NYT: Obama whined about Fox News at off-the-record briefing with lefty pundits

posted at 9:43 pm on October 22, 2009 by Allahpundit

Is this a joke?

Speaking privately at the White House on Monday with a group of columnists and commentators, including Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann of MSNBC and Maureen Dowd, Frank Rich and Bob Herbert of The New York Times, President Obama himself gave vent to sentiments about the network, according to people briefed on the conversation…

Mr. Clemente suggested that the fight with Fox was part of a larger White House strategy to marginalize critics. He cited a report in Politico about a strategy session in August at which officials discussed plans to move more aggressively against opponents.

White House officials acknowledged that Fox News did come up at that meeting, although not, they said, as a central topic. A number of issues had been added to the White House’s list of grievances by then, including the network’s heavy coverage of some of the more heavily anti-administration commentary at town-hall-style meetings on health care and Mr. Beck’s remark that Mr. Obama “has a deep-seated hatred for white people.”

Dude, Glenn Beck’s own fans don’t obsess about him this much. How do we put The One’s mind at ease here? Taxpayer-funded psychotherapy? A week off at Camp David? A security blanket, perhaps emblazoned with the “O” logo that he loves so much? I’m not being altruistic; we’ve reached the point where, purely out of self-interest, we may need to start worrying about this guy being on the red line with Medvedev, chatting about nukes, and letting his mind wander to what Sean Hannity said about him that night. What can we do to help this poor afflicted individual get the help he needs?

Update: Remember, though, he’s not losing sleep over it.

Sure he’s not losing any sleep over this. Sure! *wink wink*

Bottom line is, he loved the accolades, glory, and the unquestioning devotion, and loyalty he recieved during the campaign. Now, he’s well aware that while he still has his kool aid drinkers, the numbers have lowered. Support is going down, and he knows it. It’s a desperate attempt to contain, and control what he sees as the reason for this falling support.

No wonder he’s to ashamed to release his grades.

I don’t know if it’s an artifact of the breathless coverage from all of President Linus’ globetrotting while they try to catch up, but has the President spent more days in the Oval Office than out yet this year?

Glenn Beck was talking on the radio show last week about the stories they’re working on. He said that if one particular story pans out to be true, he thought it would bring down the administration. I’m curious as he## what it could be.

Colorado Anne on October 22, 2009 at 10:42 PM

Maybe it is nothing at all and he is just getting into Obama`s head. However, with Beck`s recent record don`t you know Barry is going through the skeletons every minute. RAHM! did we tie up that loose end in ………..

Do not forget Ms. Jarrett’s time at the University of Chicago Hospital and Mrs. Obama’s time working for her. Remember the people who were dismissed without further assistance, and, remember Mrs. Obama’s incredible raise.

Perhaps something happened during their short lived tenure there. Perhaps actual people who understand medicine, are medical practioners of all kinds, and just maybe, a few folks who did not bend to these ladies’ will, might have challenged them.

Hmmm… again, all of their collective perceived slights and personally perceived wrongs, must be corrected. This is not social justice; it is all the people who did me wrong justice. (Golly, were they not asked to the prom?)

And let us not begin to calculate the amount of money the United States and our universities have given to this crew. And really, for what, and how did they earn their fine Ivy League educations? And why would they wish to radically transform this wonderful country that has given ALL OF THEM SO MUCH?

Agree. they’re creating a pre-emptive defense. I surmise that the information coming out involves a tell all interview with Bill Ayers and just how that book got written. Maybe it’ll be laid out just like the ACORN videos have been, dribble here–watch the lies, dribble there, watch the lies–then show the whole thing and twist the knife. It has something to do with the Afghanistan decision and the original anti war protestor Bill Ayers. No wonder it is being delayed, they’re building a defense.

The Americans are interested in how they’re “creating jobs” and handling the war in Afghanistan??? What is this guy smoking? Or perhaps his crossed legs are cutting off the oxygen supply to his brain.

But he is correct that Americans are concerned about those two issues because he is an epic fail. There are no jobs and he has done NOTHING in Afghanistan.

This is a man who cannot handle unpopularity. Having a President who is both arrogant and naive is a lethal combination. Throw in an unquenchable desire to be loved, and we’ve really hit the trifecta with this one. God help us all.

These tactics are going to backfire in a big way. There will be plenty in the media that are in bed with him while Rome burns, but they are forcing some defections with these tactics. Once this takes effect, and his approval ratings crater further, this thing is going to reach a boiling point. I don’t look forward to how this administration is going to react.

The setting: a 3 am phone call:

Mr. President: (groggily) Hello?
Press Aide: In watching the rerun of Mr. Beck’s program, we noticed that he referred to you as a ‘Grubenshnitzel’.
Mr. President: What!! Get Axelrod & Rahm down here right away. Call ‘em both up and have ‘em meet me in the War Room.
Press Aide: Yessir, right away. At least I only have to make one call, since they are sharing a room in Barney Frank’s basement.
Mr. President: I don’t care if they are running a threesome with Nancy — this insolent behavior must be stopped at once! Alert the Speaker too!
Press Aide: OK. That saves me another phone call.

It’s obviously true. And he’s managed to build an adminstration that feels the same way, in the important places. The fact that Holder is still AG really infuriates me. The guy should be in jail, literally.

And The Precedent is just out for revenge. For exactly the reason that he said he would raise capital gains taxes, even if it meant reduced receipts – “it’s a matter of fairness”. “fairness” means revenge, and his policies (and feigned indecision) have all been designed at revenge (except for the payoffs, to keep the machine running, of course).

Liam on October 23, 2009 at 12:11 AM

Yeah, right. You were one of the regular troll troop who was dragging out the slavery and James Earl Ray garbage. The egg’s still there, sweetness.

ddrintn on October 23, 2009 at 12:07 AM

Nope. Prove it. I never cited either of those quotes.

Pissy now, are you? Good! Because others know what you have posted. I’ll leave it to them to decide in their own minds, as YOU have put out in these threads.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Debate can be more productive than ad hominem comments.

disillusioned on October 23, 2009 at 12:13 AM

I hate liars, and that includes you now.

crr6 on October 23, 2009 at 12:11 AM

BTW–as you showed from your beginning here, you hated me from the start because I’m conservative and you’re liberal.

Liam on October 23, 2009 at 12:14 AM

Liam on October 23, 2009 at 12:12 AM

No scumbag, you made the assertion, you back it up. You can’t squirm out of this one.

I never defended Polanski. You saying so is a lie and a smear.

crr6 on October 23, 2009 at 12:14 AM

Liam on October 23, 2009 at 12:14 AM

LOL. If anything this exchange has been a instructive in that it’s proven your and ddrintn’s irrational hatred of me. You’ve both attributed things to me (false quotes, defending Polanski) which I never actually said. Facts don’t get in the way of your blind, desperate hatred.

crr6 on October 23, 2009 at 12:17 AM

crr6 on October 23, 2009 at 12:14 AM

My, you’re so upset, liberal!

Liam on October 23, 2009 at 12:17 AM

Nope. Prove it. I never cited either of those quotes.

crr6 on October 23, 2009 at 12:11 AM

Nah, I’ll use the Limbaugh standrd. Prove that you didn’t use specious quotes.

I don’t hate you. You’re funny.

ddrintn on October 23, 2009 at 12:19 AM

Polanski is a scumbag supported by his scumbag friends in the movie business.

crr6 on October 1, 2009 at 12:02 PM

Here’s a post of me condemning Polanski. It took 2 minutes on Google. Perhaps Liam should have invested the same 2 minutes before his blind, hateful smear.

crr6 on October 23, 2009 at 12:17 AM

Maybe you never actually said such things, but you intimated them, you made yourself clear.

Nice dodge! But not quite exculpatory. As I said earlier, others will decide their own views of you based on your own posts.

Liam on October 23, 2009 at 12:19 AM

You saying so is a lie and a smear.

crr6 on October 23, 2009 at 12:14 AM

Case in point. That’s hilarious, the sudden revulsion to lies and smears. Tsk tsk. Wonders never cease.

Nah, I’ll use the Limbaugh standrd. Prove that you didn’t use specious quotes.

ddrintn on October 23, 2009 at 12:18 AM

Cute. So no proof then? You can join Liam in the time-out corner for lying.

My, you’re so upset, liberal!

Liam on October 23, 2009 at 12:17 AM

Yes, pardon me, but being falsely accused of supporting a child-rapist makes me a tad perturbed.

Go back to your hole you lying waste of life.

Libs hate being caught, trapped, and held to their own words an standards.

Liam on October 23, 2009 at 12:22 AM

Terrific. Hold me to my words then. Go ahead. Show me where I defended Polanski.

crr6 on October 23, 2009 at 12:21 AM

Your posts and demeanor stand before you. You want to escape and, now accused you go as you are right now.

I’d feel your pain but…

Liam on October 23, 2009 at 12:23 AM

Go easy on crrappy6 and the other troll- bots. They’re having a hard time tonight trying to defend whiny Precedent Toonces jumping the whale and going Captain Queeg/Hugo Chavez.
Their going schizo because he’s taking the gaspipe on all fronts and they can’t deal with it.

Dr. Carlo Lombardi on October 23, 2009 at 12:24 AM

Yes, pardon me, but being falsely accused of supporting a child-rapist makes me a tad perturbed.

crr6 on October 23, 2009 at 12:21 AM

Did you support Ted Kennedy? That’s worse.

Nearly 1400 comments now. The outpouring of respect, gratitude and reverence is truly touching. Kudos again to you all for looking past narrow partisan politics to see the greatness of an American senatorial legend.

crr6 on August 26, 2009 at 5:24 PM

Supporting Polanski would be a step up for you.

progressoverpeace on October 23, 2009 at 12:27 AM

crr6 on October 23, 2009 at 12:23 AM

I’m not going to go after every last of your quotes, but your other posts tell me and everyone else you back Polanski. Even tho I’m not going to try proving anything, I strongly believe, based on all your past posts, you’re comfortable with letting Polanski off the hook for raping a child.

Liam on October 23, 2009 at 12:27 AM

My, my, that lying little crapweasel is getting in a tizzy, isn’t it? Poor little thing. I think I can almost see the veins bulging on its forehead.

Buford Gooch on October 23, 2009 at 12:28 AM

The sad thing is, there’s no reason to make up quotes with Limbaugh. He smears himself.

8. Take that bone out of your nose and call me back(to an African American female caller).
etc. etc.

crr6 on October 14, 2009 at 11:48 PM

What’s the “etc. etc.”? A “smear”?

ddrintn on October 23, 2009 at 12:28 AM

Off to watch TV a while.

‘Night, Friends!

Liam on October 23, 2009 at 12:29 AM

I had no idea it was this bad. He openly freaks in front of the other networks’ reporters about Fox?

No doubt. This guy is just a spoiled child. Of course if you study his past, it is no surprise. However, you would think that Axelrod and Rahm would work with him on this.

So insecure. Textbook son with no father.

He’s gonna have a meltdown if he has not already.

Resignation or impeachment down the road?

Sapwolf on October 23, 2009 at 12:32 AM

That’s a lie and a smear. I’ve said repeatedly here that Polanski is a scumbag that should face the music.

crr6 on October 23, 2009 at 12:01 AM

Yeah, sometimes you libs realize that you shouldn’t admit your true feelings.

You don’t have a reputation for honesty, though, so why should we believe you here?

malclave on October 23, 2009 at 12:34 AM

Resignation or impeachment down the road?

Sapwolf on October 23, 2009 at 12:32 AM

He’ll never resign. He’s on a political suicide mission.

Liam on October 23, 2009 at 12:27 AM

Disgusting. You have no evidence other than your personal “strong belief”, which is not supported by any evidence. I have posted a previous quote condemning Polanski, and I have done it again here. He is disgusting rapist and he belongs behind bars.

Off to watch TV a while.

‘Night, Friends!

Liam on October 23, 2009 at 12:29 AM

Annnnd the liar slithers away. Convenient.

ddrintn on October 23, 2009 at 12:28 AM

Epic fail. Is that the best you can do? Face it, I never said any of the lies about Limbaugh. You are a liar and a fool, like Liam.

crr6 on October 23, 2009 at 12:37 AM

Liam on October 23, 2009 at 12:27 AM

The commenter crr6 hasn’t ever, in the posts that I’ve read, had any “backing” of Polanski. Sad to say, your on the losing end here being the proverbial “troll” you obviously detest.
