Don’t get so excited that you take your eye off the ball. Try to keep a broad perspective of what is going on and try not to let your enthusiasm overwhelm you. There is a LOT of work to do.

These races are tight, it is quite possible that the Democrats will win everything outside of Virginia. Be prepared for that.

Yep this election means nothing… I bet it sure slips into a lot of commentary for the next few weeks at least… and then next fall, this election will be examined in every single detail.

And always the conclusion will be that it didn’t mean anything at all.

In fact, 2009 seems to have underscored what may be the biggest impediment for Republicans — the war within their base…

Yes because you see, when the democrats have the White House, filibuster proof House and Senate but can’t get their agenda pushed through, it’s because they are “united” and the Republicans are in disarray.

With a Republican winning by a huge margin in Virginia (that was proof the country was changing to liberal when Obama won by 6 points,now ….means Republicans can’t get their act together according to the AP),poised to win in New Jersey(with a 600,000 registered democratic advantage) and also in New York,it is proof that the Republicans have a long way to go and Obama is doing fine.

yea…yea…that’s it liberals.
Let’s go with the “losing is proof we are winning line”.
….and the stimulus was a great success……and “smart power” is working great internationally……and Obama has kept all of his promises and gets an A- so far……yea…yea….that’s the ticket.

Texas used to be Democrat. Then it was Republican. Now it is more Independent than Republican and Democrat combined.

Actually, in terms of registration, Texas is still Democratic, because in a lot of counties the local races are still on the Democratic line, even with candidates who are relatively conservative, so people register Democratic in order to have a say in their local elections, then vote Republican in the general.

At the higher levels, there was a bit of a shift left in 2006 and 2008, but of course not nearly as far as in other parts of the country and due in large part with general dissatisfaction with Republicans at the national level. Hard to see that trend continuing in 2010 with the current anger towards the Democrats in D.C., though some of the more partisan people in the Perry-Hutchison primary run could try to de facto take their ball and go home for the general election (which also depends on how smart a campaign whoever gets the Democratic nomination runs in a year when Obama and Pelosi aren’t going to be an asset outside of the central sections of Austin).

The GOP has become little more than a bunch of Democrat-Lite traitors. Let the whole lot of them either finally admit to their real standards and officially convert to the dark side, or slink away from the political scene never to return.

It’s high time for a truly new and grassroots and conservative party to take the place of those bumbling two-faced clowns. They are worse than useless.

This will affect their plans in Washington to go forward with Socialism about as much as the hundreds of thousands (or millions, who knows?) of Tea Partiers in D.C. and across the country affected them.

If nothing else, it may just hasten their ramming through of their Marxist junk.

Democratic divisions over the path forward, the lack of a national leader ie: an incredibly shrinking presidentbase is changing a nation.
