Pathetic: Jarrett backtracks from Fox News bias claim when asked about MSNBC

posted at 6:26 pm on October 27, 2009 by Allahpundit

Credit CNN here. Not only did Campbell Brown follow up with a question about MSNBC after this sorry hack went into Fox-bashing mode but CNN.com actually posted a write-up noting her lame retreat when confronted. Say, did you know that the White House is “calling everybody out,” not just Fox News? Keep watching those Sunday morning chat shows; I’m sure Axelrod and Emanuel will be on again soon to lay out their arguments against CNN and MSNBC.

The money line? “We’re going to speak truth to power.” The ultimate expression of self-righteous victimhood, offered here by … a senior advisor to the most powerful man on earth.

Funny statement in the comments shedding valuable light on why CNN’s and MSNBC’s ratings suck:

Here is the thing, speaking solely for Liberals, I know that we do not stay glued to our Lazy-boys every night watching CNN or MSNBC! We have LIVES! We READ……. we volunteer, we are active in our communities, we attend bible study (I do!), we go to the movies, theatre, etc.

Whereas the GOPers are not like that. My conservative friends including my parents, watch the news 24/7! They are addicted to Faux News, believe me.

Polls show that 21% of Americans claim to be GOP, that means that Faux News has 21% of conservatives watching…….. SO what?

LOL, gotta love it.

Cicero43 on October 27, 2009 at 6:53 PM

so if as VJ says, the American people are smarter than that, can make their own judgements, then why does the WH call out Fox News? or Tea Partiers? Those are Americans making their own decisions to watch a TV channel, to participate in free speech? Why do we need WH guidance? and why is it only those that largely disagree with their policies that are singled out for WH “truth telling”? The answers are blindingly obvious.

Have I ever heard a more pathetic attempt at defense of anything? Not by a long shot.

I love how she said, “The American people are smarter than that. Let them decide, let them make up their own minds.” That is the exact opposite of what Jarret and the rest of the White House thugs are doing. They don’t want people listening to differing opinions and making up their own minds; they want everyone to listen to their savior Obama and make the “right” decision. If people make the “wrong” decision, it’s only because Fox has brainwashed them.

Absolutely pathetic. I don’t give Campbell Brown any props for asking the MSNBC question, because she allowed Jarrett to get away with such a transparently contradictory response. So Brown gets points from Allah, and Jarrett gets points from liberals for deftly handling the question. Nice work.

Splashman on October 27, 2009 at 6:55 PM

Get the FACTS and make up our own minds, eh?

Alright.

FACT: Mr. Obama is unable to see a clear and correct decision to order the reinforcements requested by the Commander in Afghanistan without trying to find a political reason to do so, or to find political cover for not doing so.
FACT: Mr. Obama and his staff blame EVERYTHING on George W Bush, even though he hasn’t been President for 9 months, and even though he clearly fought America’s Wars in much clearer and better Leadership terms than Mr. Obama has evidnece to this point.
FACT: Mr. Obama promised us jobs if his stimulus plan was passed. It was. It hasn’t provided average Americans job no. 1 yet.
FACT: Mr. Obama’s helath care, cap and trade, and energy policies are stifling economic recovery worse than any loss of credit or funding from abroad has EVER done to this country. A very small number of recessions have EVER gone on this long, and none has taken so long to recover since 1980 and the Jimmy Carter Presidency.
FACT: Mr. Obama lied about whether the health care bill would use government funds to pay for abortions for poor women.
FACT: Mr. Obama promised to be post-racial and post-partisan, and yet every other word from his mouth shows he cannot stop racially basing his feelings, his policies, or his rhetoric. He constantly blames Republicans for failure to pass his policies despite the Dhimmicrats being overwhemingly and completely in charge of Congress for the last 3 years.
FACT: Mr. Obama has allowed money to be given to his cronies and his donors in far greater numbers than ever before, and yet denies there is any malfeasance afoot. Despite his staffs’ claims to the contrary, industries which gave less to Dhimmicrats as a whole have been punsihed for failing to do what Mr. Obama desires.

There are numerous other facts to use to evaluate this administration. I could go on for quite some time.

But all these facts support a conclusion that tyranny is just around the corner. It is being perpetrated in the American government today, and few are opposing it. The only brave souls standing up to the rout march to the destruction of American Civil Liberties is the Taxed Enough Already parties, and a handful of conservative bloggers and talk radio hosts who risk being censored, investigated, propagandized, demonized and despised under the guise of journalism, and who are doing so solely because they believe America is something better than what Mr. Obama chooses to deliver to us.

No more will I shut up and be silent when demonized. Its time I raised a little Hell myself. The last 20 yrs of going along to get along have gotten me zero consideration from the left. Now they can listen to me while I protest them. And I can’t be stopped by their police or their threats anymore. I have nothing to lose but my Honor and my kids’ future by remaining silent.

That makes me a dangerous foe of tyrants.

“We’re going to speak truth to power.”

That is such a revealing quote from Valerie Jarret, it’s almost like a Rosetta stone.

Obama and most of his closest associates all view themselves as victims. Victims of the evil United States, or Victims of evil blue eyed devils, or whatever. Even though they were born and raised in the greatest and fairest country in the history of recorded time, these people feel like they’ve been wronged and they will always harbour a grudge.

The victimhood reveals so much. How does a supposed victim behave when the tables are turned and they have gained the upper hand? They act like a bunch of thugs, that’s how. It’s a nasty scene that has played out time after time all throughout history. Some little pissant who feels wronged gains power and the next thing you know you have a Mao, a Hitler, a Stalin, a Chavez, Che, Fidel….

This exactly why Obama strikes out against his foes like a thug. That’s how victims behave when they get the upper hand.

It’s payback time for the poor Obama victims.

OxyCon on October 27, 2009 at 6:56 PM

It is unseemly that they gloat that they shut down the Anita Dunn story. They successfully isolated Fox News… the other outlets never touched it.

If Anita Dunn’s video was ever aired on any other network but Fox, the WH knew the socialist gig was out there for all to see, so they sent out Rahm and Gibbs and Axelrod, and Obama himself in a desperate rush to distract and threaten and it was a total TOTAL win for the WH.

I just hate to see them gloat… but Obama wants Jarrett to FEEL the power of what the WH can do. As Machiavelli pointed out in The Prince… you can rule by love or you can rule by fear… fear takes less effort. They totally cowered the MSM and they are celebrating the win… sickening.
