Project Valour-IT update
posted at 8:05 am on November 3, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
After more than a week of promoting Project Valour-IT, it’s time for an update. We’ve done well so far, raising over $41,000 to put adaptive technology into the lives of wounded vets in order to help them adapt to life back on the home front. At the half-way mark, though, we’ve only raised about a third of our overall goal. Usually the fundraising picks up in the second half of the two-week effort, but in order to kick-start it, we’ll need everyone to kick in as soon as possible.
I’m on the Air Force team this year, and you can help wounded veterans receive adaptive-technology laptops to help them regain their productivity by donating now:

Soldiers’ Angels is a wonderful organization that I have been a part of for 6 1/2 years now. What better way to say thank you and to show them we have their back at home by helping in this wonderful project or by “adopting” your own hero for the duration of their deployment. I have made life long friends and am amazed of the emails I still receive from the heroes I have met. Christmas cards still come in as well as birth announcements and family pictures.
I just received this the other day from one of my current heroes and it shows how the little things can mean so much.
“Jan:
Thank you so much. I almost forgot how much real sheets feel like
I layed down today for a nap and almost felt human again. Its better than the military sleeping bag by far. The pillow was an extra blessing, since I was using a rolled up blanket before.”
Here is a different hero that I am also adopting and his message to me.
“Its a pleasure to meet you. Well let me tell you a little about myself. I am 41yro, joined up a little in life. I am on a patrol base in the middle of nowhere. We have no px or anything like that, we are lucky to have showers. Oh and by the way I feel very honored that you picked me. Makes me feel special, which is a feeling you don’t get much here. Hope that dosn’t sound too sappy. Well my time on the computer is up. I will send this off and wait for your reply. Thanks Again”
PLEASE SUPPORT THIS VERY WORTHY CAUSE.

Ed: Great cause, thanks for plugging it. I fully support this effort as a military health care provider and guy who has friends who need this stuff.
strong work.

Don’t worry Ed, I am not letting the husband’s stint in the Army and attachment to a commenter here currently deployed sway me. I will support your team again next pay period.

Suggestion for anyone making a donation to Valour-IT: if your company does matching donations to qualified charities, Soldiers Angels is qualified. For the third year in a row my donation will double thru the matching program at my employer.
It’s not too late to submit your request to your company. Imagine if even 5% of the donors were able to double their donation…

Donated on the Army side, but all sides are worthy.
Will donate again when I get my federal refund.
