It’s come to this: White House tries to bar Fox News from interviewing pay czar
posted at 7:35 pm on October 22, 2009 by Allahpundit
Decide for yourself what the most disgraceful aspect of this is. Was it the fact that Gibbs told Jake Tapper explicitly on Monday that the White House wouldn’t try to dictate to the press pool who should and shouldn’t be included — before doing precisely that? Was it Anita Dunn going out of her way to say she respects Major Garrett as a fair reporter — before the administration decided he didn’t deserve a crack here at Feinberg? Or was it the repeated insistence by Dunn and Axelrod that of course the administration will make its officials available to Fox — before pulling the plug today?
The other networks deserve the praise they’re getting for standing up to the Baby-in-Chief, but if they had acquiesced in this freezeout, a precedent would have been set that would have been eagerly used by future Republican presidents to close them off too. And don’t think they weren’t all keenly aware of it.

AP’s lack of conservative values shows with this quote: “…a precedent would have been set that would have been eagerly used by future Republican presidents to close them off too. And don’t think they weren’t all keenly aware of it.”
First, a Republican Prez would never do this because of the overwhelming Left-tilting press.
Second, a true conservative-Republican respects the constitution. Why else would they have allowed by the majority vote to put this blatant communist in office with the explicit aid of the free press.
klickink.wordpress.com on October 22, 2009 at 7:41 PM
I’d give kudos to the “other” networks, but I’m thinking they weren’t so much interested in protecting free speech as their own butts. I’ll praise them when they start reporting the real news.
Catherine Wilkinson on October 22, 2009 at 7:42 PM
Get ready, allah. You ain’t seen nothing yet. Try and keep in mind that The Precedent grew up in Indonesia, in very turbulent times. He picked up a very big chip, there, and is working it off right now. Add the lunatic leftists in Congress to that and you will get an inkling of what else is coming down the pike. These people will not stop.
You might have thought that that Copenhagen fiasco and Nobel idiocy would have slowed down The Precedent, but as you can see, those events are already relegated to ancient history and had no effect on this treasonous slug – as he doesn’t care about being humiliated or anything of the sort.
You want to know what’s in store for us? Take a look at Bolshevik Russia and the French Revolution. Add a good amount of thrid world hate for America and you will start to get a good picture.
This is what people voted for on Nov 4th, and we’re going to get it all. This game will play out to the very end, unfortunately.

Honest question: Are any of our lefties troubled by it?
BadgerHawk on October 22, 2009 at 7:45 PM
Could it be the other “real” news organizations realized it could very well be them if a Republican is in office and they allow this precedent to be set by the cry babies at the WH? Are they realizing the line of “freedom of speech for me, not thee” is not what America is all about? So many questions that could be asked. Will we ever know the truth?

Well, you gotta hand it to Obama. He can see everything he has been trying to do crumble around him. It is only 10 months after the election and he is already trying to control the news. This move is straight up Hugo Chavez. There’s no mistaking the intent or the tactics.
I really hope to hear some serious outcry from 1st amendment advocates, regardless of party affiliation. Knowing Russ Feingold, he may even have a few things to say about this.
(Of course, I was also stupid enough to think that Joe Liebermann and a few other senior Democrats would put country over party and talk Clinton into stepping down over his multiple perjuries and obstructions of justice.)
