Same here. I believe the intensity of the calls and emails he’s been getting on this are getting through that thick pretty-boy skull. No matter how conservative he pretends to be (when convenient) he’s still a (D) and that means “deceit”. Never trusted him. Never will.

That makes it look like Reid will be heading towards another embarrassing loss, just like the one he got on the Doctor Fix.

Bring it on (an embarrassing loss for Reid, that is.) Suits him well, as he is an embarrassment.

So if Ben Nelson, Lieberman, Bayh, and the two Arkansas Democrats (and possibly Landrieu of LA) don’t vote for cloture, does Reid actually think he can get 5 REPUBLICANS to vote cloture?

I agree with a capella. Don’t count on Ben Nelson, he’s not up for re-election until 2012 and he thinks Nebraskans will forget about his votes for the Porkulus, budget and now the Health Scam if he sides with the Liberals.

How can giving away free health insurance to 30 million people not add to the deficit? I know people in DC live in their own world, but even there 30,000,000 * something > 0 no?

I’m getting the feeling that they are all looking for a way to kill the entire thing.

I believe they do want it to end at this point. I believe it’s obvious they aren’t going to get this thing passed. If they water it down too much (as far as they’re concerned) it will do more harm than good anyway because it won’t satisfy the lefties.

If they send the bill to the floor with a public option, it’s going to get defeated. The ultra lefties – Pelosi, Reid, etc., can say “we tried.” Those that defeat it can take credit for having beat back the beast. The ultra-left, then, can play the blame game by blaming the moderate DEMS and the right for creating pain and misery in the country. It’s the only way out where no one has egg on their face.

And to think these jackasses wanted that bill passed before August break. What a joke.

I need to call Bayh in the morning to give him encouragement. I agree that there is no difference between the cloture and passage votes. If he votes for cloture and then against the final bill, that will count as a vote to pass it as far as his constituents are concerned. And he’s up for election next year.

My question is – if Hairy fails to get cloture, what will happen then? I can’t imagine that they will just drop it.

I concur, although he pretty much lost me when he voted yes on Sunstein. I’ve always voted for Bayh, he has exercised good sense in the past. While I might (and probably will depending on his opposition) get over Sunstein and vote for him yet again, I WILL NOT get over his approving this bill. I will gladly join you in working towards his defeat.

Look at it this way …

Dingy Harry is the Quarterback. Obama is the coach on the sidelines.

He’s been driving for the goal line for two quarters with the coach flogging him and telling him to get the ball into the end zone. But everytime he makes a first down – his linemen allow him to get sacked for 10 yards on the next play.

His linemen suck … the coach is beating the hell out of him … the crowd is rooting for the other team so what do you do?

You toss that ball into the end zone and pray that your guy catches it or the other team intercepts – because you’re tired and want to hit the bench.

That’s what this is – a “Hail Mary” into the end zone.

IMO the Senate and House are waiting on the results of Nov 3. The ones that are afraid are stalling for time I think. they want to see what happens next Tues and see if the which polls are correct. If VA, NY23 and NJ all go to reps looks for obamacare to go down in flames. If as is more likely Nj stays blue, Va goes red and NY23 goes blue or goes towards Dede they may continue with the bill. If all three races go blue obamacare will be passed within the week.

I want to see Reid go the way of Jim Wright. The only other Dem nastier and more mean-spirited was Howard Metzenbaum.

You forgot Tom Daschle whose fingerprints by the way are all over this Healthcare debacle. He practically wrote the blueprint for it.

Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.): Perhaps the most conservative Democrat in the Senate, Nelson said Tuesday that it’s “too soon” to say how he’ll vote, saying he wanted to see the official cost estimate and the language.

If he wants to retain his seat, he won’t vote for this. What worries me is….should any of these people be re-elected, will they be overly confident in voting for it next time it comes around? *twiddles thumbs*

Bayh said that Reid’s decision to reduce new fees on medical device makers has put his vote in play.

Ignore everything else Bayh said… this is the important point. Indiana is home to Roche, Eli Lilly and several other major medical device makers.

Bayh doesn’t care one whit about “fiscal responsibility”, just look at his actions as Governor of Indiana. He DOES care about his campaign contributors.

That his actions now coincide with my desires is a happy coincidence. But it’s just that.
