Oh my: Cavuto challenges Shep Smith over claim that Fox isn’t balanced

He never mentions him by name, of course, and I’m sure he’ll play dumb when asked about this, but there’s no doubt it was aimed at Shep’s now-infamous on-air upbraiding of Shannon Bream for interviewing Chris Christie without having an interview with Corzine already in the can. It’s the same reporter covering the same race and raising the same journalistic issue, i.e. whether it’s fair to give airtime to one candidate if his opponent is unavailable. Before I even saw the clip at Johnny Dollar’s, a reader e-mailed excitedly to say, “Cavuto just went after Shep!” Just a little context for you for when Neil inevitably claims he hasn’t the faintest idea what this is all about.
Speaking of Democrats who won’t appear on Fox News, the Standard notes that Team Barry has apparently had a dramatic change of heart about boycotting the network. Are they right that letting Hillary talk to Greta is the White House’s declaration of surrender in the war on FNC? Or is this a case of The One trying to punish his secretary of state for becoming something of a public embarrassment? Click the image to watch.

Shepard smith was, is and always will be, a bozo. Why he is even on FNC has always baffled me. The only possible reason is either a) he’s married to Murdoch’s daughter; or b) he has pictures of Murdoch frolicking with a herd of goats. No other possible explanation.

Yes, but Cavuto actually asks them challenging questions. I think his (stated) friendship with Martha Stewart makes him too shy with her, though, but that’s the one exception.
Cavuto doesn’t let fools pose too easily on his broadcasts, other than he’s relatively formal with them when they’re on the business-issues.

Cavuto is so full of sh*t. We don’t know what lengths Fixed News went to get an interview with Corzine and after the Rush Limbaugh interview which was essentially a 30 min infomercial bashing President Obama, I don’t blame Corzine one bit if he refused an interview with Fixed News.
And as the part about only caring about the color green (i.e., money), even that’s bs if most of your viewers are right wing-nuts you’re going to of course cater to them.

Interesting concept Shep is floating there. Let one candidate dictate the exposure of the other. If you don’t want the press talking to your opponent, all you have to do is not talk to the press yourself!
So you get the big warchest ready and stonewall the press. YOU run commercials and infomercials and the press quietly ignores your opponents message since talking to them while you refuse to talk wouldn’t be ‘fair’.

Fox is far from centrist. I would put Fox News down as center-right/right. Just as MSNBC is center-left/left and CNN is center-left.

Fox is about as balanced as Liz Taylor… and just as entertaining. I don’t mind Fox.. it’s news from a certain perspective and has value without being balanced.
But it is positively Orwellian of them to keep the ‘Fair and Balanced’ mantra and they aren’t the only ones guilty of that.

He thinks reading the news is a great skill and that he is worth more the 7 gazillion they pay him. Since the (non) competition would love to strike at Fox, they will pay him even more gazillions. He will leave, and immediately lose 2/3 of his viewers.
Fox will replace him with one of their many brilliant and gorgeous women reporters, who we would all rather watch read the news than Shep, and the ratings, of course, will skyrocket at Fox.

Based on their journalists’ campaign contributions, MSNBC is 95% Democrat, CNN is 90% Democrat, and Fox News is 80% Democrat.
Everything is relative. You can claim the media are at or near YOUR center, and no one can possibly prove that you are lying about that. However, your center is nowhere near that of any normal American. Don’t take this the wrong way, but you very severely unbalanced.

Shep Smith just ran a story about the NY-23 election and claimed that the mean conservatives dumped “moderate” Scozzafava solely because she “supports abortion rights and gay rights”. That was the extent of his “analysis” of the situation before going to the field reporter. What a tool.
