Quotes of the day
posted at 10:40 pm on November 9, 2009 by Allahpundit
“‘Women tend to have a more practical, less ideological way of approaching life and, therefore, approaching politics, and our party doesn’t always take kindly to that,’ said former Ohio Rep. Deborah Pryce, chairwoman of the House Republican Conference from 2003 to 2007…
“Scozzafava’s friend Janet Duprey, a moderate Republican who represents the adjacent state Assembly district in western New York, says the defection of party elders like George Pataki to her more conservative opponent Doug Hoffman reminded her of the GOP’s bad old days in the mid-1970s.
“‘I started my career in politics in 1975. … I went through that,’ Duprey told the Albany Times-Union. ‘I had some people who felt that a woman should not enter politics, a woman should not run. … I hope that we’ve moved beyond that point. But I have to tell you, watching this go on, I’ve had some déjà vu back to 1975.’
“‘It has been very difficult to watch,’ she added. ‘You have to ask some of these men, why weren’t they there with our Republican candidate when she could have really used our help?’”
***
“On a conference call (.mp3) with reporters today, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz seems to have upped the rhetorical ante in the push to cast Republican parliamentary tactics as sexist, comparing their repeated interruptions to violence against women.
“She told reporters she wanted to ‘express and underscore my concern over essentially what amounts to the Republicans’ ‘back-of-the-hand’ treatment to women, issues that are important to women, particularly women’s health.’”
***
“Through it all, the example both Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin set is so admirable. I respect any woman who will go out there and run for office. Maybe it’s a cliché, but no matter how many differences I may have with a woman politically, there is still a sense of kinship I feel for a woman in politics…
“So yes, Sarah Palin is a woman with five children and her physical appearance is deemed ‘too beautiful for politics.’ And on the other end, Hillary Clinton is criticized for not being beautiful enough, for being ‘too tough’ in the man’s world that she resides.
“It seems to me the male-dominated media suffers from a Goldilocks Syndrome that keeps women from shattering the glass ceiling. Worse, I fear it will prevent tomorrow’s female leaders from even seeking office.”
***
“‘Today, I had a thorough and frank discussion with Assemblywoman Scozzafava,’ Kolb said in a statement. ‘As a result, Dede has tendered, and I accepted, her resignation as our Conference’s Leader Pro Tempore. Over the coming weeks, I will be assessing who will serve as our Conference’s next Leader Pro Tempore to lead our Assembly floor debate.’
“Scozzafava endorsed Owens the weekend prior to Election Day, enraging her Republican colleagues, many of which told POLITICO on Friday that she would face a cold reception when the Assembly reconvened on Monday.”

One of the the biggest problems with the Democrat party is that they reject reason and vote based on emotion. Many women vote like Democrats. Thus many women, IMO, aren’t suited for politics.
Emotion should not be tolerated when making political decisions.

As a woman, I have always found it offensive when people talk about “issues that are important to women,” as though ALL women feel the same way about everything. The unspoken issue, of course, is abortion. I can tell you that I know as many if not more pro-life women as pro-choice women, so obviously we don’t all think alike. Stop calling it a “women’s issue,” morons.

Hillary and Palin are different though. Not to mention what the Left dishes out to Michelle Malkin. That’s sexism. Curious, does Michele Bachman or Pelosi get that sort of sexist crap?

10 reasons why men or women hate or resent women politicians:
(I am not justifying that it is right but just that it exists)
1)Ex-husbands who are paying or have paid spousal support to their wives or who resent that wives having sole custody of the children.
2)Cattiness and jealousy of women to other women
3)Abortion
4)Christian misogyny and Biblical injuction against female participation in the church
5)men are uncomfortable around women politicians; men are from Mars and women are from Venus
6)a romanticized version of women in America they are more sexual or reproduction objects than intellectual giants
7)fear of men that they are being politically emasculated by a strong woman akin to losing face
8)senior citizens and traditional folks fear that a woman will not be able to hold up to job of or do the job of an officeholder or POTUS
9)Influential men love the power they possess; they are only going to give it up to women reluctantly
10)Female stereotypes and trivialization of female habits, fashion, beauty etc. by American society that men and women both tap into and believe which reinforces the idea that women politicians are not serious players or possess enough gravitas

Yep, us conservatives really hate women. That’s why we are so supportive of people like Sarah Palin, Liz Cheney, Laura Ingram, Ann Coulter, Michele Bachman. Yep, we just can’t stand having strong women around. /sarc
These liberal idiots just don’t get it — WE are the ones who are color blind and sex-neutral when it comes to politics. We conservatives look at the measure of the person’s character, at the political viewpoint of the person running and make our decisions based upon that — not whether the person’s outer characteristics check some box so that we can feel good about our “diversity”. Statists, on the other hand, look at a person’s outer appearance first, then at their ideology. If the person happens to be conservative, the statists then disparage them as not being representative of [insert victim group here].
Scuzzy — people didn’t dislike you because of your gender, they disliked your politics and positions. I guess “womens’ health issues” is code for “fully supports killing pre-born babies”

Wasserman Schultz and Pelosi sold out the ENTIRE pro-choice movement by allowing the Stupek Amendment to come to a vote.
They have taken millions from women for decades, and the first time they are called on to stand for the pro-choice principles of their female constituents(millions of them)they opt out to enable Obama and Obamacare. Obama who also threw their feminist icon Hillary under the bus for the democrat nomination.
And these women are criticizing the republican party for its treatment of one women who endorsed a democrat in a crucial election?
W
JAZ on November 9, 2009 at 11:33 PM
The reality is that if Scozzafava had been elected to the seat there is little doubt that she would have voted exactly the same way as Owens when it came the Obamacare vote on the weekend. The only difference being that her vote for it would have been used as propaganda by the Democrats and the media against the Republican party. So in the end it was probably a good thing that Scozzafava didn’t win because she would have been another Arlen Spectere as her endorsement of Owens after she dropped out of the race showed.
As for this meme coming from the media and being pushed by Democrat congress woman Debbie Whatsherface Shultz that the real reason Scozzafava got the chop was because of sexisim in the Republican party is a complete load of steaming Democrat talking point BS, probably thought up by Axelrod or Emanuel in an attempt to try and marginalise the strong Female Conservative leaders that are emerging in the GOP at the moment like Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachman. Which is also probably why they have been using Shultz to deliver the Democrat talking points on this issue.
