Poll: What was the Obamateurism of the Week?

posted at 9:00 am on October 25, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

As OOTD readers know, we just had our most productive Obamateurism week in decades — but at least I managed to get two more items off of my agenda than Obama has this summer and fall.  Rather than just go with two hundred — er, two thousand — uh, two choices, I’m adding a third choice to include what happened Friday morning between the White House and the major broadcast nets.  That’s just about the point where Obama’s weird war on Fox nuked the fridge.  Say, isn’t it about time that Robert Gibbs insulted liberal bloggers again?

Previous “winners”:

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

Illustrations by Chris Muir of Day by Day. Be sure to read the adventures of Sam, Zed, Damon, and Jan every day!

Not a choice, but his “Mop up dis mess” speech regarding ObamaCare would’ve gotten my vote.

The disingeniousness of it, when he’s the one making the mess, struck me as Obamateuristic.

The great emergency is citizens refusing to take the shot and middlemen left holding the bag. Those middlemen would be the the insiders and cronies who were going to reap billions off of this scam. As usual their dope was purchased on the public dime.

so while we can claim victory because Congress seems to be in disarray on many issues, Bambi can still laugh up his sleeve.

How about exchanging D.C. Barry for D’ohBama
.
I voted the obvious choice but really, this Sunday feature is absolutely target rich. Dana Perino really lectured the D’ohBama administration this morning on “Do as I say, not as I do” regarding governments of emerging nations tolerating a free press and criticism. Classic!

I hope he’s 1 term and out.

But I’m afraid if someone like Rick Perry doesn’t come out with Sarah Palin as his VP then Huckaby (Gomer Pyle) or Romney will ruin the chance.

Liberals are skewing Huckaby and Romney polls, no doubt, making them look popular.

Also, don’t forget many have a hatred for McCain, and that’s all I’ll say, for he highjacked the party.

I had to go with #2 since I was no way, going to listen to the video. #3 is good, but it falls in line with his already established attitude that as President, he owns everything.
This Congress hasn’t had a productive DAY in over 2 years! But shuffling papers, creating talking points that are passes as “news” by the government owned media, attacking non-compliant news organizations, and individuals for offering differing points of view are called “productive”? GTFO!

Fox News

Not only did they shine a light on competition but they also helped Fox grab an extra 20% more share of the viewers. I’m sure CNN and MSNBC are a little taken by the shift.

The other networks have a serious problem now…they will have to shift right to get some of those viewers back.

Thanks Obama….I wonder who will go under the bus for this one…”Is Dunn Done?”

I expected to see the McCrystal thing, too. And the only liberals think for themselves, and maybe the mop thing. What gives?

You know, this business where Bush refuses to ever say anything to defend himself – it occurs to me that he is complicit in preventing us from knowing the truth.

Thank goodness Cheney told the truth re Afghanistan, and others followed it up in blogs.

I have to say – and I love Bush – this business of letting us all be fooled before besmirching his own so-called honor puts him first, and not us.

Alana on October 25, 2009 at 1:02 PM

It was interesting watching the Hannity panel last night on the Fox exclusion story and the liberal female journo from MSNBC’s take on how Mr. Maddow and Mr. Olberduck both handled an interview with someone with whom they didn’t politically agree. It was by ridiculing them instead of presenting any cogent argument about why they believed as they did. Their “job” apparently, was to belittle and ridicule, but yet they work for a “real” news outlet.

#3 – Fox News.

Brings to mind words from the song “Charlie Brown” by the Coasters.

Fe-fe, fi-fi, fo-fo, fum
I smell smoke in the auditorium

Charlie Brown, Charlie Brown
He’s a clown, that Charlie Brown
He’s gonna get caught
Just you wait and see
(Why’s everybody always pickin’ on me)

That’s him on his knees
I know that’s him
Yeah, from 7 come 11
Down in the boys’ gym

Charlie Brown, Charlie Brown
He’s a clown, that Charlie Brown
He’s gonna get caught
Just you wait and see
(Why’s everybody always pickin’ on me)

Who’s always writing on the wall
Who’s always goofing in the hall
Who’s always throwing spit balls
Guess who (who, me) yeah, you

Who walks in the classroom, cool and slow
Who calls the English teacher, Daddy-O

Charlie Brown, Charlie Brown
He’s a clown, that Charlie Brown
He’s gonna get caught
Just you wait and see
(Why’s everybody always pickin’ on me)

Beto Ochoa on October 25, 2009 at 9:47 AM

Obama obviously never read the story of “the Boy Who Cried ‘Wolf’.”

Rather than develop support for a rational policy, and a rational plan which actually supports the policy (and is not merely a disguise for pork and/or some other liberal mischief), Obama tries to make everything an “emergency.”

So here we are. And the nation’s lowest level of attention is now the ‘super-serious, life-endangering priority emergency’!!

Obama Bloviates…Citizens Yawn.

landlines on October 25, 2009 at 9:33 PM

Number 3, without a doubt. It has all of the classic “-isms”:

*Whiny proclamations from the WH (someone doesn’t agree with us, so they suck/aren’t credible/they suck again)

*Obambi distancing himself from the furor (well, I’m not losing sleep over it/I don’t know who these people are)

*Backtracking after it’s pointed how wrongheaded it is (well, that’s not what we really said/who we really associate with/not what the president..lower case purposeful..says/has said/believes)

Classic. And sad.
