Obama: You know who’s pretty outstanding? Alan Grayson

posted at 5:58 pm on October 27, 2009 by Allahpundit

Yeah, granted, he offered this as part of his boilerplate opening pleasantries, but ask yourself how the media would have answered the question of the day had it been Bush saluting a congressman who’d recently called a woman lobbyist a “K Street whore” — on Alex Jones’s radio show, no less. Even Democrats went after Grayson, with Anthony Weiner going so far as to say he’s “one fry short of a Happy Meal” before lamely apologizing. The RNC is naturally leaping at the chance to rub Obama’s face in it, but the beauty of Grayson is that he’s spewed so much demagogic nonsense over the past few months that you don’t even need to believe The One knew about the “whore” remark to find this inappropriate. Assume for argument’s sake that Obama didn’t know; even so, what’s he doing slapping a guy on the back who recently called the GOP enemies of America? Keep spreading that sweet post-partisan Hopenchangey spirit, champ.

Does Teacups, perchance, regret his intemperate remark? Teacups regrets nothing:

Todd Jurkowski, Grayson’s spokesman, sent an email to Hotsheet standing by the comment and further criticizing Robertson.

“Let’s be clear about the context,” he said. “The attack was on her professional career, not her personal life.”

“She attacked the Congressman and his efforts to promote a Republican bill to audit the Federal Reserve,” Jurkowski said. “She actually questioned his understanding of the difference between fiscal and monetary policy. She had the audacity to attack a Congressman who used to be an economist. She’s a career lobbyist who used to work for Enron and advocates for whatever she gets paid to promote.”

K street is where many Washington lobbyists work, and “K Street whore” is a derogatory – though not uncommon – phrase used to describe them in the nation’s capital. Grayson, who wants to limit the power of the Fed, made the comment while appearing on the Alex Jones radio show.

See why we can’t afford to lose this guy next year? Every time the left blows up an outrage balloon over something outrageously outrageous that a Republican’s said, Teacups comes along and pops it by saying something even more outrageous. He’s a walking, talking tu quoque, and he’s got plenty of smitten lefties willing to play along with him. Frankly, I may have to cut a check to his campaign.

Here’s the clip of The One; if you find it not to your liking, enjoy this one of him praising Pelosi as one of the great Speakers of all time instead. Click the image to watch.

This gaffe I just don’t get. One look at Grayson and you know he’s major league fruit loops. One listen of him, and you’ve got total whacko combined with dumb as a box of rocks. Whenever he talks, I feel like I’m laughing at the special ed. kid. How did Obama’s people miss what is so obvious?

You’d think Weiner and Grayson would be on the same side, given that they both made waves in liberal circles for their defenses of the public option. Jealousy?

Siobhan on October 27, 2009 at 6:10 PM

Obama has great taste in friends. Teacups, Rahm Emmanuel, Van Jones, Patrick Gaspard, Mark Lloyd, Calypso Louie, Rev. Wright, and that “guy from the neighborhood”, William Ayers.
Don’t forget…Obama told us to judge him by the company he keeps.

Sure, I’ll grant you that Teacups is one of the biggest jerkoff clowns around…though Pete Stark is right there with him…but tu quoque arguments don’t work with lefties…they simply project everything right back. Anyway…as a general rule, all Democrats must lose…except Joe Lieberman.

BTW, didn’t Enron come up with Obama’s Cap n’ Tax?

Yeah, granted….

Is this a variation on the “In all fairness..”, theme?

Dr. Carlo Lombardi on October 27, 2009 at 6:20 PM

Americans demonstrating their constitutional rights to have their voices heard in Town Hall meetings are “nazis”,”extremist”,and “teabaggers”.

But a democrat who call women “whores”,compares opposition to the health care bill “wanting old people to die quickly” and “the Holocaust” is an outstanding guy.

Looks like Obama’s “stop the fear mongering” speech has the same amount of credibility as his race speech in Philadelphia.

Nothing like the leader of the democratic party supporting misogynistic, bigoted hatred with a big smile on his face.

How Progressive!!!!

He’s thinks he’s great and that’s SOP for Team Clown and Co.

What we’re seeing is the ultra-left flexing it’s MOUTH, now that they have one of their own inhabiting the White House and ready, at the drop of a booger, to proclaim them as the “greatest evah” (insert important guvmint position here).

Meanwhile, Independents especially, are jumping off this sinking ship in droves. The very people who actually made a huge difference last November are now having a serious change of heart. Unfortunately, they drank the kool-aid and and took a flyer on the upstart. That’s not working out so good these days.

The libtards, meanwhile, think all is right with the world and the fecal material keeps flowing over their tongues. There day is very fast approaching. When that day arrives, you won’t be able to find even ONE of them.

GoldenEagle4444 on October 27, 2009 at 6:23 PM

As soon as Grayson showed up saying Republican “want you to die” I recognized him from his town hall antics in August.

At first he refused to have one, then he hastily announced a town hall: at his friendly union hall immediately following the monthly Dem Party meeting. That is, the seats were filled before his real constituents got there. Hundreds, TV reports said thousands, were left outside the locked doors.

2010 presents some dangers; 1) Next Tuesday is Nov 3, 2009 election day…, 2010 election (Nov 9, 2010) a full year away., 2) After 2010 election, if GOP take over… still have lame duck sessions from Nov – Jan 2, 2011 for even ousted Dems to do damage., 3) Must stop as much legislation from now until then as possible.

BOR is ripping Congressman Wiener (LOL) about what should happen to Grayson. I’m sure the Dems will run over each other to condemn him, demand an apology and sanction him. SNORT.

Philly on October 27, 2009 at 8:07 PM

And Wiener just said US Rep. Joe Sestak was a moderate. Double snort.

Philly on October 27, 2009 at 8:07 PM

I guess this is that “first-class temperament” on display.

I can’t imagine an American leader having so little understanding or respect for a public standard that he’d approbate a scum like Grayson. George Bush was Pericles next to this pretender, this truly meager man.

Assume for argument’s sake that Obama didn’t know…

Nope. This is a President who stood in the Oval Office and checked Michelle’s blog post before figuring out what to say about winning the Nobel. He knew about Grayson and he has just about as much class – which is to say – none.

t.ferg on October 27, 2009 at 10:55 PM

So who took “big” Alan to the woodshed -

“I offer my sincere apology to Linda Robertson, an adviser to Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke,” Grayson said in a statement emailed to reporters. “I did not intend to use a term that is often, and correctly, seen as disrespectful of women.”

“This characterization of Ms. Robertson, made during a radio interview last month in the context of the debate over whether the Federal Reserve should be independently audited, was inappropriate, and I apologize,” he added.
(emphases mine)

Anyone who thinks this was sincere is nuts, just nuts.

dissent555 on October 27, 2009 at 10:56 PM

No drama, Obama?

Obama likes the rough, barbaric language of Grayson. Obama said nothing when Pelosi & Hoyer called protestors “un-American” in a USA Today Op-Ed. Yet Obama gets all ‘wee-weed up’ over statements made on FNC!
