Which is a long way of saying that while the message is correct, Sarahcuda may not be the optimal messenger here

When is Palin EVER the "optimal messenger" (to you) AP?

For the life of me, I can't figure out why you hate her so much.

My take...

Newt and the "elites" of the party always talk about how they want a "big tent". They see how the Republican Party is perceived (and the stereotype portrayed/enforced by the State Approved Media) as a party of rich old white men, Christian fanatics, homophobics and hypocrites, and of course don't forget gun-toting, teabagging racists. They are well aware, of course, that this stereotype keeps many minorities from ever even thinking about the Republican Party. They are desperate to "rebrand" and attract more blacks, hispanics, gays, and other diverse groups into the "tent". However, rather than fight that stereotype and attract new people with ideas, they want to fight it with appearances: Look, Colin Powell is a Republican, Dede is a Republican, see how accepting and wonderful we are! This is a huge fail, of course, because "real" Republicans can see that these people either endorse very Democrat ideologies, or even endorse actual Democrat candidates, and Democrats see the desperate tactic and are rightly cynical about the sincerity of the Republican Party's openness, because they are latching onto anyone, trying to be one of the "popular kids". This tactic just makes the party easier to portray as racist and out of touch.

What these elites fail to see, is that they have bought into the stereotype. They don't see themselves that way, of course, but they see the conservative movement that way. And we're NOT that way. I don't know of any conservative who would want to exclude any person from the party, as long as they were for smaller government, personal responsibility for their actions, and supported the Constitution. I think there will always be debate between the social conservatives and socially-liberal conservatives, but no party has (or should have) a 100% unanimous membership, and it needs to be known that when religion and social issues are brought up, that debate is welcomed, not excluded.

Tea Parties have begun to draw minorities because of the *ideas* represented. There are people from all walks of life who embrace conservative ideals, and who are surprised when they meet a conservative and find that we are not racist, bigot, religious fanatic, gun-brandishing lunatics. Bringing back and communicating true conservative ideas through the grassroots, lead-by-example way is the only way to get more people into the tent. Treating conservatives like the embarrassing relatives who show up for Thanksgiving is not the way to go about it. They need to come back to fiscally conservative values and emphasize the things we have in common: The desire to follow the Constitution, strong national defense, secure borders, small government, individual liberty and property rights, etc. And let newcomers know that we accept them and we welcome debate on the social things we may disagree on. That's the true "big tent".
In my opinion.

I want to personally thank Republican Dede Scozzafava for acting so selflessly today in the NY District 23 race.

It was sure selfless all right. Too bad it wasn’t meant to help the republicans/conservatives. What an incompetent, she did the one thing that would sink the guy she was trying to help. Just goes to show, moderates can’t get ANYTHING right. Tell us Dede how does that make you feel? (As if I give a F#*&!)

How could Gingrich and Steele support someone like that?

Simple: Party before principles.

For those who think Palin is stupid, reckless, or generally doesn't know what she's doing...please re-read the first paragraph before sticking your foot in your mouth. She knows--first hand--that this is what is rotting the GOP from the core. You can either be part of the problem, or be part of the solution. She's choosing the latter; and like-minded conservatives will receive the lion-share of the votes on the right.

Crazy, I know. Listening to the public. Weird. How Maverickey.

As long as Obama and the libs are running things, the angst toward them and the RINO's will carry this country to elect a real patriot in 2012.

Thank you for giving us Obama. In Obama, the despicable nature of the liberal is exposed for all to see and never again will Americans be fooled by a slick talking democrat scum bag.

Allahpundit, I have to wonder how that Republican Unity angle is working out for you. Since the RINO dropped out, she's endorsed the other Democrat in the race, and so we're left to wonder. What are we supposed to support the Republicans for? Is it for the honor of supporting Party over principal? Is it the idea that Republican Socialism is more paletable than Democratic Socialism?

You support the Republicans blindly Allah, I'll stick with my Conservative values. Voting for a person because of a letter after their name is childish. It's the tactic the Democrats always use, and it's morally and logically bankrupt. It's how this nation got into the mess it's in now. Fools on both sides of the aisles who had the same plan, but different means of getting to the end game.

It's time to change the system all right, and it's past time to throw the RINO's back on their side of the aisle, with the other Democrats. If we don't stand for something, then there isn't any reason to vote for a Republican, other than asinine party loyalty.

I'm loyal, to the nation, to the conservative values that founded it, and to the conservative principals that have kept it great. Individual liberty and freedom Allahpundit, are the cornerstones of this nations greatness. Not blind support of a political party.

Everyone should cut A-pundit some slack. His favorite candidate drops out of the NY-23 race, and Boobs McCain still won't 'Friend' him on Facebook. He's just not having a great week.

AP - you have said some d-bag things about Palin in the past, but this one really takes the cake. Palin didn't turn her back on a candidate that was chosen by the people in a primary process. Dede was chosen by some spineless, entrenched apparatchiks in the GOP. I know you are not that clueless. When Owens himself was positioned to the right of Scozzafava's stance, that's telling me something. Too bad the soon to be extinct GOP bosses and the RNC didn't have the balls to make a stand.

Hey teabaggers...
Grow Fins on November 1, 2009 at 2:15 PM

Upon seeing this term yet once again, I felt that I had to reiterate what I told you (or one of your insect brethern) months ago in a CL rant/rave:

"And, as in most things, please remember that it is infinitely better to be a -er rather than an -ee™; so although I find the use of term somewhat demeaning, I alternately find it amusing because it is used in the wrong context to be truly insulting. Basically, by calling us that, you say that “we” are the top and “you” are the bottom or, in other words, that “WE” are the Dom; as well as portraying us as being primarily homosexual.

I do not think that is exactly what “your side” was aiming for, but that is the result nevertheless."

Should Mr. Steele decide to step down or conservatives give the party a vote of no confidence by withholding contributions, I think Sarah Palin would be an excellent choice for Chairman of the RNCC. Get her feet wet and see how she does and what direction she'd try to take us.

My only reason for saying this: 'Bambi would be throwing things through the walls of the Oval Office. Delicious!

Does Allapundit ever miss an opportunity to dump on Palin? I think there were a lot of other "Republicans" that also endorsed Hoffman and for good reason!
