I have no experience what ever in the book-seller biz (beyond a heroic effort to make their efforts profitable, but…

I’ll bet money, marbles, or chalk[1] that Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and HarperCollins are not in the charity biz.

So, to avoid a crushing cognitive dissonance, I am going to believe that the orders in hand (less a reasonable reserve for collectibles) provides enough to redeem the advances, cover the costs of the first printing and provide a respectable profit.

The cripples know this and it looks like a good free-load opportunity.

The earliest that I will be looking to buy the knockoff (it might be a hoot to have one is when it shows up in the remainders bin.

I suppose I might buy one from the used market if the remainders bin has the covers ripped off…..

I like to collect very bad books by celebrities–you know, such as the poetry of Jimmy Carter and Pelosi’s hideous book, which I usually get from the remainder bin for buck or two. But here I draw the line. I won’t get this POS.

But it has inspired me to give Palin’s book to at least five people this Christmas, excuse me, this Winter Festival Holliday.

By the way, having worked in a bookstore in my youth, the Rouge will end up in the dog-eared Humor section of books, and won’t get the prominent placement of Palin’s book.
