It’s on: Palin vs. Biden on energy
posted at 4:10 pm on November 2, 2009 by Allahpundit
Something spicy from this morning’s sparsely attended rally for Owens in NY-23. In one corner: A widely disliked dimwit who came to national prominence on last year’s ticket. In the other corner: Sarah Palin. Evidently she’s embraced a rapid response strategy to her critics because this makes twice in two days where some charge leveled against her was answered within hours on Facebook:
As the vice president knows, I have always advocated an all-of-the-above approach to American energy independence. Among other things, my alternative energy goal for Alaska sits at 50 percent because Alaska reached more than 20 percent during my term in office. The Obama-Biden administration, on the other hand, recently announced a renewable goal of only 25 percent. However, domestic drilling should remain a top priority in order to meet America’s consumption and security needs.
The vice president’s extreme opposition to domestic energy development goes all the way back to 1973 when he opposed the Alaska pipeline bill. As Ann Coulter pointed out, “Biden cast one of only five votes against the pipeline that has produced more than 15 billion barrels of oil, supplied nearly 20 percent of this nation’s oil, created tens of thousands of jobs, added hundreds of billions of dollars to the U.S. economy and reduced money transfers to the nation’s enemies by about the same amount.”
This nonsensical opposition to American domestic energy development continues to this day. Apparently the Obama-Biden administration only approves of offshore drilling in Brazil, where it will provide security and jobs for Brazilians. This election is about American security and American jobs.
There’s one way to tell Vice President Biden that we’re tired of folks in Washington distorting our message and hampering our nation’s progress: Hoffman, Baby, Hoffman!
Biden, of course, is working off a script by mentioning Palin; as noted on Saturday, Sarahcuda’s playing the same boogeyman role for Democrats these days that Pelosi’s playing for Republicans. That’s one of the reasons why, despite her high-profile backing of Hoffman and her offer to help McDonnell and Christie, you’re not seeing her out on the trail in any of these races. So nervous is McDonnell about being linked to her, in fact, that not only is he not mentioned by name in her new robocall in Virginia but he specifically denied knowing anything about it when asked. Hey, Bob? You’re about to give Deeds an unholy beating. Mellow out. Click the image to watch.

I didn’t know about Biden’s opposition to the Alaska Pipeline from the 70s. Has he ever been right about anything?

Kinda fun to watch them spar, although I can’t help feeling a little sorry for Plugs the same way I feel when Sheila Jackson Lee gives a speech on the record.

On topic: I really don’t get McDonnell’s jello-ness when it comes to Sarah Palin. I suspect if this was a closer race he’d ask for her help. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. For now.
SouthernGent on November 2, 2009 at 4:16 PM
“It’s a lot more complicated, Sarah.”
OK, I’m not laughing at Joe anymore. I am now officially fed up with his racist, sexist, knuckle-dragging bullsh*t and the fact that the MSM lets him get away with it. His comment above is just dripping with misogynist contempt, its subtext saying she should get back in the kitchen (or the bedroom) and let the menfolk worry about the complicated things like energy policy. The use of her first name, the leaning into the mic, the nasty little twinkle in his eye. This guy needs an ass-kicking in the worst way. By a girl.

Yes folks, another Palin post by AP. It’s obvious AP has a crush on the lady (who is undeniably a MILF), but from the shear number of posts devoted to her one might think that she is the most important figure in the conservative movement.

The fact that the White House allowed Joe Dolt out in public again means that their nervousness factor is running high; they’re desperate enough to allow a moron to give speeches.

sleepy-beans on November 2, 2009 at 4:18 PM
Okay, I understanding attacking the Cuda on foreign policy and other weaknesses she may have, but come on. If there is one fight you do not want to pick with Sarah Palin, it’s on energy. What idiot at the White House thought that up. Energy is the Cuda’s greatest strength, and I think we are gonna be seeing some pownage in the next couple of days.

Well, she’s certainly among the most important, especially among the grassroots. And judging by the number of comments on posts about her, readers seem to be keenly interested in what she’s up to. Am I supposed to not write about stuff that our readership is intensely interested in? I can skip the election coverage tomorrow night if you like.

Let’s look at the current energy policies of the Obama adminstration. No offshore drilling unless you count Brazil. No new refineries. No new nuclear power plants. New coal plants are being blocked by the EPA. None of these mythical green jobs(at least not without huge government subsidies). A crap-and-betrayed bill that’s so disastrous, the Senate’s sat on it since June. And oh yeah, gas prices are slowly inching back towards 3 bucks a gallon.
Way to tout one your President’s “strengths”, Joe. And if there’s one area that even Palin’s toughest critics will acknowledge she’s an expert on, it’s energy. This is a debate he does not want to engage.
BTW, does anyone else think this woman would absolutely destroy Obama in a debate? My God, he’d run off the stage in tears after the first 20 minutes.

I think it’s time to lay off the attacks on AP. I think he’s doing a great job of covering these stories objectively, and leaving his opinions out of it.
UltimateBob on November 2, 2009 at 4:25 PM
I think they need to debate the issue. Put it on pay per view and fund a charity somewhere. Or how about something like Celebrity Jeopardy ala Wolf Blitzer only this time have Biden pay out of his own pocket when he goes below zero. Can you imagine the categories? Energy, Taxes, Job creation, actual work experience, the Constitution. What category could Biden possibly win since he can’t relate to anything we deal with other than to figure out a way to regulate it?
DanMan on November 2, 2009 at 4:26 PM

“It’s more complicated than that darling“
Caper29 on November 2, 2009 at 4:27 PM
I have no doubt that McDonnell himself would love to have Palin stumping for him. It’s his RINO, Romney loving campaign manager Ed Gillespie who is keeping them separate. Apparently Palin is too divisive and polarizing. Ask Doug Hoffman how that theory is working out.
davek70 on November 2, 2009 at 4:27 PM
I could do without all the polls touting Palin’s negative ratings. We get it. She’s got hurdles to overcome.
But this thread was entirely reasonable. He stuck up for Palin, bashed Biden, and it was regarding energy policy which hasn’t gotten too much run lately thanks to Obamacare dominating the headlines.
So in this case, I agree. Lay off the dude.
Doughboy on November 2, 2009 at 4:27 PM

I’m thinking that though AP isn’t gung-ho for Sarah, he also hasn’t written her off. Honest critic doesn’t bother me, and I’ve seen him defend the insanity thrown against her. AP’s okay with me.

Interesting that Sarahcuda didn’t delve deeper into the Brazil drilling statement by mentioning the link to George Soros as well.
MarkBoabaca on November 2, 2009 at 4:31 PM
Why is no one rebutting Biden, Axelrod, et al on their claim that the Republican Party is promoting far right candidates? The real problem is just the opposite–the Republican Party promoted so many moderate-to-left-leaning candidates that voters are rejecting the Party in favor of conservative candidates, regardless of official party affiliation.
I guess the dems know only one play- attack and hope no one challenges their bs.
LASue on November 2, 2009 at 4:31 PM
Seeing as none of the dusty robo-feminists will pull Joey’s plugs on that misogynist statement, we can count on Sarah to stand up for women.
caygeon on November 2, 2009 at 4:32 PM
Poor old Joe’s really losing the complexity issues. If ANY politician understands developing domestic petroleum and natural gas energy, it’s Palin. Certainly not Biden. And how on earth do you jump from “Drill, baby, drill!” into neglecting public education? Poor ol’ Alzheimer Joe. Are his speech writers really priming him, or is he just rambling as usual?
It’s long past time states cultivate the small nuclear energy power plants, rather than handing Japan another business monopoly.

victor82 on November 2, 2009 at 4:35 PM
Sarahcuda’s playing the same boogeyman role for Democrats these days that Pelosi’s playing for Republicans.
yeah because their poll numbers are so close and everything. Mcdonall is staying away from Palin not because he is ascared of her but because his campaign manager is a major Mitt player and Mitt is trying to sideline Palin. These are the same people that believe a conservative can not win the general election. VA and NJ races both have high profile Mitt supporters in key decsion makeing postions and Mitt does not want Palin to get anymore face time. Of course those people will say the reason they don’t want Palin to campaign for them is because they are worried about independent votes but it is really about postioning for 2012 for Mitt and his people.
It says alot that Mitt’s people would rather lose the election in NJ then use every asset at their disposal.
And make no mistake Palin is a huge asset.

It’s typical Enemy Party ploy, when they face a hard choice, to say the matter is ‘complicated’.

This administration wastes more energy on attacking people that are not elected to any office than any I’ve ever witnessed. Rush, FoxNews, Sarah, everyone is a boogie man and they’ve got to crush them or sneeringly make fun of them.
Anybody that asks them anything serious about Afghanistan, Iraq, the jobless, the economy, energy, is branded a kook and thrown in the toilet? Nevermind, they’re the ones flushing the toilet and taking both wars, the jobless and economy down the drain with the rest of it.
