[...] Hot Air’s Allah Pundit is unimpressed: “[Reid] hasn’t even sent the bill to CBO to be scored yet so I’m not sure what we’re supposed to react to here, aside from the left’s success in getting something with a public plan to the floor which (a) may not even have 60 votes behind it and (b) is almost guaranteed to lose The One’s very small fig leaf of bipartisan support as Olympia Snowe walks away.” [...]

Iraq war cost 1 trillion $. What advantage to American security has it yielded?

No, I am not a softie when it comes to war. By all mean go to war if it benefits the national interest. Iraq did not.

rightistliberal on October 26, 2009 at 7:32 PM

Bad analogy for starters. First, even if we concede that Iraq was a mistake (which it wasn't) it's a policy that could be reversed rather quickly if necessary. Obamacare, from a purely policy point of view, most likely will NEVER be reversed if enacted. So, Iraq/Obamacare are apples/oranges my friend.

As for NHC, I still say that Reid/Pelosi/Obama seek ideological purity for this monster and as such, if/when it fails, they blame the opposition. If NJ/VA (and esp. NY-23) go for the GOP/Conservative ticket, all bets are of for NHC. Don't underestimate the Dems ability to preserve their own arses.

You sound like liberals who try to justify their un-Constitutional social spending at the federal level with COnstitutional (and required) defense spending by the federal government
.

No, I am not a softie when it comes to war. By all mean go to war if it benefits the national interest. Iraq did not.

When we run conservative we win. The democrats know that. That’s why they hand-picked conservative democrats to run in 2006 … and won

Where, in California? Boston? New York?

They run conservative democrats in Red States--by all means choose whatever religious anti-abortion dude you want in Alabama but the same kind of candidate cannot win in Blue states. or even in purple states. He has to be socially liberal.

No more than a handful of states will "opt out" if that many. It really is a smart political ploy. You want DC to stay out of healthcare? Ok, here's your opportunity prove it,put your next election on the line. It's like the stimulus money, in the end, they all took the money.

According to polls, people may not like the specifics of the Obama healthcare plan but they do like the idea of a public option.

The parasitic blue states will elect the public option and the red states will opt out. The left has now achieved exactly what it set out to do. They will reward their nanny state Marxist/leftist constituents and the parasitic underclass for faithfully voting for Democrats. We should take it one step further and completely redistribute the land mass and other resources so the two different and irreconcilable ideologies can go their separate ways never again to meet. The left can then build their ideal Marxist state and the rest of us can rebuild the greatest democracy and free market system ever known . . . and the sooner the better.

One of the bills, from which this was melded, automatically puts millions on Medicaid, based solely on income. How can a state opt out of providing Medicaid???

If it's true that the progressive wing of the Democrats have been pushing for health care reform (a la government health care) since 1948, then why haven't they bought a clue that it has never been desired by the American people in all of this time?

Did that wheezing bag of wind Reid say that the majority of respondents to a poll want a public option? In his dreams...

Then the idjit laments the loss of "moderate Repbublicans" that he used to be able to work with once upon a time. Maybe it's time for conservatives to frame issues that it is too bad that moderate Democrats fail to legislate on behalf of the greater good of the country, rather than on partisan lines.

As if it would help, I fired off e-mails to my US Rep and Senators (who are two clunkers who we need to trade in). I had to do something to let them know I am against this.

This is a $hit sandwich forced on us by Obama/Reid/Pelosi simply to get their names in the book as reformers.

No matter that they are together forcing the best health care system in the history of the world into the dust to do it.

The health care system is not perfect but the system that allows weak humans like Reid and Pelosi to have such power is completely broken.

On then list of items Americans want fixed, HC ranks in the 5% range.
We are truly lost when these dopes can run this down our throats without review or concern over the national debate.

Perhaps the Supreme Court can salvage the health care system.

Where do I donate to the cause?

CARSON CITY -- Nearly half of Nevadans have had enough of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid as the powerful Democrat heads into his re-election campaign, a new Las Vegas Review-Journal poll finds.

About a third of the state's voters would re-elect Reid if the 2010 election were held today, according to the poll, but 45 percent say they would definitely vote to replace him.

SOURCE: http://www.lvrj.com/news/45387987.html

(OBTW - this poll was taken BEFORE Acorn Las Vegas offices were raided so Reid's "third" is actually probably half that much.)

So long Harry! I guess you won't be getting Mickey Mouse's vote next year. Aren't there still several open Obama cabinet positions?
