I'd rather have someone wake up one day and decide to go to Washington to do the right thing, as a conservative, then someone that has an answer for every question but is a liberal.

If Obama can be POTUS, then any one can be a congressman! I doubt he'll learn any worse on the job than Obama, who isn't learning jack.

Give the guy a break, he's not a politician. Isn't that a good thing?

I heard a radio ad this morning (I live on the border of the 23rd district). It was very anti-democrat and paid for by the Republican National Committee (or something). Of interest to note, it was a complete democrat attack ad and did NOT mention Scozzafava by name at all. Is the tide turning?

Hmmmm.

*shrug* and so what? Seriously AllahPundit. What is your point?

That Hoffman doesn't know the local issues? Hey the guy is an accountant. He, like a lot of other people, was working for a living and probably didn't have the time. Does this mean that he will never acquaint himself with the issues? Not at all.

Frankly I personally don't have a problem with people looking to get elected who will learn the issues once in office.

That's the alternative to the "professional" politician. You want something different? You have to take that things must be different.

But but but who cares if he doesn’t know the issues! At least he’s not moderate like Dede! Even though a vote for Hoffman is a vote for Obama’s far left agenda, I’m all about principal!1!1! Therefore, I don’t care if Pelosi and Obama get stronger, as long as we keep those darn moderates out of our party! Am i getting this right guys?!?!??!!!1!?

Somebody ought to tell Hoffman that adding a tad of baking soda to his toothpaste will whiten his teeth. I’m not being petty; it’s just that the unattractive color of his teeth makes them look grungy and detracts from his appearance.

...and maybe some eyeliner and a new hipper hair cut...or some cool sunglasses?

You have to understand the GOP in New York State. The Chairmen hold sway over the whole program. Our County Chairman once said as he announced their choice, "We're not paying for a primary." Shows you what the voters mean to the New York Republican Party.

Hey BACK OFF NEWT! The 4 local GOP districts each selected Scuzzy to endorse. Newt was asked to endorse the Local candidate. He did.

Do you really think that he attended the 4 meetings and questioned each candidate? He was asked to endorse the local potted plant on the ticket against the opposition candidate.

Sarah, was able to wait, see which way the wind was blowing, and then she endosed this candidate. If something falls out of this guys closet, she wouldn't have known about it either. I doubt if she has interviewed Hoffman, Scuzzy or the third, fourth, fifth and sixth place GOP person that wanted to run.

Sarah is great. Newt is great. But don't expect them to know who EVERYTHING about all unknown local candidates. (But I wish they did a little more homework.)

Maybe he can brighten his teeth, have a plastic surgeon give him some jug ears, learn to lie with every breathe, and make promises he knows he can never deliver and make an impression with the Nobel Prize Committee. I'll take him like he is and send him some money just to spite Newt and Michael Steele and John McCain.

Somebody ought to tell Hoffman that adding a tad of baking soda to his toothpaste will whiten his teeth. I'm not being petty; it's just that the unattractive color of his teeth makes them look grungy and detracts from his appearance.

I like Newt, but his criticism of this man and his support for the other candidate reminds me of him getting wimped out over Bill Clinton, his indecisiveness over running for office again especially last year. The contract for America was a great move on his part but he always buckles to the establishment. Wake up Michael Steele. John McCain, Arlen Spector, Lincoln Chaffee re-enforce the theory that Newt and others are wrong on this issue. This party better wise up and fight the dems like they need to be fought. Don't look for them to be nice. From big Bertha all the way up to Bambi they fight dirty and fight hard. As much as bambi needs love he wants none from the republican party. He is an angry man pushed by an angry left movement.

So basically Hoffman was asked about how much pork he would bring home and his answers were unsatisfactory. Probably because he doesn’t give a damn about the Seaway and is more concerend with out bloated budget as a nation.

Exit question: Is it too late for a fourth-party candidate?

No because knowing an issue right now, is secondary to how he handles issues in general.
If he throws money at problems, over regulates, then that is how he will solve problems.
Once in office, issues are defined...but the way one analyzes and solves problems he carries with him.
That is a conservative mindset will choose a better path then a liberal...
