The reason that “populism” is less of a dirty word in American politics, as compared to Europe for instance, is because this nation was founded on the idea that the one who can best give a person “elegant, intelligent governance” is that very person.
The notion that our self-appointed “betters” know what’s best for us, more than do we ourselves, and in the end we must rightfully bow to their passing whims and the governmental fad-of-the-generation, is in and of itself, an anti-American school of thought.
When we turn our back on that “governs best governs least” ideal, then as a nation we are finished – and the Left knows this just as well as we do.

A yawn is understandable, but there is some serious misdirection here. The effort to minimize the ACORN scandal is fundamental to Obama’s re-election, as well as to the 2010 elections. While we are looking forward to November 2010 as an opportunity to do a mid-course correction, Obama and his ACORN buddies are out there working to ensure that the elections come out the way the left wants.
We should not yawn at anything Obama and his media supporters do.
