Democratic activist: WH “bulls**t” for anonymous Deeds distancing
posted at 4:35 pm on October 23, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
How did the Democratic activists react to the Obama administration tossing Creigh Deeds under the bus today with a series of anonymous quotes from inside the White House? David “Mudcat” Saunders, a well-known Democratic veteran, had no problem going on the record with CNN for a profanity-laced response. Saunders called the attack “bulls**t” and a “g*****n shame” (via Gary Gross):
David “Mudcat” Saunders, who gained political fame helping Democrat Mark Warner reach out to rural voters during Warner’s successful 2001 gubernatorial bid, told CNN Friday that trying to blame Deeds is “bulls**t” when Democrats around the country are “just tired of politics.”
“The Democrats right now are a real bruised brand right now where I am,” said Saunders, who lives near Roanoke. “There was so much energy put into last year’s race, everybody’s just burned out. You can’t [get] anybody fired up.” …
“It’s a goddamn shame when our center of government, the White House, won’t talk on the record. I discount all of it,” Saunders said of the Post article. “It’s a lack of courage. And it goes against transparency that Obama told us last year was going to come out of the White House. Anybody who makes anonymous quotes out of the White House should be fired.”
That lack of courage appears to be an emerging theme at this White House. They’re afraid of Fox News, they’re afraid of Congress on health-care reform, and they at least appear afraid to make a decision on strategy in Afghanistan two months after getting Gen. Stanley McChrystal’s report. They’re spending their time managing the media rather than leading and governing.
Now that they’ve undermined Deeds two weeks before the election, we may start seeing them becoming afraid of their own base. They certainly made a momentary opponent of Mudcat, who summed up this administration more succinctly than some Republicans we know.

I’ve never seen anything like this. The White House trashing a gubenatorial candidate BEFORE he even loses the election. Geez, at least let the people vote before crucifying him.
All Obama seems to give a crap about is his image. I think he’s obsessed with maintaining a solid personal approval rating, his party be damned. That’s why he’ll take forever to make a decision(assuming he does end up making one) on Afghanistan. He can’t bear the thought of alienating half the country, which is inevitable no matter what he chooses.

I think for a lot of Democrats, this is not the Democratic party of their fathers, and this is NOT the man they voted for. Obama seemed to be able to cast a spell over many, and now….they see the light!

Yeah, the Dems in my family are feeling the same way. Kinda sucks when your President blows so bad (not in the Bill Clinton way … ahem) that even the media is getting sick of him. Hey, welcome to our world. We put up with it for 8 years, from a HOSTILE media. Where every word and nuance was analyzed. Now, for some reason, the Dems just wanna stop with the political punditry. Problem is, Obama is a pathetic joke, and the repercussions for our country are all too serious, so we can’t let it go and just let him have his way with our future.
On a lighter note, I’m having fun seeing HIS POLICIES fail. But hey, I’m just a big mean conservative who knew America was NOT voting for socialism, and that a rookie with no actual experience could NOT handle this job.
And yes, actually Sarah (not the one who plays her on TV — geez, you guys are dumb) would have been better than O and Joe.

Frankly I am shocked at the number of leaks so far given the Ones aura, but more and more the info has been flowing to the right hands. The Obama paranoia is thick and getting worse.

Slightly OT but they just ran the election story on the news. McDonnell was out there talking about creating new jobs. Deeds was proposing increasing the amount of unemployment in areas where the number without a job jumps up 2% from the previous month. That friends should tell you all you need to know about these two candidates.

Jack I gotta disagree with you slightly. I’m not sure that the filthy lying coward putting in more appearances would have been beneificial. I suspect that it would have harmed Deeds more than it would have helped.
Beyond that, Deeds has run a crappy campaign. Nothing but claims arising out of that thesis paper. How are voters supposed to elect a man whose only competency seems to be be discussing another individual’s 20-year-old school paper? Deeds is bringing in Bill Clinton and the filthy lying coward in the last few days but I suspect it won’t do too much good. There just aren’t people on the fence at this point.

Cicero43 on October 23, 2009 at 6:26 PM
When Creigh Deeds won the primary he was considered a moderate who could be bipartisan. He had plenty of high ranking supporters in the Republican Party. His mistake was to get inolved with Obama and let him even make one speech on his behalf. This was supposed to be the rematch of his and McDonnell’s election for Attorney General 4 years ago. It was very, very close even in the recount.
Same with Tim Kaine. His mistake was to be Obama’s state campaign manager last year. He has aligned himself with corruption that he has to overlook.
The Democrats have tarnished themselves by allowing Obama to barge in and steal elections using ACORN and generally act like thugs with their overwhelming corruption. They brought Chicago to America and I don’t think most folks like it. It started with Clinton and it is being carried on by Obama. This isn’t your regular Democrat Party anymore. The corruption of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid doesn’t help. They think they can run this country with an iron fist, but there are way too many that are beginning to see the this isn’t the way America should be run. They are now the party of corruption. I don’t know how they get the “stink” off themselves. If this weren’t such a dangerous world, it would be most entertaining to watch them implode. I live way too close to DC to take any glee in their implosion. It’s just damn scary.

Virginia has, and will always have, a Republican Legislature. We vetoed $125 million in stimulus money because of it’s potential economic impact on small business. It doesn’t matter if we have a D in the Gov’s mansion or not, the General Assembly runs sh!t around here.
To quote the Washington Post:

Yeah, that wasn’t too bright, but I think Obama had started to give speeches for him before that. The disaster one being in NOVA when Obama made the speech all about himself and called on the SEIU to get in the faces of the folks going to town hall meetings. Next day they beat up Kenneth Gladney in St. Louis. That was a defining moment for me, anyway. Why in the world would Obama do that during a campaign speech? Very bad.
Poor Creigh needed something so off he goes to follow the politics of destruction meme that Democrats seem to think works these days. It could have even been Obama “researchers” doing that work for Deeds. We know that Obama does work that way because they got Sarah to resign just a few weeks before that.
If I were a Democrat, these lessons are pretty blatent and difficult to ignore. Tim Kaine–take heed. Save yourself.

“They’re spending their time managing the media rather than leading and governing.” -Ed
Continuing evidence that the Obama campaign didn’t end on that Tuesday last November. And why not? They’ve proven that they know how to campaign but don’t know squat about governing. So they are going with the only thing they know. The problem is that when governance is called for and campaigning is all you’ve got, the result is ham-fisted and entirely amateur.
