I would say that nobody wins the Medal of Freedom either -- they also are awarded it. After all, it's not like anyone who received these medals was in a competition with others to earn it? The President is still stuck in Copenhagen, dreaming of winning the Olympics for Chicago. Oh dear, that isn't a correct use of the term either, is it?

I was just thinking about this earlier today. It’s a particular shame, because Dr Medicine Crow served in the Army and fought in the infantry in Germany during WWII. Instead of giving a cheesy “shout-out,” Obama could have segued gracefully from his honor and bravery in the face of those horrors, to the bravery of the men and women at Fort Hood.

Not just a failure on the President’s part, but a typical lack of foresight and complex thought.

(I’ll leave the award misidentification gaffe alone. I’m sure he was just reciting what his teleprompter overlord told him to say.)
