This pant load was nominated by a "committee" and turned out to be the as disingenuous as Arlene "maybe they'll let me keep my job in this party" Spectre. The people of the 23rd deserve everything they get and when the well runs dry, good luck. The exodus from NY and California is in full swing, the tax base is leaving or has left and they have no where to turn but on each other. You are already seeing that liberals do eat their young.

Infiltration is the key word. Anyone one with intelligence knows that War will never end and neither will infiltration.

Thanks for another epicly articulate piece, Doc!

I'll take two chill pills and check out the election landscape in the morning.

Hopefully Chairman MaoBarry's nose will be bloodied by the time it's all over. Figuratively speaking, of course!

These are all very good points, doc.

I would like to be a fly on the wall in the RNC headquarters after tonight's elections.

The nascent libertarian-conservative movement, which has been quite apparent in the blogosphere, is, apparently, news to the schmucks running the GOP.

The parade has passed them by while they sat trying to sell the same old spin.

Note to GOP - you have betrayed us and our principles too many times for us to ever trust you again.

You need to get used to having conservative challengers to incumbent do-nothing elected officials.

This is no longer the party of Tom Delay and Dennis Hastert.

Note to DNC - this will happen to you, too, with the same Dennis Kucinich-loving liberals who helped Obama move past HRC in the primaries.

They will run ideological left wing candidates who reject your "centrist" corprate-funded programs and ideas.

You eat from the same trough as the GOP and you will suffer the same electoral consequences.

Too much of the Republicans’ “Stupid Party” strategy is based on the mechanics of getting people with little elephants on their campaign signs elected. They view the election as the conclusion of a contest, when in fact it’s only the beginning. A successful Republican Party doesn’t have to be ideologically rigid, but it should insist on candidates who possess an intellectual foundation of conservative theory, and the ability to explain it at least as well as the thousands of people posting comments on conservative blogs.

Have you considered the other possibility?

Someone put s-fava in. Someone pumped national party money to s-fava.

Perhaps these someones like s-fava's politics. Perhaps some political manipulators are not naively running moderates with the hopes they will be of some use later. Perhaps these folk agree with the politics of s-fava more than the politics of a Hoffman, and truly want to load a bunch of s-fava's into office.

As the 'naive' strategy of nominating moderate candidates against the will of the base escalates, there grows more evidence the machine itself has a moderate agenda

To get a bunch of unwashed conservatives to vote for the your moderate candidate is difficult. It could be useful to tell them you are doing it only because your hands are tied, and although you dislike the candidate, you have to run him to get the independents and half a loaf is better than none

In other words, a double shell game

Too much of the Republicans’ “Stupid Party” strategy is based on the mechanics of getting people with little elephants on their campaign signs elected. They view the election as the conclusion of a contest, when in fact it’s only the beginning. A successful Republican Party doesn’t have to be ideologically rigid, but it should insist on candidates who possess an intellectual foundation of conservative theory, and the ability to explain it at least as well as the thousands of people posting comments on conservative blogs.

Have you considered the other possibility?

Someone put s-fava in. Someone pumped national party money to s-fava.

Perhaps these someones like s-fava’s politics. Perhaps some political manipulators are not naively running moderates with the hopes they will be of some use later. Perhaps these folk agree with the politics of s-fava more than the politics of a Hoffman, and truly want to load a bunch of s-fava’s into office.

As the ‘naive’ strategy of nominating moderate candidates against the will of the base escalates, there grows more evidence the machine itself has a moderate agenda

To get a bunch of unwashed conservatives to vote for the your moderate candidate is difficult. It could be useful to tell them you are doing it only because your hands are tied, and although you dislike the candidate, you have to run him to get the independents and half a loaf is better than none

In other words, a double shell game

Doctor Zero, our newest re-Founding Father. It is great to know this country still has intelligent citizens. At times I think we are surrounded by zombies. Super, terrific article Doctor Zero. We are going to need you terribly these next 3 years!

Something else the "Stupid Party" wants to focus in on is this deal about the appearance or attractiveness of a candidate. What I mean is the ripping of Bobby Jindal after his rebuttal to The Manchild, and recent comments I have read in the blogs regarding Hoffman's inability to speak well. I get it that in these days of marketing and slick packaging the "Stupid Party" does need to run a Presidential candidate that can match up with The Manchild's star power appearance. Another Bob Dole/John McCain we do not need. However, we the voters need to start teaching the general ignorant populous how to listen to the words coming out of a candidate's mouth. Obama is who we thought he was because of the words coming out of his mouth. His radicalness is not a surprise to most at HotAir because we were immune from the Hollywood marketing of Teh Won. Many voters and little Billy O'Reilly do not get it that the words of a candidate DO indicate what is in their heart and soul, and therefore an indicator of how they will govern. (O'Reilly last night ripping Rush for suggesting The Manchild is wrecking the economy on purpose. UGH!)

Sarah in her 4X4 versus Newt and the ability to use Power Point is another clear example of what worries me about how most in the "Stupid Party" do not have the ability to cut through the packaging and realize one of these individuals has the heart of Margaret Thatcher or a Lion, and the other a heart of a Macy's Thanksgiving Day balloon.

I heard last night on Fox via some pundit that McDonnell, if he wins VA, will most certainly be on the short list for a VP spot in the 2012 elections. WHAT? The man has not been governor of VA yet, but all because they THINK he ran a good campaign he should be a VP candidate! In the immortal words of little old lady in the Wendy's commercial, "Where's the beef?" Where is the substance? We need substance, or lots of 4X4's over Power Point presentations from the "Stupid Party".
