More Obama: Unlike Democrats, Republicans “do what they’re told”

posted at 4:45 pm on October 22, 2009 by Allahpundit

Deep thoughts from a guy who insists that Rush Limbaugh is the pied piper of the GOP despite the fact that primary voters nominated his least favorite candidate last year, and who offers this at a moment when the biggest story raging on the right is a civil war among Republicans over Hoffman and Scozzafava. Jay Nordlinger’s already written two posts at the Corner about how insulting this is, with more, perhaps, on the way:

Barack Obama is pretty interesting when he gets in front of his money-givers — his biggest fans, I guess. In New York, he said, “Democrats are an opinionated bunch. You know, the other side, they just kinda sometimes do what they’re told. Democrats, y’all thinkin’ for yourselves.” Last year, in San Francisco, he said of Middle Americans, “It’s not surprising . . . they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them . . .”

He speaks a lot differently — a lot more respectfully — when he has one of his big national addresses: Then, we’re not red states or blue states but the United States, blah, blah, blah. Well, which is the real O? The nice, inclusive guy or the sneering, contemptuous partisan? I vote the latter: I think it’s the real O, unfortunately: the one who speaks to Democrats in New York and San Francisco.

And the Oval Office too, don’t forget. If you’re looking for a silver lining, here it is: This is as close as we’re ever likely to get to him admitting that his big problem on ObamaCare isn’t the nefarious — and powerless — GOP but those hardheaded, free-thinkin’ Blue Dogs who aren’t as eager as he is to toss another $900 billion in entitlements down the federal sinkhole. Thank heaven for small mercies. Click the image to watch.

RULE 5: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions.

RULE 8: “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.” Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new. (Attack, attack, attack from all sides, never giving the reeling organization a chance to rest, regroup, recover and re-strategize.)

Now THAT is irony. Irony and a huge helping of self-delusion.

Conservatives have LEADERS, and liberals have HEROES. Conservatives have a long track record of holding their noses at the polls and voting for the right choice even if it isn’t their favorite one – look at Bush II’s re-election. Liberals, however, pledge unfailing devotion to hero figures (and tend to think that conservatives do too, because they tend to lack insight). Their heroes date from JFK (a Dem from another era who actually served in the military), to The Hero of Chappaquiddick, to their idolized Clinton, to that sub-human piece of sh!t Kerry – a man who betrayed his own men on the floor of Congress and was chosen as the highest representative of the modern Dem party when they put him up to be President. Now they’ve got Obama and I don’t even have to mention how deeply revered he his by his minions, though I have yet to figure out why.

Certainly not for his judgement or insight, what with him making absolutely self-delusional commentary like he does above.

Nixon, possibly. The liberals would certainly claim that. No one else comes even close IMO. Obama reminds me of an old saying from a MAD magazine cartoon way back when: “The ones who talk about it the most, do it the least!” This applies perfectly to Obama’s supposed healing, uniting, post-partisan and post-racial attitude. I had rather cynical expectations of him all along, but he has gone even lower than that.

Answer the question I asked on the other thread: Why aren’t you bothered by these attacks on Free speech?

You’re not his constituency. He doesn’t need you to like him. He won’t get your vote. BHO’s moved on. You may want to move to Alaska.

simplesimon on October 22, 2009 at 5:13 PM

Constituency doesn’t mean what you think it does.

Besides, he’s president, not a candidate running for reelection. It’s pathetic but not surprising that you can’t tell the difference.

And no, unlike some liberals, I actually like where I live for more than the man who’s in the White House. When I say I love my country and my state, unlike some liberals, I’m not being partisan.

His manner is that of a cheesy Hollywood comedian on the Tonight Show. Smirking and trying to play off the crowd. He’s about as presidential as Chris Rock.

I’m sorry, I’ll take Chris Rock over I-Bama any day.

His presidential credentials are actually stronger, and he hasn’t done anywhere the harm.

Barack’s strong approval number hit a new all time low at Rasmussen today – 26%.
