NYT: Obama whined about Fox News at off-the-record briefing with lefty pundits

Speaking privately at the White House on Monday with a group of columnists and commentators, including Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann of MSNBC and Maureen Dowd, Frank Rich and Bob Herbert of The New York Times, President Obama himself gave vent to sentiments about the network, according to people briefed on the conversation…
Mr. Clemente suggested that the fight with Fox was part of a larger White House strategy to marginalize critics. He cited a report in Politico about a strategy session in August at which officials discussed plans to move more aggressively against opponents.
White House officials acknowledged that Fox News did come up at that meeting, although not, they said, as a central topic. A number of issues had been added to the White House’s list of grievances by then, including the network’s heavy coverage of some of the more heavily anti-administration commentary at town-hall-style meetings on health care and Mr. Beck’s remark that Mr. Obama “has a deep-seated hatred for white people.”
Dude, Glenn Beck’s own fans don’t obsess about him this much. How do we put The One’s mind at ease here? Taxpayer-funded psychotherapy? A week off at Camp David? A security blanket, perhaps emblazoned with the “O” logo that he loves so much? I’m not being altruistic; we’ve reached the point where, purely out of self-interest, we may need to start worrying about this guy being on the red line with Medvedev, chatting about nukes, and letting his mind wander to what Sean Hannity said about him that night. What can we do to help this poor afflicted individual get the help he needs?
Update: Remember, though, he’s not losing sleep over it.

I am seriously wondering if Barack H Obama is the black Richard M Nixon.
Dude, this guy just can’t deal with criticism, or any kind of challenge to him. Everything is so personal with him.
Sounds like Barry is all Wee Wee’d up with FoxNews.

What a paranoid freak. In a normal world, this paranoia would be lampooned in latenight.
Apologetic California on October 22, 2009 at 9:47 PM
So Obama legitimizes Fox News’ coverage of stories about him by complaining about the exact coverage that gets him mad.
Sounds like to me the ‘marginalization’ of Fox News is nothing but Hot Air (pun intended!).
NYT just blew his cover!

I was gonna make some kind of impeachment joke, then I realized that would mean Joe Biden being President. So…maybe someone could give Obama cookies?

LMAO! Not just Fox, but a growing list of grievances. They are utterly shameless.

Behind War Between White House and Fox
WASHINGTON — Late last month, the senior White House adviser David Axelrod and Roger Ailes, chairman and chief executive of Fox News, met in an empty Midtown Manhattan steakhouse before it opened for the day, neutral ground secured for a secret tête-à-tête.

There’s something fishy about this, don’t you think? Odd, isn’t it, that the other networks stuck up for Fox today in view of them being the o’s lapdogs? There’s just something not quite right about this.

This is not going to end well. Obama has no one except Michelle who can cut through his BS… and she’s farther out there than he is. With Biden and then Pelosi as the maidens-in-waiting the situation may be dire indeed. Since we’ve already descended into Banana-republic governance, maybe it’s time to call for a special election and we can retire the whole gaggle at once.

This is classic narcissism – Obama is so full of himself that he can’t believe that any criticism directed toward his policies is anything but a political attack against him personally. In his perception he’s a supergenius, perfect, brilliant, yadayadayada and anyone who doesn’t see that has a problem.
Man, is this going to be a long 3+ years. Especially since it looks like his domestic policy is all about “revolution” and his foreign policy is all about his own, personal self-affirmation.

Hey look – no White House administration goes down this road unless it has been defeated on the issues and feels it has nothing else to lose.

They’re lashing out at the people they hold responsible for their defeat.
Simple as that.

There has got to be a serious examination of the political process which has produced this incredible and frightening result.
Dr. Carlo Lombardi on October 22, 2009 at 10:07 PM
You need to stop viewing this as a “whiney baby” situation, and more of a Nixon “enemies list” situation. I keep thinking you’re inching closer to realizing this guy, and the people around him, aren’t just knucklehead Bambis, but people with seriously anti-American motives. Come on. It’s easy to say “he’s just in over his head”, but have you looked at the connections? Have you wondered how it is that virtually all of his friends throughout his entire life have been Communists and terrorists, anti-Semites, etc.? Have you heard him say he wants to “fundamentally tranform” the country, talk about wanting “single payer”, courts to get involved in “redistribution of wealth”, etc. etc.
People, PLEASE, realize the actions of this White House are calculated and they have an agenda that isn’t as hidden as we’d like it to be. Their own words (i.e. “don’t let a crisis go to waste”) reveal it all of the time, but as humans we’re apparently being too kind and assuming we can’t be seeing and hearing what we are seeing and hearing.
RightWinged on October 22, 2009 at 10:08 PM
I don’t know. I think what we are seeing is the full display of a real personality disorder that we just saw glimpses of during the campaign. But if his ‘handlers’ don’t get a handle on things and pull the curtain back up real soon, I see his numbers dropping like a stone in the next week or 2.
Narcissism is very unappealing.
