Quote of the Day

posted at 9:00 pm on October 24, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

“People familiar with the internal debates say Mr. Obama rejected a strictly counter-terror approach during White House deliberations in early October. One official said Pentagon strategists were asked to draft brief written arguments making the best case for each strategy, but the strategists had difficulties writing out a credible case for the counter-terror approach — prompting members of Mr. Biden’s staff to step in and write the document themselves.”

Did his staff suggest searching 7-11s the world over?

In other words:

“Duh.”

Goddamnit, we need some leadership NOW.

hillbillyjim on October 25, 2009 at 12:07 AM

Joe Biden is a plant. The only thing remaining unclear is whether he is a tuber or root vegetable.

viking01 on October 24, 2009 at 11:46 PM

Joe is a pumpkin that’s had all the innards spooned out of it’s head to make a jack-o-lantern.

Loxodonta on October 25, 2009 at 12:07 AM

We need a leader. We need to stop following idiots, at least.

NOBAMA.

No one wants your Socialist America, Barack.

Not many, anyway. Maybe your organized bunch, but that’s about it. NO. NO. NO. HELL NO.

hillbillyjim on October 25, 2009 at 12:12 AM

Maybe I should be more clear.

NO.

Loxodonta on October 25, 2009 at 12:07 AM

Agreed.

Joe being a curcubit (squash family) is high probability since the only light likely to go on in that echo chamber head of his this Halloween season would be a candle.

viking01 on October 25, 2009 at 12:15 AM

The problem is that the libs are setting the bar so low that we’ll end up with the same so called Republicans that sent us down this hole and worse, send us even further down the nasty rat hole we’re so desperately trying to keep from sliding down now.

So who’s paper did Biden plagiarize to come up with this plan?
John Kerry’s?

Big headline on Yahoo, and aren’t they proud!!!!
Oh, quite the story….let’s see how far this will go with the news media waiting with bated breath for this moment,, on some “exposure” to Limbaugh’s tripping-up. Forget about the fact that no one is allowed to see actual papers that the great one has written, does not matter,, they’ve been carefully closeted and sealed. What is important to the the country is that Rush “bought into” a trumped-up paper. How low can the opposition go? Below low and then some. Desperation with the most deplorable, despicable tactics. Isn’t it more than obvious that the left does not want anyone to see precisely what Obama has written and would rather do a
a phony, trumped-up thesis, rather than publish the real truth of what he wrote. What are they afraid of? What, exactly are they falsifying , or do they even know? Why do they need such cover stories if the great one was not on the up and up? Why not publish what he actually wrote? How hard is that?????? Or, are you ashamed???????

betsyz on October 25, 2009 at 2:03 AM

BETSYZ– Playing Fools

Making Fools. Fox and all the enemies of the left better watch it. There is nothing that would be more helpful than a palpable slip up or an outright hoax on the info sources which some people find inconvenient.

Greater the fool, I. And I have been predicting a catastrophe or humiliating defeat from the Afghan “contingency” or whatever they are calling it, since The One was elected. Now Joe Biden is involved and the world knows it. If Harry Reid joins in, the Taliban, Al Q and even drug dealers and wife beaters in the area will immediately have their hands over their heads and be marching to the nearest Brit to surrender. I say Brit since they will be too afraid to approach our guys under fear of harsh words, hostile glances and even a quick reading of their rights. How could I have been so wrong?

IlikedAUH2O on October 25, 2009 at 2:19 AM

To add: Yahoo is in hog heaven and delirious over this story and not of the swine flu sort. They’ve waited a long, long time for this moment not to celebrate with fire-works. IT HAS HAPPENED!!!! We can finally stop with the kick-start, sputtering, non-accomplishments of Obama. They now have ABSOLUTE focus—- they’ve waited and waited and waited to finally find fault with Rush. It has happened. Get on your knees and thank Allah. This story WILL be the feature story of all stories on all networks, guaranteed, along with the usual muff-heads to solemnly attest to the fact that Rush is a jerk and off-beat agitator loon to begin with. ‘Cause they’re all experts on this. Some will be quite somber and benevolent. Not all, others will probably have red-faced,
embarrassing histrionics over this; pee their pants, etc.
at their “Aha” moment.

You’re not wrong. I have been so busy composing my own follow-up, that I missed your response altogether. How painfully true you are.

betsyz on October 25, 2009 at 2:50 AM

Well well I didn’t read the whole article but that is the kind of information that gets leaked when you want to discredit something before you move on to the real plan…

I think that is a good sign. If the dithering hasn’t cost too much to win at this point.

petunia on October 25, 2009 at 3:21 AM

Well, if Bidden is our military stratagist, then all I have to add is “we’re farked”, and so is our soldiers…

Ye of little faith.

We’re talking about Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. here. Halfback for the Blue Hens. Doctor of Law.

He can’t help it that he had asthma and couldn’t serve in Vietnam. But, thank God, he grew out of that and now he’s going to perform his military service for our country.

And you’d want a former asthma victim to be denied his rights?

How dare you!

Loxodonta on October 25, 2009 at 5:06 AM

When I was a kid, I used to play war games with tin soldiers in my bedscovers. That qualifies me as an equal to Joe or Obama in military skills.

According to The Sunday Times, Morale dips for American Marines in Afganistan

From The Sunday Times October 25, 2009

Morale dips for American marines in Afghanistan
In a remote part of Helmand troops are dismayed by the ambivalence of locals and a sense that the Taliban can outlast them
Stephen Grey in Khan Neshin

The Article quotes Corporal Gregory Williams, 22, from North Carolina. According to the Times Corporal Williams said:

“It’s going to take a lot of proving out here to make them talk to us. It’s working so slowly.” The marines are trying to implement a strategy dictated from Washington

Many people now understand that Vietnam was allowed to drag on year after year because it was “dictated from washington”. Washington caused the outcome in the Vietnam war by interfering in military planning and tactics. Similarly the strategy of winning the “hearts and minds of the people” was forced on the military from the executive branch in Washington.

Biden and Obama are slowly but surely turning the war on terror into another Vietnam by setting rules of engagement that favor the enemy at the expense of the lives of our patriotic American forces. When will washington learn? I wonder now that Kerry is getting into the act, if he will sell out our troops like he did in Vietnam. Marine morale does not dip without a good reason. Does anyone agree it has everything to do with washington tying the hands of the military and politicizing the war in Afganistan?

I can understand how Obama would go with Biden’s plan given the vast military training and experience that both of them have in common.

johnsteele on October 25, 2009 at 7:40 AM

Yep, if I was an American soldier deployed or facing deployment to Afghanistan I’d be comforted in knowing that our highly experienced Community-Organizer-in-Chief was getting his military advice from Joe Biden.

johnsteele on October 25, 2009 at 7:44 AM

LoL neither Bozo nor any member of his clown posse know the difference between strategy and tactics, defensive ops and offensive ops.

Never having served in the military they are complete idiots.

They do not even understand the terminology, never mind the consequences.

dogsoldier on October 25, 2009 at 8:22 AM

So we have generals that have been getting the job done, but now we need Joe Biden to step in? Biden is an egotistical fool, who has no clue what it going on around him. He shouldn’t even be given the status of secret clearance since he blabs everything he hears claiming they were discussing it at Cathy’s Diner.

The cost of American service personnel lives in order to stroke his ego, and ad witness to the utter failure of the Affirmative Action President is unacceptable and perverse. Our troops come first, and the is the job of Biden and Obama. Anything less is criminal.

“This may be part of an effort by the Obama administration to have the suggestion come from Europe first before the president makes a public commitment,” said one person who has discussed Afghan strategy with senior U.S. officials.
