Obamateurism of the Day

posted at 8:05 am on November 9, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

For our OOTD today, we’re going to revisit Barack Obama’s “Pet Goat” moment from last week. Obama spent two minutes giving shout-outs to his new friends at the Tribal Nations Conference instead of talking to the nation about the shooting at Fort Hood. Even apart from the breathtakingly insensitivity from Obama, he also got this wrong:

THE PRESIDENT: Please, everybody have a seat. Let me first of all just thank Ken and the entire Department of the Interior staff for organizing just an extraordinary conference. I want to thank my Cabinet members and senior administration officials who participated today. I hear that Dr. Joe Medicine Crow was around, and so I want to give a shout-out to that Congressional Medal of Honor winner. It’s good to see you. (Applause.)

Except that Dr. Joe Medicine Crow has not received the Medal of Honor. He has been awarded the Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, not the military Medal of Honor.  And Obama should know, since he was the one who presented the award to Dr. Medicine Crow. In fact, he presented the award less than three months ago (h/t HA reader Sheridan):

Also, as anyone in the military will confirm, one does not win a Medal of Honor; they receive it.  Many people make that mistake … but one should expect better from the nation’s Commander in Chief.

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

Illustrations by Chris Muir of Day by Day. Be sure to read the adventures of Sam, Zed, Damon, and Jan every day!

But, then again, your jugement is suspect. You ascribe a level of respect and competence to the filthy lying coward that is not in evidence and you give the rat bastard traitor a level or respect that is not merited no matter wha the title.

It’s not a matter of belief. The filthy lying coward has never been awarded these medals. Were Congress to authorize the Medal of Honor for the intent of joining the military and doing brave things, the filthy lying coward would care…

Bottom line, if it isn’t about Obama, Obama doesn’t really care.

I often wonder if electing the cool guy for president was a one-time phase. When the serious, stoic and not-so-cute candidates start getting attention during the next campaign, is the media going to skewer them for their appearance, make their wives out to be frumpy, and take them down for wearing suits instead of flip-flops? I can only hope the voting public will be mature enough to not fall for that again.

In Obama’s mind, winning is the only thing of importance. When he “wins” his “signature domestic priority” (which is a favorite description of the MSM) the rest of the nation will be on the receiving end of an economic disaster. And they will remember “he won” at his impeachment hearings.

Whoever credits ObaMao with the silver tongue of oratory is sadly deluded.

Allow me to cut and paste what I had posted in yesterday’s QOTD late in the thread.

Words cannot express how despicable I find ObaMao.

Bill Bennett does a great job summarizing what is woefully wrong with a president of the US who fails to appear at the celebration of the collapse of the Berlin Wall to the forces of liberty and who rationalizes the behavior of the perpetrator of the Ft. Hood atrocity.

http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=YzVmNDc4N2MxNjdkZDkxMjI0YjEyYjcxYTE3NjgwMDk

The American people have been cheated of having an honorable and worthy president in the WH. ObaMao does NOT belong on a world stage in any capacity.

The man who President Obama could not remember had received the Medal of Freedom, also received the Bronze Star and the Légion d’honneur for his service in World War II.

Joseph Medicine Crow joined the army, becoming a scout in the 103rd Infantry Division… Medicine Crow completed all four tasks required to become a war chief. He touched a living enemy soldier (1) and disarmed an enemy (2) …

He also led a successful war party (3) and stole an enemy horse (4), making a midnight raid to steal the horses from a battalion of German officers (as he rode off, he sang a traditional Crow honor song.) He is the last member of the Crow tribe to become a war chief.

Might I suggest an alternative Obamateurism via Byron York and the Washington Examiner?

Remember how the filthy lying coward told us not to jump to conclusions about the motives of Hasan?

Hasan, accused of murdering 13 and wounding 29 at Ft. Hood, Texas, last Thursday, reportedly shouted “Allahu Akbar!” before he began shooting; visited websites associated with Islamist violence; wrote Internet postings justifying Muslim suicide bombings; considered U.S. forces the enemy; opposed American involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan as wars on Islam; advocated beheading nonbelievers; and told a neighbor shortly before the shootings that he was going “to do good work for God.” Now, we learn he was trying to contact people associated with al Qaeda.

The only thing Byron York leaves out is the link to the radical Imam and the 9/11/01 hijackers that were attending the same mosque as Hasan. I ask you, when does the preponderance of the evidence allow one to conclude that Islam and/or terrorism were part of the events at Fort Hood? Is the filthy lying coward just running cover for a fellow Muslim?

The tearing down of the Berlin Wall was one of the great symbols of peace in our time. And twenty years later, for the anniversary celebration, the winner of this years peace prize can’t be bothered to join the festivities?

What a maroon. An embarrassment to this country.

2012 can’t come soon enough – we vote him out, or the world comes to an end. Either way is better than what we have now.

He DOES NOT AND NEVER WILL have our best interests at heart.

ohiobabe on November 9, 2009 at 9:24 AM

If it isn’t about himself, the filthy lying coward shows no interest. He was at Dover AFB for himself, not the fallen soldiers returning. He will be at Ft. Hood, not because he cares about the troops but because of the cameras.

What really infurates me is the number of people that are still willing to give the rat bastard traitor the benefit of the doubt and proclaim that “he really does care about the troops.” He does not. He cares about himself and his poll numbers. Nothing else and Americans need to wake up to the reality that the President is pure evil.

Major Nidal Hasan was a hero and he did the right thing. At least according to his Islamic cleric.

As far as I am concerned, anyone who voted for 0bama is a traitor and should be treated as such to the fullest extent of the law.

Wolftech on November 9, 2009 at 9:16 AM

I’d limit traitor status to anybody who is out there still defending the filthy lying coward. The reality is that the rat bastard traitor is not governing on any of the promises he made while campaigning.

That being said, a special kind of traitor are those who still insist that we give the bastard the benefit of the doubt and/or demand that we be respectful to the man. I’ll be respectful to the office but never to the pure evil that currently infests the White House.

Same here only it infuriates me that his percentage is still as high as it is.I want to see the bottom drop out of his approval ratings.I don’t care how much money he gets these stupid lib groups to donate,if I learned anything this election last week, that is if conservatives show up in full force,it doesn’t matter the money that is put into a certain candidate.

I hope you’re right but you’ve got Charlottesville and all those UVA dingbat types in the 5th. Do you really think they’ll vote him out?

I don’t see where this bastard is connected to Hasan in any way. But, we all knew that he was going to be hailed a hero by the so-called religion of peace for gunning down the infidels.

IMO, Hasan has hurt Muslim-American relations more than any time since the Iranian hostage crisis. Even the atrocities of 9/11/01 were somewhat mitigated by the circumstances of where the hijackers came from. Here we have an American-born Army officer who put radical religion ahead of being an American.
