Senior White House official gloats: “We’re 2-0 against Palin” now

posted at 7:18 pm on November 4, 2009 by Allahpundit

Since Axelrod’s been all over the place today, I’m going to assume he’s Tapper’s source here. In which case, how interesting that he chose to offer this particular bon mot anonymously.

To paraphrase Limbaugh, she’s living rent-free in their heads.

When Vice President Joe Biden went to upstate New York to campaign for Democrat Bill Owens on Monday, he took a risk.

Instead of campaigning in a low-key way, emphasizing local issues and Owens’ strengths, Biden picked up the gauntlet thrown down by national Republican figures such as Sarah Palin and Gov. Tim Pawlenty, and conservative pundits such as Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh, and agreed that the special House race was of national relevance…

“We’re 2-0 against Palin,” a senior administration official says. “The Vice President went in and took on Governor Palin and the other national Republicans who had gotten involved in the race and the White House is sure happy that Owens pulled out that win.”

“Biden campaigned on Palin/Beck/Rush because ‘Dem accomplishments’ didn’t fly,” counters S.E. Cupp, drily. Help me figure something out here: The Palin-centric read on NY-23 is all over the media today, no doubt to let the left make the case that she’s political poison. But if she’s the kiss of death, whose entry into a race can be counted on to send the silent majority fleeing into the arms of the Democrats, why’d Team Barry go to such lengths themselves to try to beat Hoffman? Obama attended a fundraiser for Owens; the vice president showed up for an eleventh-hour rally in the district; and they worked every connection they could to flip Scozzafava, leaving the nominees of both major parties aligned against the conservative. That’s a lot of effort to narrowly defeat someone who’d supposedly already received the coup de grace from Palin. But don’t look for logic on this subject: NBC’s own Palin-centric spin on the race mocks Sarahcuda and other top Republicans for backing a guy who was, it’s true, a terrible retail politician — even though they came thisclose to pushing him over the top.

Here’s Fred Thompson, another true conservative who invested a lot more than Palin did in the race, putting a happy face on the outcome.

The premise that “We’re 2-0 against Palin,” is nonsense.

Obama will lose his ongoing fight against America, American Exceptionalism, the American people and the US Constitution. My fondest hope is that Republicans take the House and that impeachment charges get filed immediately afterwards.

It can’t be emphasized enough that the tea party attendees were made up of disgruntled taxpayers: Republicans, Democrats, and Independents.

Fred is correct. The Republicans should work at being a magnet. The tent will grow because the ideas of smaller government, reasonable taxation, a pro-growth economic policy, and national security are uppermost in voters’ minds. Build on the ideology and offer practical solutions; the people will come to the party that offers more than slogans and lollipops.

The ball-less non-men like ballerina Rahm Emmanuelle and that ogre Axlerod are sh!tting their pants over their epic failures last night. After getting pwnd in NJ and VA they throw the kitchen sink into NY-23 and still almost get their asses handed to them by a third-party mild-mannered accountant with no funding who just just got spooled up 30 days ago. And they had to get Barry\’s top political guy to fly into Plattburgh and beg the Republican candidate to support their guy in exchange for a couple nights stay in the Lincoln bedroom. Weak and pathetic. Last night was an epic fail for Barry and \”Plugs.\” The fact that they keep bringing up Palin just demonstrates how much they fear her. I mean, really, she\’s an ex-governor and failed VP candidate. Why are they so obsessed with her? Her absolute power over the testicularly-challenged femmes who inhabit the Democrat party today is just amazing.

Just gos to show how unstable and self-destructive the commies are…

If they didnt make it impossible for Sarah to do her job in Alaska she would not have resigned and most likely not be campaigning and blowing holes in the deviant-ship-obama.

Its truly a self made mess by them which is a result of their own insecurities.

They can take all the credit for the trouncing that is occuring.

Whats even better is that, as some have noted, is that Sarah is scoring big while using the least amount of capital which her opponents on the other hand are taking hits while expending lots of capital.

Sarah is the equivalent of a U.S. military sniper keeping a battalion hunkered down in fear.

God, I love her.

It sure is good being right because being right doesnt cost alot.

So a Republican drops out of a race at the last minute and endorses the Democrat. The one mainstream candidte left in our TWO PARTY system still just barely beats the concervative candidate that nobody had ever heard of. That is a technical victory, sure. What kind of fuzzy math do you have to employ to consider it a philosophical or moral victory in any way shape of form? It is sheer luck that the mechanics of the electoral process happened to work in your favor under strange circumstances.

It is good that the Democrats spend their time attacking Palin while the Repbulican that will get the 2012 nomination keeps under the radar of the Soros/Obama slime machine.

Palin can energize many Republicans, get national attention in her jabs at Obama and Co., bring in donations, draw out and turn the petty attacks back on the Democrats (hopefully in doing so bringing more independent votes to the Republicans). But she will not be the Republican candidate in 2012.

Palin is such poison, that Hoffman’s polls went from the mid-teens before she endorsed him, to within a hair of winning after she endorsed him.

The GOP needs more such poison.

MarkTheGreat on November 5, 2009 at 8:19 AM

Didn’t Sarah Palin support the republican candidates for governor in NJ and Virginia as well as the Attorney General and Lt Gov candidates in VA? That would make Gov Palin 4-2 against the Obama Administration.

eaglewingz08 on November 5, 2009 at 8:46 AM

You keep gloating, you duplicitous, pork-sucking scum. Just keep whistling though that graveyard. Yeah, you can hear the footsteps coming closer, can’t you. You know what’s back there even if you don’t want to look. Don’t worry, we’ll be right there. See ya soon.

SKYFOX on November 5, 2009 at 9:02 AM

It is amazing that the full weight and import of the White House press office is obsessed, I repeat, obsessed with a single Facebook entry on some no longer public employee’s webpage. Why it’s as if they thought she was the second coming of Obama or the Virgin Mary in her importance. And yet they treat her as they would the Devil if he sat down to supper with them.

I’d say the man in the White House was scared to Death of what Sarahcuda could do to him, if I truly thought he gave her a second thought. He’s too busy trying to figure out how to ruin the economy, ram government health care and job killing cap-and-trade down our throats. The Dhimmicrats are absolutely stark raving mad at this point. Blaming the mother of 5 kids with no other employment than to write a book and make posts on Facebook for the downfall of their entire agenda.

I think that makes Sarah a giant killer, by definition. (Of course, the giant, in this case, was actually more like smoke and mirrors from the Wizard of Oz).

Go Sarah. More effective use of cash in the cause of conservatism, you’ll not find. So give it to her PAC and watch the heads roll, and the Dhimmicrats pee all over themselves in fear.

Amazing – the WH is gloating about winning one over Palin? Winning one over a woman they dismiss as stupid, a walking disaster, a quitter? BFD

Maybe they should be a little more worried about winning over the half of the voters they didn’t win last election cycle before the bloom went off the shiney toy they ran.

katiejane on November 5, 2009 at 9:33 AM

My fondest hope is that Republicans take the House and that impeachment charges get filed immediately afterwards.

BottomLine5 on November 4, 2009 at 9:06 PM

You’re in danger of sounding like a Kos idiot here – just like when they were screaming impeach Bushitler from 2001 onwards.

The President might be a thin-skinned, arrogant, incompetent, marxist fool but alas that does not meet the criteria for impeachment.

Anders on November 5, 2009 at 9:49 AM

Oh. After weeks of pumping this Hoffman guy up, now he is a terrible retail politician. How soon you guys turn.

Face it, the Palin circus drives indie voters away and you can’t win elections without indie voters. Maybe she can change that somehow down the road, but right now, it is what it is.

Fred Thompson ain’t no prize, either. I know, because I’m a Tennessean. Stay in the acting biz, Fred. You’re entertaining. You suck as a politician.

Idiot. It’s the Independents who voted for Hoffman. Not the Republicans.

Palin holds the key to the Independents. Recent poll data revealed that.

TheAlamos on November 5, 2009 at 11:25 AM

They’re 2-0 against this lady who the claim is a complete idiot and totally dominates the national agenda by posting on Facebook.

And all it took was billions of dollars and hours of time from the President of the United States.

They should be so proud.

TheUnrepentantGeek on November 5, 2009 at 11:31 AM

But she will not be the Republican candidate in 2012.

Why wouldn’t she be?

…THE PALIN CIRCUS DRIVES INDIE VOTERS AWAY…

COMMENT:

Independent voters like Republicans and Democrats are NOT monolithic. They are also divided into conservatives, moderates and liberals.

As to the latter Sarah is not going after their support. As for the moderates that is not a focus of Sarah’s attention right now. What however is a focus of her attention is to increasingly gain the support of INDEPENDENT CONSERVATIVES, especially those who are representative of the Tea Party movement and ex-Republicans who gave up their GOP membership as a protest of the GOP becoming too moderate.

I really feel Sarah can make inroads among this group over the next year and where her gain in popularity and in the polls will become more pronounced. The base will always be with Sarah. I have no doubt about that.

technopeasant on November 5, 2009 at 12:28 PM

We love Sarah. She’s perfect face of the Republican party — high negatives, vaguely confused, performs poorly in public and a lousy won-lost record. Plus, the attracts media attention.

Bleeds Blue on November 4, 2009 at 10:43 PM

“Death Panels” = destruction of the unicorn paradise.

No matter how much you want to pretend the woman is dumb, she’s in President Obama’s OODA loop hardcore.

BadgerHawk on November 5, 2009 at 12:48 PM

Let me get this straight NY-23 was the one the really wanted to win and the Gov. races meant nothing. It never ceases to amaze me how terrified the Dems. are of Palin!

Dark-Star;

Run for president; Skip the military altogether.
Start your campaign now and Obambi will help you with funding!
You can become the first “queen” (or drag queen) elected to President of the United States! Think of the parties you could throw at the White House! And you could turn it into The Chartreuse House! Look at the historic significance!

Moesart on November 5, 2009 at 11:08 AM

Sounds a little like a straw man to me. Not many are saying that Hoffman is “terrible”; he’s obviously not Mr Excitement but seemed pretty solid on the issues. He probably needed a little more time and a less convoluted ballot situation.

ddrintn on November 5, 2009 at 6:45 PM

Moesart on November 5, 2009 at 11:08 AM

The argument can be made that despite the limitations on Hoffman’s charisma and his political inexperience that Sarah Palin’s endorsement brought a virtual “3rd party candidate” and unknown to within 3-4 percentage points of victory.

Look Moesart, Owens only won after Dede and the RINO establishment in district 23 supported him. You can’t blame Palin if Dede turned traitor and betrayed her party.

technopeasant on November 5, 2009 at 11:40 PM

How can they be 2-0 against her?

Last I checked, McCain was at the top of the ballot in ’08 and they didn’t even show up for NY-23.

Are they so desperate for a win they’ll take credit for Scuzzy’s dirty work?

That’s a rhetorical question, by the way.
