Quotes of the day
posted at 9:30 pm on November 1, 2009 by Allahpundit
“For some time now Frank Rich, Sam Tanenhaus and countless others (including David Frum) have been arguing that the GOP is a rump party and the only way for it to survive is for it to embrace me-too Republicanism of one flavor or another. The story of all three major races (VA, NJ, and NY-23) is that this conventional wisdom was incandescently wrong and ill-advised… The GOP is an unapologetically conservative party, providing a choice not an echo, and — horror of horrors — it’s working.”
***
“The more rightists who win G.O.P. primaries, the greater the Democrats’ prospects next year. But the electoral math is less interesting than the pathology of this movement. Its antecedent can be found in the early 1960s, when radical-right hysteria carried some of the same traits we’re seeing now: seething rage, fear of minorities, maniacal contempt for government, and a Freudian tendency to mimic the excesses of political foes. Writing in 1964 of that era’s equivalent to today’s tea party cells, the historian Richard Hofstadter observed that the John Birch Society’s ‘ruthless prosecution’ of its own ideological war often mimicked the tactics of its Communist enemies.
“The same could be said of Beck, Palin and their acolytes. Though they constantly liken the president to various totalitarian dictators, it is they who are re-enacting Stalinism in full purge mode.”
***
“But other conservatives say the problem in both the New York contest and hampering Republicans more broadly is the tendency of GOP establishment leaders in Washington to get behind moderate candidates out of fear a purist conservative can’t win a general election.
“‘Hmmm, I thought the Era of Reagan was over?’ conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh wrote in an e-mail to POLITICO. ‘Who was it that said that? Oh yeah, the smart people on our side who told us the only way we could win was with moderate-liberal candidates like Scozzafava.’…
“‘I think it will empower tea party activists’ to look for moderate scalps in other districts, fretted one senior GOP strategist with national campaign experience. ‘The question is, Will we go through a period in the party where a great purge begins?’ this strategist asked. ‘If it spreads into that, this will be a very bad day.’
***
“The truth is that some conservatives are as bloody-minded and intolerant of all dissent as the hard left is at the Daily Kos. A majority political party requires a far more diverse coalition than the audience for your average right-wing blogger or talk show host. Some of those voices prefer having Democrats in power because it drives up their own ratings.
“Democrats did themselves no favors by driving Joe Lieberman out of their party, and conservatives will do their cause no good by forcing GOP candidates in Illinois, California and Connecticut to sound like Tom DeLay. If conservatives now revolt against every GOP candidate who disagrees with them on trade, immigration or abortion, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid will keep their majorities for a very long time.”
***
WALLACE: Lucille Golman sent this question, “Did you vote for John McCain in the 2008 presidential election?”
RUSH: I did.
WALLACE: Really?
RUSH: Of course.
WALLACE: But you’ve been so critical of John McCain.
RUSH: Yes, but you weigh the two. I don’t think — there are a lot of people, Chris, that are saying there’s no difference in two parties. I know a lot of people think that, and they’re — and they really, really believe it.
But I don’t know of any Republican who would try to take over one-sixth of the U.S. economy. I don’t know one Republican who would put forth this — this irresponsible cap and trade bill. I don’t know one Republican who would actually do that as something he initiated.

For those who were too friggin’ dumb to see the fending off of the Shamnesty, the Tea Parties, the Town Halls and the culmination in over a million people showing up in DC, all while everyone and everything “mainstream” was working against them, ignoring everything they did and denigrating their efforts every step along the way.
This is the final defense being mounted to save the American creed, against the treasonous Left and the Vichy Right who have been working to destroy this nation and everything we stand for.

Boehner is correct, but this isn’t a political rebellion, it is a final political DEFENSE of the Constitution and the most important notion of limited government and the federal government being restricted to the framework laid out bu our Founders. Boehner needs to understand that this all revolves around the Constitution. Stick to it, and you’ll have no problems. Stray from it, as with entertaining anything about this nation-killing health care monstrosity or any of the other un-Constitutional cr@p that the treasonous left is trying to shove down our throats, and you will be in the sights.
And defense of American sovereignty, the key part of the implementation fo the Constitution, is without compromise. The American government is meant to work FOR AMERICANS. Period.

Now that’s what I’m talkin’ about!!!!!!
Rovin on November 1, 2009 at 9:43 PM
Does Krugman really believe this?
Could a grown man seriously believe that opposition to nationalized health care stems from a “fear of minorities?”
Or opposing the de-industrialization (cap’n'trade) of the United States is simply “maniacal contempt for government?”
Can you actually make a living writing this kind of tripe?
And here I am getting ready to go to work tomorrow morning like a chump.

Conservative bloggers and tea partiers were ahead of the curve, while Fred Thompson and especially Sarah Palin became our national voice in the NY-23 race.
What the GOP and Michael Steele needs to realize is that the NY-23 race is a shining example of what is to come if the GOP continues to put a deaf ear to conservatives. We outnumber the establishment and they better not forget it.
Coming next is Florida and California. The NRSC chose their candidates in Fiorina and Crist, when we have excellent and articulate conservatives in Chuck DeVore and Marco Rubio.
The time for moderation is over.

I found this interesting and just thought I’d copy and paste from another thread (the Newt blog one). This guy is running for Obama’s seat in the Senate and this is one Republican who should fortunately have no chance in hell. Now tell us AGAIN why a “vote for him is a vote for McConnell and to oppose him is to bolster Harry Reid”:

Steeele needs to resign. He is an unmitigated disaster. He just has to go. It would have been appropriate if Scuzzy had announced Steele’s resignation with the end of her own Lefty-Dem-as-Repub campaign.
There is no room for compromise with the Constitution and American tradition. The Dems have the traitor vote all sewn up. Republicans need to be conservative. And they need to understand that the left are political terrorists and you NEVER negotiate with terrorists.

In the 60′s it was the liberal wing of the north east Republican party, like Nelson Rockefeller, that created the jargon that referred to conservatives as right wing extremists.
Today, it is the socialists that call people who believe in law and order, small government, and individual freedom anything but the conservatives that they are.
Never forget that the socialist agenda IS to ultimatly convert the US into a marxist haven for a powerfull political elite. This is why EVERY PROPOSAL that the Obama administration makes creates ever larger government solutions that continuously remove freedom from the people.

Quote this Allah:
From my conservative professor:
Dear Ms. van Susteren,
Since Dede Scozzafava has now endorsed the Democrat in NY-23, there are two questions that Mr. Gingrich needs to be asked the next time he appears on your show.
First, exactly how many times may a “moderate Republican” endorse a Democrat before they graduate to (a) being a liberal Republican, (b) a closet Democrat, or (c) an actual Democrat?
Second, if Mr. Gingrich cannot tell a Democrat — either closet or actual — from a moderate Republican, why should rank-and-file Republicans trust his judgment as to the best way forward for the party?

We just got back from a Bob McDonnell rally at our local airport. The crowd was probably about 300 people. It was such great fun, but very instructive. The whole campaign was for the most part, positive. The three offices that need to be filled are Attorney General, Lt. Governor, and Governor. They each have their separate races, but this time the Republicans decided to join forces as a team. And what an awesome team it is.
They ran a positive campaign by telling us what they stand for, what they want to do and then promising to do it. They never mentioned their opponents, or Obama. They never mentioned the words “hope” or “change”. They did talk about the Constitution and Virginia’s Constitution. We all came away with the feeling there was substance to their promises and that they would do everything in their power to make it all happen and protect us from the Federal Government. They addressed what is frustrating us and that they truly “got it”! We know they will win, but we were all praying for a huge blowout!

The left loved the purges and hope to do the same, themselves, though most of the modern left are really more in the mold of the French Revolutionaries. They are just itching to bring on the Reign of Terror, as their idols did.
Frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if the left didn’t try to bring back the old (and insane) French Revolutionary Calendar. It’s the best weapon against Western religions. They’re that insane and hateful of all American tradition and good sense.
