Poll: What was the Obamateurism of the Week?
posted at 10:00 am on November 8, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
It’s time once again for the choice of Barack Obama stumbles. I’d give a shout out to my favorite this week, but what happens if it gets beaten badly by voters? Why, I’d feel like The Biggest Loser! I doubt that I could show my face anywhere but at my cousin Pookie’s, and since I don’t have a cousin Pookie, I’d be right up a creek.
Previous “winners”:
- Accusing Cheney not focusing on Af-Pak just before heading out to 3 fundraisers and a golf outing
- WH retreats on Fox News war when other broadcasters object
- Obama declares war — on liberal bloggers and Fox News
- US was on “path to recovery” before durable goods orders fell, mass layoffs rose
- Obama goes to Copenhagen (and comes home empty)
- Taxes, definitions, auto insurance, and Merriam-Webster dictionaries
- Throwing Poland under the bus on missile defense on 70th anniversary of Soviet invasion
- Obama warns of “partisan scare tactics,” warns “people will die” if ObamaCare stalls
- Obama doesn’t check to see if schools in session for his national speech
- Getting all wee-wee’d up
- The “public option” is just like the Post Office!
- We’re going to listen to other people’s ideas, except that people who disagree should shut up
- Snitch Central for ObamaCare dissenters
- Rushing legislation bad in 2004, essential in 2009
- Obama opines on Gates arrest without “having all the facts”
- Obama salutes the Ghana flag
- Obama jokes about Alaska sale with Russians
- Obama uses union and DNC plants at health-care town hall
- Obama plants a question on Iran with HuffPo
- Change in Iran coming because “Obviously, after the speech I made in Cairo…”
- Flashing his soles to the camera while talking to Netanyahu
- “If you actually took the number of Muslim Americans, we’d be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world.”
- “We can no longer afford to spend as if deficits do not matter and waste is not our problem.”
- Siccing Tim Geithner and Charlie Rangel on tax cheats
- Phony Churchill quote on torture throws Grandpa under the bus
- Torture probe flip-flop
- Obama covers up IHS while quoting Jesus
- Austrian is a language?
- Obama bows to the Saudi king
- 1908 Model T got better gas mileage than today’s SUVs

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

Shout out is more like a shut out for the mecca candidate.

“Shout out” hands down. Shameful.
4Freedom on November 8, 2009 at 10:02 AM
No doubt about it…the Village Idiot in Chief’s oratory just gets more and more inappropriate.

No contest. “Shout out.”

No contest there.
The man is not just an amateur; he is an absolute disgrace.
There. I said it.

2 minutes of “shout outs”
Congratulating the “winner” of the Congressional Medal of Honor – to a man who never received it.
(Joe Medicine Crow received the Bronze Star and the Congressional Gold Medal – a civilian award).
aquaviva on November 8, 2009 at 10:04 AM
The shout out was bizarre. But like a tree falling in the woods did any one hear it but us bears. I hate the media.
Howcome on November 8, 2009 at 10:04 AM
I voted for the shout out. After what he said about the troops last night that’s worse than this.
Brat4life on November 8, 2009 at 10:04 AM
Shout out…
ladyingray on November 8, 2009 at 10:06 AM
The shoutout, no contest. How can “the gretest orator of our time” have such a tin ear? How could his advisors have been so tone-deaf as to think those opening remarks would have been appropriate?
Whoever said it, I agree: this was Barry’s “My Pet Goat” moment.
Lurking Vet on November 8, 2009 at 10:07 AM
Shout out of course… Lame excuse for a CIC
WhoU4 on November 8, 2009 at 10:07 AM

jbh45 on November 8, 2009 at 10:07 AM
No joke. Troops fighting for freedom is patriotic. Congress voting for a ridiculous bill (even in most democrats’ minds was a horrible bill) that the majority of Americans do not want is quite the opposite of patriotic.

No trouble picking the “winner” this week.
Cindy Munford on November 8, 2009 at 10:09 AM
It took him two minutes to get to the point about the biggest terrorist attack in the US since 9/11 – he is cousin Pookie.
PatMac on November 8, 2009 at 10:10 AM
Most definitely the “shout out” following the attack at Fort Hood. He has to be one of the most tone-deaf, classless, self absorbed punks I have ever seen. He acts like the class clown making introductions in the gym before the pep rally…..or something (sorry for the lame analogy). Bottom line: He is disgusting and I am disgusted.
Proud Texan on November 8, 2009 at 10:11 AM
No arguement, the Shout Out. You know, I know a couple of Pookies and Junebugs.
Sanjoboy on November 8, 2009 at 10:12 AM
This thing is a disgrace to the american people.I said it before and will say again 99% of the americans would have known what the right thing to do was and it sad our President doesn’t. God bless the victims of Fort Hood.
Gracelynn on November 8, 2009 at 10:12 AM
The Shout Out, hands down.
I wanted to reach through my screen and strangle that coconut head. He truly despises the military and he’s not convincing at all when he pretends he does.
And then to come out hours later and tell us not to jump to any conclusions? Don’t try and tell me this president is not a Muslim. I’ll believe that the first day he acts like he isn’t.
fogw on November 8, 2009 at 10:13 AM
Great intro, Ed!
Again, please give us an “all-of-the-above” option.

Easy choice this week for sure! The fool is an unconscionable fraud. Surrounded by unconscionable frauds. Promoted by unconscionable frauds. Elected by unconscionable frauds.

Choice was too easy this week. Usually I have to think a little.
dont taze me bro on November 8, 2009 at 10:21 AM
The thing that disturbed me most about his “shout out” was the fact that he could apparantly go off script when the matter was inconsequentail, but he showed zero emotion when talking about Ft. Hood. All he could do was read his precious teleprompter like a robot.
Disgusting.
Vera on November 8, 2009 at 10:21 AM
Gen McChrystal submitted his troop request to the Obama Administration via Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates on Aug 30th. It has been under review by President Obama and his advisors since. That was 69 days ago. He knew the size of the request prior to that because “someone” leaked it to the press weeks prior.
So, how about a running weekly, “He didn’t decide on the McChrystal Request yet after X weeks, but he still had time to X.
This week for example might be, “He didn’t decide on the McChrystal Request yet after ten weeks, but he still had time to host a reality show.
The President needs to decide.

tatersalad on November 8, 2009 at 10:27 AM
Don’t hold your breath.
Anders on November 8, 2009 at 10:27 AM
The shout out was just disgraceful. To those who were up in arms over The Biggest Loser episode, chill. The show was filmed months ago. If you are unfamiliar with the show you would do well to look into it. At the end of the episode they do a “what does the eliminated contestant look like now” segment. Not exactly something even NBC could pull off if the show was filmed live, what with having Tracy go from weighing 194 pounds down to 158 in the final segment.
rmel80 on November 8, 2009 at 10:28 AM
Of course, the shout out. And his comments about our troops so he could get that monstrosity of a bill passed. (And a special “shout-out” to any congressman who voted for it because of that.)
VanPalin on November 8, 2009 at 10:29 AM
I gave a “shout out” to Pookie with my vote.
LastRick on November 8, 2009 at 10:29 AM
Definitely remarks about Fort Hood. Any politician worth his salt, let alone the President of the United States, should have had some sense of the emotional impact and if he didn’t have an emotional response to it himself, he should have had the political sense to fake one, for heaven’s sake. What a cold, unfeelingly moron.
ProfessorMiao on November 8, 2009 at 10:30 AM
I had to go with Hussein Obama’s shoutouts. His candid indifference to the 14 murders (I’m counting the unborn baby) says everything about him. You never get a second chance to make a good first impression, so Hussein Obama’s second speech is worthless; in my conviction he never spoke it at all.
Screw him and the rest of the Enemy Party. And every other lib troll who posts here.
Liam on November 8, 2009 at 10:32 AM

Cindy Munford on November 8, 2009 at 10:36 AM
No trouble choosing one this week, but look, all of the others could have been #1 in any other week. It’s just that Obama clustered some outstanding Obamateurisms all in one week. How does he do it?
DrStock on November 8, 2009 at 10:37 AM
Isn’t that exactly what Obama did? He went from all smiles to that stern, mournful look in just a second, as he started his announcement of the tragedy. Wasn’t that sad face a complete act?
Loxodonta on November 8, 2009 at 10:39 AM

decideresign.hawkdriver on November 8, 2009 at 10:25 AM
FIFY. I just couldn’t resist. The slaughter of our troops at Ft. Hood, followed by POSWH cold indifference, plus the MSM try to spin this horror (read: Islamic terror attack) from what it really is has me pissed off.

Barry is looking for a decision taster to hire.
Loxodonta on November 8, 2009 at 10:41 AM
He also mentioned Native American Indians, he should have added, “Give them the Wealth! Give them the Wealth! .. ” . As awful as Van Jones.
father on November 8, 2009 at 10:42 AM
I didn’t see “Everyday Obama wakes up” what gives?
The Admiral on November 8, 2009 at 10:44 AM
I had always thought that the point of these Obamateurisms was to note all the times Obama was acting like an amateur. In that vein, if one thinks that Obama truly dislikes the military or does not see the military as any great honor, then failing to note the gravity of the Ft. Hood situation would simply be a consistency, not an amateurism.
Talking about your cousin Pookie OTOH makes you sound like an amateur. B/c last time you talked about Pookie, she was your aunt and your cousin was Ray-Ray. I mean, c’mon, keep your stereotypical black family members straight, dude.
LastRick on November 8, 2009 at 10:44 AM
The shout out was disgraceful. The Indonesian Idiot let his mask slip again. Hey Barry – at least TRY to pretend that you care about the troops. At least ACKNOWLEDGE that this muslim jihadi loser has DISGRACED Islam with his murderous actions.
How about a little moral clarity Barry?
Which side is Barack Hasan Odumbo on anyway?

Liam on November 8, 2009 at 10:49 AM
The shout out.
1) It is at the least extremely tone deaf.
2) If, as Dear Liar’s supporters say, He is super intelligent and well spoken, then He wouldn’t be so tone deaf — indicating that The Whine really doesn’t think much of the American soldier.
rbj on November 8, 2009 at 10:52 AM
That was my point — it’s not an amateurism. It’s just his distaste for the military shown for all to see.

Shout out…..shows how concerned the President really is about our military.
yoda on November 8, 2009 at 10:57 AM
Yeah, but he’s tying an albatross around his neck. He’s already had one shot at a cool, thoughtful decision in March, and that hasn’t panned out, so now he’s having a redo. If he still doesn’t give McChrystal the numbers he’s requested and the effort sputters, his decision making process, is fair game. If they don’t change the ROEs, I don’t see how they can progress.

I despise this POSUS more than ever before. I revile his party, the MSM that covers for them, and the liberal vermin who invade our site and infest the world worse than even the Black Death.
I hope our United States remembers this next year and in 2012, so we can rid ourselves of the sh*t infesting our Nation’s capitol. And in the meantime, we find a way to crush the MSM–get Olbie and Matthews unseated from their positions if not all-out fired from their disgusting liberal network.
Then we crush the network itself so it goes the way of Air America.

Biggest loser.
Even a rank amateur, or an immature jerk, could express a deep sense of horror and sympathy however ineloquently.
What Obambi displayed re Ft Hood wasn’t ineptitude, rather a cold-blooded contempt for the people under his command. Not once at the Native American pow-wow, but every time he opened his pie-hole since on the subject.
Ed, love your work, but suggest you add a new class of polling for “Obamasnotism”, where we rank elitist acts and words along the line of Marie Antoinette’s snotty “Let them eat cake”.
