet another damning indictment of Barack Obama’s world leadership, or lack of it. The United States is currently faced with an array of challenges as great as those confronted by Ronald Reagan in the 1980s, from the war in Afghanistan and the global fight against Islamist terrorism, to the rise of a nuclear-armed Iran.

America today badly needs Reagan’s vision of forceful US leadership if it is to remain as the world’s dominant power. Instead its position is being rapidly undermined by a foreign policy of weakness and indecision, one that will only strengthen the hand of its enemies.

Schadenfreude on November 9, 2009 at 9:04 PM

If he does this with the Berlin Wall, what will he do with the upcoming anniversary of the fall of the Soviet Union in 2011?

I can hear him now….

Uhh…The People’s Republic has fallen but is not forgotten. Those lives lost in the people’s struggle for a perfect society still live on, although in a different hemisphere. And uh…I fell down once too, but I got back up! See, with uh, some patience, we can ummm, uhhh, change!

Jim Treacher on November 9, 2009 at 7:47 PM

He had all his grades sealed when he turned 15. He then enrolled in High school claiming he was an honor studnet in middle school, with no proof that he ever attended middle school, and that he has a disablity that requires he have an assistant to do his work and assignments and tell him what his decisions should be. He later became homecoming king by declaring that students had the right to sleep in class and that if they got bad grades they could take points away from students who got high b’s and A’s.

If you’ll recall, BHO is afro-African by the way of his father and anglo-American by the way of his mother.

If and when we make reparations to descendants of American slaves, Obambi wouldn’t qualify. Obambi would be hit up to make restitution for the sins of his mother’s forefathers. Oh wait! He already did that when he threw Granny under the bus.

While people may transplant themselves and take on the admirable qualities and traditions of their adopted cultures, one cannot “adopt” the sufferings of that culture.

IOWs, Obambi has not one drop of New World slavery in him. The most charitable thing anyone can say about his forefathers is that they were able to outrun the slavers.

AH_C on November 9, 2009 at 9:29 PM

“Few would have foreseen … that a united Germany would be led by a woman from Brandenburg or that their American ally would be led by a man of African descent. But human destiny is what human beings make of it,” Obama said.

Ugh, I changed the channel as soon as this turd came on, but I was going to inquire if he made it about himself. I’m shocked!

But the Clinton comment about him was even more disgusting, especially because you know his people wrote the line. But this doesn’t do the whole comment justice:

Skip ahead to 4:30 or so of the Russia Today clip to watch Hillary introduce him as “someone who represents the fall of different kinds of walls.” Even here, history is a handmaiden to The One’s grandeur.

Here’s the full comment:

“…someone who represents the fall of different kids of walls. Walls of discrimination, of stereotype, of character. The walls that too often are inside minds and hearts. Let me introduce a message from President Barack Obama.”

This makes me sick.

Grow Fins on November 9, 2009 at 7:49 PM

yeah D-Day was totally uneccessary. We could have sat on our ass in England and just sent our planes over and let the Russians do all the dirty work on the ground.

Say it wouldn’t occur to you Von Ribbentrop might be a bit biased having been mostly occupied on the Eastern Front rather than the Western one during the War, would it?

Why don’t you go search the internet and find out where Von Ribby spent most of WWII and who he was fighting and get back to us.
