Comparing Palin to Buchanan in 1992 before he went viral isn't too bad based on Buchanan's reasons for challenging President Bush. “If the country wants to go in a liberal direction, if the country wants to go in the direction of [Democrats] George Mitchell and Tom Foley, it doesn't bother me as long as I've made the best case I can. What I can't stand are the back-room deals. They're all in on it, the insider game, the establishment game — this is what we're running against."

Ultimately, isn't this what we are fighting against? The back room deals with the elite in-siders who want to 'tell' us who is our conservative leaders when there is nothing conservative about them. They've been dictating to conservatives for years. These comparisons won't hurt her.

Remember when Dubya tried to foist Harriet Meiers on us for SCOTUS? Yes! We're done STFU and sitting down. You'll hear from us loud and clear on every person you put up for nomination. We want conservatives and fast. Nothing less.

I'll bet you didn't know that 'Abraham' had an "utterly paper-thin" resume too. He served in the Illinois state legislature for four terms and then one term in the House of Representatives. Not particularly impressive by any standard and yet, everybody but us Southerners thinks he's one of the greatest US presidents. I think he's on our currency, isn't he?

Ugh...I hate hearing you people call her 'Sarah' just about as much as I hated - and still hate - the libs calling Obama, 'Barack'. Just more evidence of this bizarre cult of personality that's been built up around this woman. Don't any of you folks mind that her resume is utterly paper-thin? You really don't, though, do you? Yes I know, the MSM and liberal commentariat have been shameful in their treatment of Mrs Palin and her family - but that is not a reason to try and grant her the leadership of the free world. Oh I know, my comment only shows how much I fear her - although that's true, actually, because I am terrified of seeing her split the party in 2012. You die-hard supporters will happily ride this flaming ship to the bottom of the ocean, chanting the whole time that criticism of Mrs. Palin is a result only of fear - not that it could possibly have anything to do with deep-seated reservations about her policy-smarts, her populist rhetoric, her lunatic decision to resign as governor of Alaska. And oh by the way, there's the fact that this whole situation bears a striking resemblance to the elevation of Obama from 04-08. She is a good person with a great story, she gives a good speech, she's a damn good campaigner - and, what else? What else? Less-than-one-term governor of Alaska is not sufficient bona fides to be President of the US, just as less-than-one-term Senator was not. She has done nothing to demonstrate that she can capably lead this country, and she will therefore not receive my vote - as she will not receive the votes of the vast majority of Americans.

Win or lose, as Beck has said, "Say what you mean and mean what you say". At this time that describes Sarah to a "T". No other politician seems to meet those requirements.

the party will unite to stop her.

All based on reading the tea leaves of polling. And trajectories.

Nothing to do with actual policy. Just day trading on trends.

Why is this the QOD?
Because it feeds AP's ego?

It’s the traditional GOP voices that need to actually articulate some policy stances, outline a saleable program.

Sorry, but laying low like Romney has done will work only so long.

The argument is about traditional GOP policies. For most of us it's conservative policy and I think you would agree they have been articulated by conservatives and rejected by RINOs. They don't think our policies ( principles ) can win an election. They're wrong and Sarah will prove it.

“Buchanan established his through his 1992 primary challenge to George H. W. Bush. He won no states and few delegates, but inflicted serious damage on the president with a strong (near 40 percent) showing the New Hampshire primary and emerged as the uncontested leader of the G.O.P.’s economic nationalist wing.

No HW inflicted serious damage on himself. The lack of a decent nondemocrat alternative because of his incumbency was the main reason people like Buchanan and Perot were even in demand. The loss of Atwater showed the paper tiger for what he was.

The notion that another GOP candidate would beat Obama in a national election is the idea that actually needs to be challenged. In what alternative universe?

The GOP didn't just lose. The traditional GOP lost major states that used to be Red. Those weren't just purple states. They were Red States.

I think aftermath of the election said it all. There was nothing but jeering at the GOP. There were incompetent promises: We'll produce our own budget, and then none came. There were absurd in-fights being made public regarding Steele.

The only real energy going on is with Palin.

It's the traditional GOP voices that need to actually articulate some policy stances, outline a saleable program.

Something to make your day…..

This is going to make liberal heads explode!!!

Tina Fey, she admires and respects the woman she imitates, Sarah Palin. And is teetering toward voting for Palin should the former Alaska governor run for president in 2012.
And she’s not so crazy about Obama. Read the whole article. LOL LOL LOL.

That's what happens when you grow up. You get all conservative and stuff. I wonder how hard the left will bring down the hammer on Fey? It didn't really bother me that Fey imitated Palin, very well, I thought. It was pretty funny. As are all the imitations of all the presidents, I think.

the party will unite to stop her

...and the party will regret that move.

Sarah transcends party affiliation. Now that Americans are fully aware of the propaganda they see on TV Sarah is only going to snowball in popularity.

So, if the polls turn around for Palin over the next several years, would that make Huck or Mitt the new Buchanan?

Sarah doesn't have to talk talk talk about her conservative social values, because they are obvious- she lives them. If she keeps talking the constitution, freedom, energy, she will be a contender. No one liked the Gipper either. They said he was a buffoon-anyone but me remember the beginning of Spies Like Us?

I hear conservatives talk about Obama’s radical agenda, I know they despise Pelosi, but like it or not the way to stop them is to beat them politically. It is one thing to say you do not believe in power over prniciple and all that, but political power is the only that will stop the Obama agenda from being enacted.

I heard very late last night on Greta that Palin endorsed Hoffman. If so, game on! Repubs bedamned. Conservatives unite!

I like Sarah Palin very much, but I think that she's lacking in experience to be President. It would have been good for her to serve as VP prior to a POTUS run. At this point, I'd rather have Michelle Bachman in the race if we're looking for a woman to run in '12. She's just as conservative and much more experienced and articulate.

Once again, the left and liberal Repubs trying to tell us what's best for the opposition party. I don't recall Buchanan's tenure as governor.

Sarah Palin is so very much un-Pat Buchanan. She supports Israel, and (I'm sure) thinks the war against Nazi Germany was good and necessary.

BOXED IN?!?!?!?!

A candidate can make 5 to 10 statements about the core Conservative values.

And on EVERY other issue, "IS THAT AS IMPORTANT AS PROTECTING OUR COUNTRY OR ELIMINATING THE DEBT? DON'T DISTRACT ME FROM THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS FACING OUR NATION!"

Don't care what the liars and their masters of the WH put out about the woman. If she runs, I vote for her, maybe even campaign, which like attending a tea party will be a first for me.
